Talk to Padan
[Cutscene]
[A corrupt version of Cai strides across the Soul Stream. He takes on a stance before becoming surrounded by a dark aura.]
[End of Cutscene]
[Upon receiving a request from Padan, you find him at a small camp nearby the Stonehenge in Tara.]
Padan
Welcome, CharacterName.
Shadow Hero CharacterName, your reputation and what you've done in Taillteann
are well known even here in Tara, the capital city of Aliech Kingdom.
- Continue
CharacterName, we called you
because of the threat of the Shadow Realm.
Shadow Realm, which started in Taillteann, has already expanded to the kingdom's capital city, Tara.
- Continue
King Ethur Mac Cuill of Aliech Kingdom has declared a state of emergency
and has been determined to stand against the Fomors.
But as the face off has become drawn out,
the situation has become more difficult.
- Continue
We especially need help from experienced heroes like yourself, CharacterName.
On behald of the Royal Guard, I ask you, CharacterName.
Please lend us your help.
- Continue
Go to the Shadow Realm right now and rescue our expeditionary force soldiers.
- Continue
Thank you, please rescue our soldier.
Also, just to warn you, there are many dangerous monsters inside the Shadow Realm
that we don't even know about.
- Continue
From what I've been told, the newly discovered Shadow Ghosts are incredibly powerful and difficult to handle alone.
I would implore you, especially since we are so outnumbered,
to refrain from engaging the Shadow Ghosts in battle if possible.
- End Conversation
Rescue the Soldier
[You head to the Shadow Realm via the nearby Stonehenge's altar to rescue the aforementioned soldier. Inside, you find yourself immersed within the Shadow Realm's version of Tara.]
[Cutscene]
[A group consisting of Bone Archers, Bone Fighters, and Bone Lancers surround a soldier.]
[End of Cutscene]
[To free the soldier from the clutches of the Fomors, you take down the group of enemies surrounding him.]
[Cutscene]
[You relax from your fighting stance once the battle ends. The soldier takes a good look at you.]
Imprisoned Royal Guard
Aren't you... CharacterName, the Shadow Hero?
Thank you so much...
I thought I would never step foot in my hometown of Bangor again.
What is this world coming to?
- Continue
I'm sure you've witnessed it
yourself on the way here,
but there are strange things happening inside Shadow Realm's Tara.
- Continue
Evil spirits, that look as if they've sprung
out of the Metus valley far across the Moyer Ocean
roam throughout the Shadow Realm...
- Continue
And Cai.
Did you hear about the rumor that Cai the Alchemist
has been seen inside the Shadow Realm?
- Continue
I didn't believe it at first either.
At least, not until I experienced my nightmare.
Cai is no longer human.
- Continue
Oh, how he emitted darkness as he continued his slaughter...
One by one, my comrades fell...
- Continue
It was horrific.
As soon as I leave this place, I'm leaving the Royal guard.
I'm planning on returning home and joining the family business.
- Continue
...The first day I entered the Royal Guard.
My comrades who stood with me through thick and thin inside the Shadow Realm...
They all seem like a dream now.
- Continue
[End of Cutscene]
- Receive Royal Guardsman Coat of Arms
Talk to Padan
[Having completed the mission, you return to Padan to inform him.]
Padan
I recently heard of the horror story about the Shadow Alchemist
that has been spreading amongst the soldiers.
- Continue
They say that this Shadow Alchemist is neither human nor fomor[sic],
which makes it more frightening.
- Continue
Rumors are that it uses some sort of alchemy skill without any kind of equipment,
and although it's probably exaggerated,
they say it is as powerful as Claimh Solas.
- Continue
They also say if you stare into its dark and despairing eyes,
you will fall into a nightmarish trance, as if you're experiencing the end of the world.
- Continue
This is the first time there has been this kind of detail about the story.
The 2nd Knighthood, which the soldier was a part of,
was one of the elite units within the Royal Guard.
- Continue
It was this unit that was at the forefront of the Taillteann Shadow Expedition,
and it had an excellent record during the multiple battles of the Shadow War as well.
I can't believe the 2nd Knighthood was destroyed like that...
We need to take some military measures.
- Continue
I recently received a report regarding the alchemist, Cai.
There is a investigative report about the shadow Realm written up by a fellow alchemist, Leymore,
and I was able to unofficially obtain this backdoor.
- Continue
You should take a look at the report.
It might help you make sense of the strange things that have been detected recently in the Shadow Realm.
But it doesn't appear like you can reach the location Leymore was researching through Tara's Stonehenge.
I know it's tedious, but you'll have to go to Taillteann's altar.
- End Conversation
- Receive Leymore's Journal
[You go to Taillteann and enter the Shadow Realm via the Stonehenge's altar.]
[Cutscene]
[Leymore walks into the barren square in Shadow Realm Taillteann.]
Onscreen message: Cai...
[Leymore kneels down, holding a single yellow flower in his hand. He places it on the ground as he thinks back on what happened.
Previously, he had used Life Drain on Claimh Solas, causing it to explode and kill him. Cai and Jenna then rushed over to meet his lifeless body. As Jenna knelt down to lament the loss, Cai performed alchemy on Leymore to revive him. Cai fell to the ground lifelessly afterwards disappearing in a flash of bright light.
In the present, Leymore stands up again, then looks up to the sky.]
[End of Cutscene]
[You are whisked into Leymore's memory. As Leymore, you travel alongside Lake Neagh in search of the Shadow Walker, Elatha. You soon come to find him.]
[Cutscene]
Leymore
I heard about you from Andras.
She said that the Shadow Walker, who walks hidden in darkness,
will know even the secrets of the Shadow Realm.
- Continue
Elatha, please help me.
I want to know the truth about the death of my friend, Cai.
- Continue
Elatha
So, even a Noitar Arat Alchemist was ultimately nothing more than a human.
A being that's been determined to live for a limited time in search of the truth...
This is indeed a sad fate, but I suppose humans would try seek[sic] comfort through grief.
- Continue
If I told you that fate is the greatest of all human privileges,
would you understand?
I am not speaking of the tedious eternity that the gods must endure...
- Continue
A Shadow Walker is cursed
to spend an eternity in suffering.
A pain that is greater than death.
- Continue
This is the penalty that Cai now faces
for using the Alchemy of Caliburn
to restore a friend's life.
- Continue
[Leymore moves a bit closer.]
Leymore
Caliburn?
Cai couldn't have used the Caliburn!
- Continue
[Elatha turns towards the lake, moving closer to it.]
Elatha
The Caliburn was always in Cai's possession.
Unfortunately, Cai wasn't skilled enough to handle the Caliburn.
- Continue
It was a foolish decision.
He knew better than anyone
that using the Caliburn with the cylinder's crystal
would consume his soul...
- Continue
It is a curse brought on by
a foolish Alchemist who ventured into a forbidden domain.

