 There are times when you want to create your own music. As with many bards who have made history, learn this skill if you want to express the stories and images of life through your own music. You don't have to just play other people's scores, but can create your own.

Details

An example of an empty Score Score opened for Compose.
  • Compose allows the player to input strings of MML (Music Macro Language, not to be confused with the XML-based language of the same name) into 4 separate fields to create a playable Score Scroll.
    • Higher ranks allow more characters in each field, allowing longer and/or extended songs.
  • The player must have a blank Score Scroll in their inventory to use the skill. The player must then click "Use" on the skill and select the desired scroll to compose, and then write the desired song's melodies and harmonies on the scroll.
    • Checking the "Closed" box on the composition window will disable the ability to read the score after it has been composed.
    • Clicking "Read from the Clipboard" will automatically fill out the score, if the clipboard is in a valid MML format.
    • Once inscribed, the MML within a score scroll cannot be altered.
  • The rank of the scroll is equal to the composer's Musical Knowledge rank.
    • If the player does not have Musical Knowledge, the scroll's rank will appear as "Drawing", which is the equivalent of Novice.
  • It is possible to create a Score Scroll that will produce magical effects upon being used. This requires both Compose and Musical Knowledge Rank 9.
  • When composing for Song, the Song line must contain the song's tempo and volume. Song does not read Harmonies 1 and 2.
  • Currently lacks a master title and therefore capped at Rank 1.

Exclude Song Part

  • When checking this box on the interface, the characters reserved for the Song part will be added to the main composing tracks.
    • This essentially allows players to compose songs that would normally have a length beyond what the Composing skill would allow them to make.

Skill Issues

  • A glitch may occur which lets the player continue the animation of playing instrument even though the score has ended.
    • If the score has 'rests' (R) unedited at the end of any part of the composition; the animation will continue.
    • Sometimes the game will read a slow tempo in the score (T40 or lower), making the animation continue.
  • A rare occurrence in the game, may cause MML codes to be transferred into the game incorrectly from the MML editor software; causing the score to abruptly end.
    • The tempo's (T) speed may cause this problem at times.
    • Removing the tempo will fix this problem but the score will not play at the desired pace.
    • If the tempo is not part of other MML codes relating to musical notes; it will sometimes cause the score to end too early.
    • If the tempo also had rests along side it, but do not have musical notes, it will also cause the score to end too soon; sometimes it will make the player continue the 'Playing Instrument' animation.
    • The MML codes may result in having less characters (or codes) than the original edit or may add more characters instead.
      • If you experience having less or more codes after 'Read from the Clipboard' is used; test out the copied MML codes and paste them on a text document or a notepad. See if codes are missing or have been added.
