Generation 15: Merchant of Venice, also known as: Generation 15: The First Contract, Generation 15: The First Trade, and Generation 15: Merchant of Belvast; explains about Shakespeare's past and the origin of the Soul Stream. It also introduces a new location: Belvast Island. This Generation is based on another of Shakespeare's plays, the Merchant of Venice.

  1. Upon logging in, you will receive a quest.
  2. Use the Avon Feather to get to Avon.
  3. Talk to Marlowe. He will give you Shakespeare's Journal Page 1.
  4. Use it to view a cutscene and begin the Shadow Mission, The First Milletian, roleplaying as the Mysterious Man.
    • The Mysterious Man is level 1 and starts with only Rank Novice Combat Mastery and 8 AP; he has neither potions nor weapons.
    • Warning: Attacking the Ghosts as they use Teleportation causes them to become unattackable and makes the role-play unable to completed and must be restarted.
    • Using Continent Warp, logging out, or dying during the RP will immediately end it. Talk to Marlowe again to receive the page back if this happens.
  5. Complete the quest and wait for the next one. [20,500 EXP]

Instruction

  1. Talk to Marlowe. There are two choices: Yes or No.
    • Note: These choices made, along with those encountered later on, will have a positive or negative impact at the end of the Generation, so keep this in mind.
  2. Talk to Nele at Emain Macha's town square.
  3. Talk to Lucas at the Pub of Emain Macha. He will give you a Belvast Whiskey.
  4. Deliver the Belvast Whiskey to Nele. You can ask him the following: About Shakespeare, About Avon, About Hamlet, About Romeo and Juliet, and About the Guardian of Avon. After ending the conversation, a cutscene will play.
  5. Complete the quest, and wait for the next one. [17,500 EXP]

Instruction

  1. Talk to Aodhan in Emain Macha. You will receive a Red Wing of the Goddess to Port Cobh.
  2. Ride a ship from Port Cobh to Belvast Island.
    • You may not bring Trade Goods on the boat, as the quest will not allow you to do so.
    • Regardless if a ship has departed or not, entering the doorway will bring up a cutscene of the boat departing.
  3. Talk to Antonio on the boat. You are prompted Shake his hand or Ignore him. A cutscene will soon play followed by the Shadow Mission, Friendship of the Ocean, RPing as Antonio.
    • Antonio will only appear on the boat during this quest.
    • Bassanio will aid you throughout the RP.
    • All enemies have some level of Heavy Stander.
    • Both Coy Lucy and Dreary Julia have Final Hit.
      • Their Final Hit does not have a cooldown.
    • There seems to be a glitch where if the player hits Maurice twice in a row, the second hit will not register, no animation will be played and no damage dealt.
    • Defeating both Maurice and Billy in the second wave will end the RP.
  4. Talk to Antonio again. You will now arrive in Belvast.
  5. Talk to Admiral Owen at the Fleet Commander's Official Residence in the Commonwealth of Belvast. You are prompted It was nice or It was dull.
  6. Raise the Belvast Trading Post Merchant Rating to 2.
    • The easiest way is to go back and forth from Belvast to Emain Macha. Be wary of Osna Sail when crossing through it, as the paths are narrow and many of the paths have Brown Dire Wolves in them.
  7. Return to Admiral Owen. Prompted: Greet Formally or Simply Nod. You will then be given a Belvast Whiskey, 1000 Seasonal Ducats, and 3 HP & MP 100 Potions .
  8. Give Lucas the Belvast Whiskey. Prompted: Admiral Owen... or Barry... and Accept or Refuse.
  9. Complete the quest, and wait for the next one. [25,000 EXP]

A Will and Willpower

Instruction

  1. Talk to Portia in her house, located next to Castanea's position within Filia. Prompted: Propose to her or Tell her she is pretty and Of course or Make it short. You will receive Portia's Compass.
  2. Drop the Compass on the altar of Longa Desert Ruins to start Portia's Memory RP Dungeon.
    • You will roleplay as Portia. It is advised to use archery with her.
    • It is a 2 floor dungeon and contains a mix of monsters from the various Longa Arrow Dungeons, including those from Mysterious Arrow.
    • A cutscene will begin upon entering the boss room, ending the RP.
  3. Return to Portia. She will give you Portia's Love Letter and Waxen Wing of the Blue Goddess (Filia).
    • You may choose to read the letter, however this will negatively affect the outcome at the end of the Generation.
  4. Complete the quest, and wait for the next one. [17,500 EXP]