Talk to Andras
[You decide to speak to Andras in Taillteann.]
Andras
It's been awhile, CharacterName.
I heard about your situation from Captain Padan.
I, too, have been carefully observing the changes that have been occurring in the Shadow Realm lately.
- Continue
Since the expansion of Tara's Shadow Realm was expected to happen
after Noitar Arat opened, it wasn't that shocking.
What concerns me more is the Shadow Prison Ghost sighting in the Shadow Realm.
- Continue
As you already know, Shadow Prison Ghosts are
Iria's aboriginal spirits that are spotted in Metus.
It's strange that Iria's spirits are convening
not only in the Shadow Realm, but along with the Fomors.
- Continue
If you want to find out more detailed information regarding the Shadow Realm,
it might be a good idea to meet with Elatha, the Shadow Walker.
There is no one else who knows more about the Shadow Realm.
- Continue
You will run into Elatha naturally on your way towards the Shadow Realm.
Although it was a short meeting, Elatha and I
already had a long-established mutual connection and understanding.
- Continue
If I meet him again with a more open mind,
I might be able to put aside my prejudices against Shadow Walkers.
I prepared something that will be useful to you, CharacterName.
- Continue
It's a music box I had been working on sporadically for Elatha...
It's not quite finished, so it's not that nice,
but you can use it to read both our memorials.
- End Conversation
- Receive Andras's Music Box
[You use the music box given to you by Andras.]
[Cutscene]
Onscreen message: What Elatha revealed to me for the first time...
was not his past, but rather the pain he had endured for so long.
Onscreen message: A cruel curse
with no beginning or end...
He suffered and endured.
Onscreen message: When he pointed his sword
at Lebbaeus, a friend as dear to him as as own brother,
he felt as if all the light in the world had disappeared
and as if his heartbeat was no more.
Onscreen message: With light nowhere to be seen in this world,
all he had left
was the life of a Shadow Walker, a ghost wandering amongst the shadows.
Onscreen message: But I knew him.
I had remembered him
for a long time.
Onscreen message: I understood him.
His pain, his scars.
...and darkness.
Onscreen message: I hope that in me
he will be able to forget the darkness.
[End of Cutscene]
[You head back to the Stonehenge and enter the Shadow Realm via the altar. There, you find yourself nearby the Beacon Mound, where various Shadow enemies are present. You take down the enemies, then head to Taillteann in search of Elatha. You eventually find him by the Steam Ovens outside of the Alchemist House.]
[Cutscene]
[You walk up to the Steam Ovens. Elatha, whose mind is initially elsewhere, turns his head to look at you. You move closer into the scene.]
[End of Cutscene]
Elatha
The expansion of Shadow Realm, the opening of Noitar Arat,
and the disappearance of the Rock of Fate, Caliburn, and Shadow Realm's Cai...
- Continue
I get the feeling that all these events
that have been occurring recently
are connected by some unknown link.
- Continue
Shadow Cai, who has been encroached by Caliburn,
is being controlled by Caliburn's great power.
- Continue
Cai's actions are not of his own consciousness,
but of Caliburn's will.
Do you remember Cichol's last words at Noitar Arat?
- Continue
...The return of Goddess Neamhain.
Along with Morrighan and Macha, Neamhain is the goddess of Badhbh Cath
but she is also known as Caliburn's goddess as well.
- Continue
The return of Neamhain must have something to do with Caliburn.
We must find out more about Goddess Neamhain.
Neamhain's clues can be obtained from people at Tara, the city of Caliburn.

