Description

The Soul Stream is the first place Milletians reach before entering Erinn. It is a floating space between dimensions that cannot be easily accessed by Erinn's inhabitants.

Nao is the sole resident of the area, and guides Milletians through the Soulstream. Numerous owls fly in the area, the messenger owls being Nao's point of contact with Erinn.

Game Mechanics

Players go through the Soul Stream for various game mechanics, namely Rebirth and during their birthday. (the character's original creation day - not necessarily Saturday, the age-up day)

History

Generation 15: Merchant of Venice

Years ago a young Morrighan created the Soul Stream after discovering a "hole" in the sky, presumably the portal to another world in which the Milletians came from, which she called a "Magical Door." Cichol was afraid, but succumbed to Morrighan's will. Seeing a threat in the Soul Stream, he later proposes that she places a seal to prevent outsiders from Erinn from entering, but she disagrees. This eventually resulted in the end of their friendship.

Sometime later, Shakespeare accidentally stumbles into the Soul Stream and arrives in Erinn, though how he appears in the Soul Stream is unknown.

Mainstream Story

Generation 10: Goddess of Light (Spoilers)

Cichol attempts to destroy the Soul Stream to begin "Tir Na Nog's Doom." He uses the final boss, the Doppelganger, to do so. It is fought in a previously unvisited portion of the Soul Stream. There, a large portion of the platform is made of a transparent material, and in the center, there is a large Celtic Knot, the symbol of Mabinogi. Although it is not certain where the stairs that lead downward or upward head to, it is assumed that these stairs lead down to Erinn and up to other portion of the Soul Stream.

Generation 16: Macbeth (Spoilers)

When Shakespeare asks Cichol about being a "Puppet of the Goddess", he claims that the Soul Stream is responsible for the disasters occuring in Tir Na Nog, which is why he wants to destroy it. When Morrighan failed to protect the world with Milletians, she chose to seal it off.
If "Destruction of Paradise" is chosen, Cichol reveals that the Soul Stream was not of Erinn and the Gods were incapable of controlling it. Morrighan tried using Milletians, which instead only hastened the demise. The Shadow Realm, the Other World, and the Beach of Scathach were severely corrupted by the Soul Stream, although how it was affecting these areas is never explained.

Morrighan plans to use Bella, the Emissary of Destruction, to seal off the Soul Stream. To achieve this, Bella possesses Lugh who then recruits Peaca's undead forces and stages a massive war between them and the Tuatha de Dananns of the entire Aliech Kingdom. The genocide produced enough souls which, along with Bella's own, would be sacrificed to seal off the Soul Stream. The action succeeds and Morrighan claims the Soul Stream will no longer affect Tir Na Nog.

The Saga: Iria (Spoilers)

In Episode 6 Nao reveals that the Soul Stream has been polluted, allowing the Cessair to possess the Milletians to transform them into demonic creatures and use them to attack Erinn's inhabitants. The only way to stop this would be to destroy the Soul Stream altogether, though this is not an option.

Ruairi and Tarlach reveal in the NPC Commentary that they somehow came in contact with the Soul Stream and inherited Milletian traits, including rapid aging.

In Episode 8, it is revealed that Tarlach put the pollution on the Soul Stream as a plot to destroy the Gods under the belief that they and the Soul Stream are the cause of Erinn's problems.

In Episode 10, with Tarlach's eventual downfall, it is unknown if the Soul Stream remains polluted and if the Milletians are still affected by it.

Trivia

• Nao will always face the player.
• The soulstream seems to have multiple levels, with the area where Nao stands being the highest one.
• When rebirthing as a Pet, Tin will appear in Nao's place and follow the same procedures as if rebirthing through a humanoid character.
  • Tin is otherwise never seen at the Soulstream.
• During the April Fool's Event, when the player logs in, Ferghus will appear in Nao's place, giving them a Ferghus's Free Repair Coupon.