Price of Love

Instruction

  1. Talk to Antonio at the top of the Pub in the Commonwealth of Belvast. Prompted: Bassanio... or Portia... and Shake his hand or Ignore him. He will give you a Gold Pouch with 10,000g in it.
  2. Talk to Bassanio in the Pub in Port Cobh. Prompted: Give him the letter or Slap him and Give him 10,000 Gold or Pretend to not know anything. You will deliver Portia's Love Letter and the 10,000g.
    • If you somehow spend the 10,000 Gold given to you, it will come out of your inventory.
    • If you have Premium Service active, make sure to have the 10,000 gold in the General Tab of your Inventory. Having it in the VIP Tab will make Bassanio think you spent the money.
    • If you select Pretend to not know anything, you will keep the 10,000g.
  3. Return to Antonio.
  4. Talk to Shylock in the Commonwealth of Belvast, located near the graveyard. Prompted: Antonio... or Bassanio..., 30 million Gold or As much as possible, and He did not say or In 3 months. You will receive Shylock's Alby Dungeon Pass.
    • If you choose Bassanio..., you will be redirected back to Antonio... This counts as two negative actions.
  5. Drop the Pass in Alby Dungeon.
    • This dungeon has 2 floors.
    • You must be in a party of 3 to enter. The leader will play as their own character, and the other two members will role-play as Bassanio and Antonio.
    • The difficulty of the dungeon is determined by the Party Leader's level.
    • Enter the boss room to watch a cutscene.
    • The reward chest will contain a Red Upgrade Stone and/or a Blue Upgrade Stone.
      • Only the party leader (person who played as their own character) will receive a key to the reward chest.
  6. Complete the quest [47,500 EXP] to view a cutscene.
    • There seems to be a glitch where skipping the cutscene will automatically close the client, and replay the cutscene when re-opened.
    • Warning: A glitch occurs if the leader happens to use barrier spikes. Doing so will automatically trigger the beginning cutscene again immediately after use. (This glitch was fixed)
  7. Wait for the next quest.

The First Rebirth

  1. Talk to Marlowe to receive Shakespeare's Journal Page 7.
  2. Use it to view a cutscene and start the Shadow Mission, Shakespeare, Revived, RPing as Shakespeare.
    • Shakespeare has a Wooden Stick, Defense, Smash, Counterattack, Windmill, Combat Mastery, and Critical Hit.
    • Be wary of multi aggro, you may be finished in a few blows if you are successively hit.
    • Bella will aid you.
      • Bella has high HP and Heavy Stander, but very low damage.
      • Try to not get into Bella's hit range, she can inflict splash damage on you.
      • If Bella dies, the mission will fail.
    • Watch cutscene upon completion of RP.
  3. Complete the quest. [25,000 EXP]
  4. Wait for the next quest.

Gold and Silver

Instruction

  1. Talk to Bassanio at the Garden in Belvast. You will receive Bassanio's Reply and a Barley Tea.
    • You may choose to read the letter, however this will negatively affect the outcome at the end of the Generation.
    • The Barley Tea does not need to be delivered to anyone; it is simply a gift.
  2. Deliver Bassanio's Reply to Portia in Filia. Prompted: Accept or What about compensation... She will give you Ashes from Portia and a Waxen Wing of the Blue Goddess (Filia).
  3. Drop the Ashes from Portia in Rabbie Dungeon.
    • If you need to re-enter the dungeon you may talk to Portia for another Ashes from Portia. She remarks that she is surprised you find the task difficult and reminds you to bring a pretty skull.
    • The dungeon has 1 floor of about 15 rooms. Only one other person may join you. Spawns consist entirely of rats, including Cave Rat, Sewer Rat, Brown Town Rat.
      • The Cave Rats come in very large numbers and multi-aggro very quickly and from very far away, and have an AI similar to that of a Gremlin where they will occasionally circle their enemies and attack at random. Use Area of Effect attacks such as Windmill or pet AoEs to defeat them quickly.
      • Sewer Rats are multi-aggro, poisonous, inflict high amounts of damage, and usually spawn with large amounts of Cave Rats.
    • Boss: Skeleton (Mini Light Armor) + 3x Red Skeleton (Heavy Armor) + 2 Skeleton Wolves + Skeleton Squad (Weak).
    • Curiously, while some mobs drop treasure chest keys, this dungeon has no treasure chest room.
  4. You will obtain the Horrifying Skeleton after defeating the boss.
  5. Deliver Horrifying Skeleton to Portia. Prompted: Not at all or Yes, they were and It was great or I was bored. You will receive another Waxen Wing of the Blue Goddess (Filia).
  6. Talk to Pierrick in Taillteann. Pay 50,000 Gold to obtain Clown Doll.
  7. Complete the quest, and wait for the next one. [47,500 EXP]

