Wine Making Process

• The Wine Making Process can only be performed at Blago Prairie, or through any Trade Assistant Imps scattered across every town in Uladh.
  • In Blago Prairie, Eluned and Lezzaro have set up Wineries in order compete to produce the best wine: Grand Blago and Errans Cru, respectively.
• To start Wine Making, talk to Edana or Rumon or the signs around them for Grand Blago and Errans Cru, respectively, or talk to any Trade Assistant Imp and select "Ferment wine", then choose the respective NPC. Afterwards, click "Aging" with 20 Blago Noir or Errans Sauvignon, respectively, to begin the process.
• To age the wine, simply close the Wine Making window, leave it, and allow time to pass. Once the required amount of time has passed, talk to the respective winery NPC or the Trade Assistant Imp again, and click "Finish Aging".
  • Wine grapes are gathered from Eluned's or Lezzaro's orchards, respectively, or purchased from the Trade Assistant Imp.
  • Gathering wine grapes requires Bare Hands.

Stats

• There are four vital stats that affect the wine's quality:
  • Acidity: Determines the wine's acidity. This decreases if the player takes too long in the oak barrel replacement.
  • Purity: Determines the wine's purity. This decreases if too many sediments are not taken out in the oak barrel replacement.
  • Freshness: Determines the wine's freshness. This decreases if the player neglects to replace the oak barrel after 24 real-time hours, decaying by 1 point every 36 minutes after the 24 hour mark.
  • Aging: Determines the wine's age. This slowly increases over time at a rate of approximately 1 age every 2.8 in-game days (or 1 hour, 40 minutes and 48 seconds real-time), and reaches maximum after exactly 280 in-game days (or one real-time week).
• All stats have a maximum of 100 and a minimum of 0. The objective is to maintain each as high as possible.
  • Acidity, Purity, and Freshness start at 100. Aging starts at 0.

Oak Barrel Replacement

• Oak Barrels manage the stats of the wine. It must be changed at least once every 24 hours or the wine's freshness decays.
  • If you disconnect or close Mabinogi during the mini-game, it will give the same result as not clicking anything.
• Talk to the respective winery NPC or the Trade Assistant Imp, then select "Replace Oak Barrel" to begin a mini-game.
  • A confirmation message notifies how long it has been since the last replacement and how many times the oak barrel has been replaced.
  • Clicking "Tutorial" starts a practice version of the mini-game.
• Replacing the Oak Barrel becomes more difficult each time it is performed. As a result, changing the Oak Barrel too often will make it much harder to age the wine.

Oak Barrel Mini-Game

Using your mouse, the goal in this mini-game is to keep the screen clear of the purple sediment blotch by left-clicking them until time runs out. At the top of the screen you may drag the slider or scroll your mouse wheel to adjust the speed of the mini-game, causing the time to deplete faster but also causes the sediments to appear rapidly. The gauge on the left shows how much time remains. If the player fails to click the sediment on time, they will vanish, and in turn, decreases the wine's Purity. During the removal of the sediments, the wine will be exposed to air, which will cause oxidation; if the process takes too long, the wine will develop a sour taste and the acidity will decrease. As a result, the sediment removal process should be conducted as fast as possible. Upon completing the barrel replacement, the wine's Purity and Acidity will change based on performance, and the current Freshness will be maintained for another 24 hours.

• There are 11 possible speeds (0 = slowest, 10 = fastest)
  • Below is the acidity lost assuming the minigame speed is set to a single speed for the entire minigame.

Pencast's Rating

• Once the player is satisfied with the wine's results, they can click "Finish Aging" to end the process, then take the completed product to Pencast in Tara to receive rewards based on the wine's stats.
• In order to accomplish Glyph Lore's Rank 3 and Rank 2 requirements, the wine must be a high enough quality to earn Blago Prairie Recapture Orders for Rank 3, and Corrib Valley Protection Orders for Rank 2.

Training Method

Tips

• The process of ranking Wine Making is quite simple, but requires some patience and is a bit costly. Simply purchase grapes from the Trade Assistant Imp (1,000 gold for 20) or gather 20 of them in Blago Prairie, then ferment the wine of choice and complete it, then repeat the process. No aging is required.
• You do not need to replace the barrel at all during the aging process to gain training experience.
• For Ranks F, E, and A, it is cheaper to make wine than it is to purchase the books. Each set of 20 Errans Sauvignon or 20 Blago Noir is 1,000 gold, and the books are sold for 1,500 gold at Ranks F and E, and 3,000 gold at Rank A.
• Rank 7 is the only Rank in which you cannot simply make wine at any age to advance the skill.
  • Alternatively, you may utilize a Luminous Catsidhe or Abyss Catsidhe pet with the Blooming effect set to Chef Talent to evade the Aging requirement.
• All Ranks excluding 1 can be completed by aging wines to 20, 30, 40, 45, etc. if you wish to save gold. It is extremely time consuming, but each age requirement fully trains each rank of the skill.
  • It would take 56 in-game-days (33.6 real hours / 1.4 real days / 1 day, 9 hours, 36 minutes) to get wine to age 20.
  • It would take 84 in-game-days (50.4 real hours / 2.1 real days / 2 days, 2 hours, 24 minutes) to get wine to age 30.
  • It would take 154 in-game-days (92.4 real hours / 3.85 real days / 3 days, 20 hours, 24 minutes) to get wine to age 55.
  • It would take 280 in-game-days (1 real week) to get wine to age 100.
• Buying all books and grapes would cost 98k at most.
