Life Drain
- For the monster attack, see Life Drain (Monster).
- For the Blinker's version of Life Drain, see Beholder Beam Attack.
Description
A skill perfect for recovery during battle. It can quickly restore your HP while dealing lethal damage to your opponent. Using this skill can greatly enhance your Alchemy knowledge. Damage increases with lower HP. (Material: 2 Wind Crystals, 1 Fire Crystal, 1 Water Crystal, 1 Earth Crystal) |
Details
- Requires a cylinder and/or guard cylinder equipped as well as 2 Wind Crystals, 1 Fire Crystal, 1 Earth Crystal, and 1 Water Crystal in the player's inventory in order to use.
- A special Alchemy skill using all four Alchemy Elements to steal the Life force of others to replenish one's own.
- This skill damages enemies in two parts:
- The draining portion, sapping HP directly from the enemy.
- Targets will be forced to walk while being drained, but can still attack and use skills normally.
- If the user is attacked or the target moves out of range, the skill will be canceled.
- Wounds are not restored.
- A numerical damage value is not displayed.
- Completely ignores Magic Defense, Magic Protection, Passive Defense, Mana Shield, Invulnerability, and PvP Damage Rate.
- 35% of the user's lost Health is added onto Life Drain's draining damage.
- Lost health refers to the total amount of health lost. For example, the player will deal more damage if their health is 1/1000 (999 health lost) as opposed to 1/100 (99 health lost).
- For example, if the user has lost 100 of their maximum Health, an additional 35 damage is added to Life Drain's draining damage.
- This only adds bonus damage up to 2500 missing Health, or 875 additional base damage.
- This does not restore additional HP, however.
- Additional damage, once the draining portion is complete.
- This occurs early if the user drains the enemy's HP to 0.
- Players with high latency may drain the target's HP below 0.
- This portion knocks back the enemy.
- This portion does not occur if the user is interrupted during the draining or the enemy becomes invulnerable to attack.
- If knockback damage is not dealt (either for above reasons or because the skill was manually cancelled) it will not reset elves' Hide cooldown, and Elemental Wave will remain active.
- Alchemy Mastery, Fire Alchemy, Earth Alchemy Mastery, Water Alchemy and Wind Alchemy increases the knockback damage.
- This is calculated as:
Final Damage = Knockback Damage * {1 + Cylinder bonus + 3*[Alchemy Mastery Bonus
.
+ (Water Alchemy Bonus + Fire Alchemy Bonus + Wind Alchemy Bonus + Earth Alchemy Mastery Bonus)/4]} * Cressida Effect Bonus- Life Drain does not receive any bonuses or penalties from the player's cylinder except of the Tower Cylinder. After completing the G12 mission All Out Attack!, the Tower Cylinder adds 120% to Life Drain's knockback damage.
- The Equipment Combination Effects of the Cressida Set include an effect that raises Life Drain's knockback damage by 15%.
- This is calculated as:
- This occurs early if the user drains the enemy's HP to 0.
- The draining portion, sapping HP directly from the enemy.
- Neither the drain nor the knockback may score a critical.
- Life Drain can be used even if the player has full HP.
- Dark Knights also may not load this skill if they are in Disarm status. It may be used if it is loaded before the status occurs, but may not be loaded again afterwards.
- Can be loaded during Windmill's animation.
- May be used through Barrier Spikes, including the ones in Provocation.
- Life Drain may be used to finish enemies and some HP will be drained.
- Using Life Drain counts for all four alchemy elemental masteries.
- Life Drain uses more durability than other alchemy skills.

Obtaining the Skill
- Learned as a reward from Generation 9 mission Scouting Mission.
Training Method
Tips
- The Combat Power of Kitchen Dungeon monsters is ideal for many ranks.
- If the player's Combat Power is too high, Tendering Potions can raise the monsters' CP again.
- Alternatively, Tendering Potions and Baltane Training Bomb work well in Baltane Missions.
- Note that even before Active Talent Level 100+ bonuses, the "Awful-level enemy" and "Boss-level enemy" requirements are often enough to rank the skill.
- Dorcha Conversion and Time Shift can easily place the player into Deadly status.
- The Raid version of Zebach can also easily place the player into Deadly status.
- Deadly status can be maintained by canceling Life Drain early as the training count happens immediately, though be warned that the enemy will likely target you.
- Using Life Drain on weak enemies will likely kill them and automatically end Life Drain earlier.
- Avoid Leveling Up, using Transformations, or allowing your Bachram Meter to fill up to maintain Deadly status.
- Changing channels, logging out and back in, or changing Parties can prevent the Meter from going off.
- Similarly, Golden Time and Elemental Wave should not be trained alongside this training, at least not using the enhancement on Life Drain.

Trivia
- When this skill was first released in the Northern American Server, it was called "HP Drain". It was later renamed back to "Life Drain" most likely due to the fact that the Strategy Guide, Generation 9 Dialogue, the Life Drain Crystal, and the Skill Requirements referred the skill as "Life Drain" rather than "HP Drain." In addition, Books and NPCs, such as Healing: Basics of Magic, have never addressed the Life Force as "HP".