Heart Made of Lead

  1. Deliver Shylock's Seed Chest to Blatt located at the Farm Manager Post at Taillteann. Prompted: Yes (Will appear as "Actually..." If you opened the box) or Pretend to not know He will give you three hundred Pumpkins, one hundred and fifty Tomatoes, and ten HP 100 Potions.
    • You will not receive the HP 100 Potions if you chose Pretend not to know and/or have opened the box.
  2. Deliver the Pumpkins and Tomatoes to Hicca's Mom in the Commonwealth of Belvast, west of the Garden and east of the Courthouse. You will receive a Strawberry Milk.
    • You will then be prompted: Girlfriend for Hicca or End Conversation and Accept or Refuse.
    • If you chose to end the conversation, Accept or Refuse will not appear.
  3. Talk to Shylock. Prompted: Serves him right or That poor man. You will receive Shylock's Journal.
  4. Talk to Admiral Owen and you will receive Creek Crow Admiral Owen's Open-Finger Gloves.

Instruction

  1. Talk to Bassanio located at Portia's house in Filia. After selecting Nod your head, a cutscene will play followed by the Shadow Mission, Escape from Belvast.
    • You only have thirteen minutes to finish this mission.
    • Portia will aid you within the mission. If she dies, the mission fails.
      • She has unusually low HP and Defense, and can die very quickly.
    • In the Commonwealth of Belvast, four waves of Belvast Guardsman will be blocking your path leading you to the north side of the Bank. When you clear the 4th wave, a cutscene will play. Afterwards, one more lesser wave must be defeated before another cutscene will play and end the mission.
      • You should also avoid the Belvast Guard Commander as they can deal fatal damage, mostly killing you or Portia in one hit.
    • It is possible for Portia to be killed by the final spawn while you are watching the cutscene, causing you to fail, even though a 'new' Portia spawns once you finish the cutscene.
    • Take caution, as the "Revival in Town" option will cause you to revive in Belvast, rather than Filia.
    • The Belvast Guard Commanders are similar to the Giant Guards in Vales; avoid them at all costs.
    • Shadow Mission Rewards:
      • 47,499 EXP
  2. Talk to Portia.
  3. Complete the quest. [25,000 EXP]
  4. Wait for the next quest.

Shylock's Contract

Instruction

  1. Talk to Shylock who is standing near the Old Ruin (the artifact located in the three-way path connecting to Tir Chonaill, Alby Dungeon, and Sidhe Sneachta). Prompted: Console him or Leave him alone and Yes or No. You will receive Shylock's Alby Dungeon Pass.
  2. Drop the Pass in Alby Dungeon.
    • You may bring up to two people with you.
    • The dungeon consists of 7 Floors and has spawns that is a mix of Alby Basic and Alby Intermediate.
      • Floors 1 through 4 are rather short in length, containing 4 to 5 rooms and mostly contains Alby Basic spawns.
      • Floors 5 through 6 become relatively lengthy, containing around 10 rooms and mostly contains Alby Intermediate spawns.
      • Floor 7 is similar to Floors 1 through 4.
    • Defeat Bran who awaits you in boss room and Generation 15 will end.
  3. Complete the quest. [50,000 EXP, 40 Ability Points]
    • You will be rewarded with the Journal Achievement: The Merchant of Venice, the Persona Shylock's Step, the Sonnet Enchant Scroll, Shakespeare's Journal, and one of the two Mainstream Titles: the Sharer of Joy or the Lone Wolf.
      • The Title obtained will be determined by the choices you made during the entirety of this Generation's quests.
        • You will receive the Sharer of Joy Title if you chose the more affirmative choices. It adds 20 Will and 10 Luck.
        • You will receive the Lone Wolf Title if you chose the more negative choices. It adds 10 Stamina and 5 Defense.
    • If you have completed Generation 15 prior to the G17S4 renewal, you will receive a congratulatory quest for clearing Generation 15 and receive 40 Ability Points after completion of the quest.

Trivia

  • Unlike the other Generations within Chapter 4, Generation 15 only has one actual movie-like cutscene; the prologue.
  • Unlike other Generations within Chapter 4, the movie-like cutscenes have no narration.
  • Unlike the other Generations within Chapter 4, the Globe Theatre takes no part within this Generation.
  • Unlike the previous Generations within Chapter 4, only one Persona is rewarded instead of three.
  • Shakespeare within the game did not actually write The Merchant of Venice. Instead, he staged events that would lead to it.
