Description

Although effective in keeping oneself warm, leather garments are restricting and heavy, and many animals need to be hunted to make one. This naturally led to creating lighter garments which can be made in a less dangerous way. The Weaving skill allows you to create thread from natural resources such as wool to weave fabric. In order to learn and effectively use the Weaving skill, you must have an eye for detail and put in your most sincere efforts. While these are difficult criteria to accomplish, knowing that many people are able to create beautiful garments with the fabric that you have weaved using the Weaving skill will be quite fulfilling. Remember that you require tools such as Spinning Wheels and Looms to use the skill.

Details

• Weaving allows one to produce materials necessary for item production via the Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Carpentry, and Handicraft skills.
  • Please see the Weaving List for a list of possible items that can be produced by weaving.
  • Please see the same page for fabric and silk production rates by quality and rank.
• Requires a Spinning Wheel or Loom to use, depending on the item produced.
• To cut leather, the player must have a blade type weapon (i.e., a sword) or a certain blade-type gathering tool (i.e., a Gathering Knife or a Sickle) equipped.
  • Be careful with what you have equipped. Each attempt at cutting will cause the blade to use 0.1 Durability unblessed, and half that amount if blessed.
  • Cutting leather straps of any quality takes ~6.6 seconds/strap, working out to ~11 minutes per stack of 100.
• Dexterity raises the success rate of Weaving.
  • Party members also increase the success rate based on their Weaving rank.
  • If you are using a Part-Time Job title, the title you are using before starting a Part-Time Job will count toward success rate, and not the Part-Time Job title.
• Players training this skill may use the Fragmentation skill to recover some materials from unwanted items.

Briefing	I am Malcolm from the General Shop. I have a backlog of fabric orders, but I'm out of thread. I need wool to make thread, so can you bring me 5 bundles of wool? How to Gather Wool 1.Press 'I' to open the inventory 2.Grab a gathering knife. If you don't have a gathering knife, buy one from Deian at the Pasture. 3.Go to the Pasture in the northeast part of the town. 4.With the gathering knife equipped, click on the sheep to gather wool. 5.If the sheep moves while shearing, the shearing will fail.
Objectives	Equip the Gathering Knife Completed Shearing 5 Times Deliver 5 Bundles of Wool to Malcolm

Additional Information	Although you could use other things to shear (like swords), you must equip a gathering knife to complete the first task. Lepus's quest is preferable in that he gives you a gathering knife.

How to Get Quest	Talk to Lepus with the Skills Keyword

Objectives	Talk to Lepus Deliver 5 bundles of wool to Lepus Place 5 cobwebs inside the spinning wheel to make 1 thin thread ball Deliver 1 thin thread ball to Lepus
Rewards	2000 Experience Points 1000 Gold
Additional Information	Lepus gives you a gathering knife in step 1, and teaches you Weaving upon delivering the wool for step 2. Unlike Malcolm's quest, you do not have to gather the wool yourself, and can collect it before starting. You can do both Malcolm and Lepus's quests simultaneously, though you will have to collect 5 wool for each. Cobwebs are dropped by White Spiders when they are not aggravated. You can find them near the Lizard Mark northeast of Filia or Continent Warp to Dunbarton and head west. Once you get the cobwebs, go back to Filia and click on the spinning wheel. In your inventory, click on the cobwebs and bring them over one of the boxes in the spinning wheel window. Then click OK on the spinning wheel window.

Training Method

• Leather strap and braid training can be completed without the need of materials using Walter's part-time jobs.
• Enthralling Performance can be used to gather spiders from Tir Chonaill graveyard to make a cobweb farm.

Trivia

• The crafting recipe for the four qualities of regular Fabrics and Silks used to be combined with the final result being random.
  • The combined recipes had their own success rate based on Skill Rank and the rate of each quality of Fabric or Silk was similarly skewed by Skill Rank.