- Continue
I once traveled alone all throughout Iria
for over a year with nothing more than a sketchbook.
I wanted to see with my own eyes
all the unfamiliar scenery, the vegetation and the animals, and capture it on paper.
- Continue
And I think it happened when I was passing through Longa Desert...
I had spent a night in the desert, when I saw
the Palala piercing through the sand-covered horizon to bring in a new morning.
- Continue
Suddenly, on this lifeless desert where there was nothing besides the ocassional cactus lizards,
I saw this strange woman walking towards me along the glaring Palala light.
- Continue
As I gazed at this beautiful and mesmerizing sight,
I thought to myself, if there is a goddess in this world, it must be her...
Then I politely requested for this woman to be a model for my drawing.
- Continue

but I'll only consider it if you first do me a favor.
- Continue
There's this rare book I've been inquiring about for some time.
It's such an old book with only a few print made that its value cannot be measured...
As luck would have it, I was recently able to get my hands on one of the copies.
- Continue
I sent a servant to retrieve the book, but I haven't heard from him for a few days now.

I can't just hand it to anyone.

The 'Book of Tir Na Nog's Doom' is the dream of
Conellie the 4th, the first pope of the Lymilark church,
which has been written down as prophecy.
Although it is an important text that deals with the end times,
the entire book has not been fully interpreted due to the difficulty of the text.
- Continue
Recently, the church has been fearing that some of the signs of the end times
mentioned in the text have been manifesting in real life.
Perhaps even the warning of Goddess Neamhain that you said to have experienced
is in line with the flow and content that is alluded to in the Book of Tir Na Nog's Doom.
- Continue
No matter how much we try to deny it, these manifestations of the prophecies are difficult to disregard.
Things mentioned in the prophecy, such as the Moonlight of Death, Heart of Land, and the Soaring of the Gold Dragon
can all be said to be clues that point towards Iria.

I wonder if this engagement ring, which I bought off of Nicca for a premium, is going to do the job.

But when I awaoke,
I realized that the dream was a nightmare.

[Suddenly, Cichol appears.]
Cichol
Goddess of Light,
you completed your mission well.
- Continue
In return,
I have prepared a special gift for you, Goddess.
- Continue
[Elatha appears next to Cichol.]
Neamhain
Ci...Cichol...
What are you trying to do?
- Continue
Didn't you and I
have the same goal for Tir Na Nog?
- Continue
Cichol
Of course.
The purification of Tir Na Nog is also the will of the Fomors.
Only difference is that the Fomors have chosen blood purification.
- Continue
Blood purification
will begin with the destruction of the Soulstream.
- Continue
Neamhain
...Cichol.
Was this your plan all this time?
- Continue
Cichol. Do not use that child.
He...
...He doesn't know anything yet.

[Possessed Cai becomes shrouded in a dark aura. He reappears with Elatha's form. Meanwhile, Elatha observes this.]
Neamhain
You do not have to do this, Elatha.
- Continue
You have power within you.
Power passed down from me.
- Continue
The power of light
can even make the darkness of Noitar Arat
disappear.
- Continue
Accept that power.
My son.
Accepting it
is the destiny that you must choose.
- Continue
[Elatha turns to face his mother.]
Elatha
From the beginning,
the Light was not my choice.
It was not my destiny.
- Continue
[He steps closer to Neamhain.]
Elatha
It was only your will.
Will of the Goddess...
That is the reason I have left the light
and chosen darkness.
- Continue
[Elatha then walks over to you.]
Elatha

I must leave this item with you.
It is a music box that contains Andras's song.

despite walking as a Shadow Walker for so long.

that always reminded

Leymore
The destrucion of Soulstream has begun.
We must stop it somehow!

Haha... This shall then be the last banquet
before the end of Tir Na Nog.

Aah...is the last page of the prophecy
regarding the end about to be filled?

Morrighan

will be rewritten by CharacterName.
- Continue
Neamhain
I suppose...
there will be some sort of future.
- Continue
...But will that truly be
the future Tir Na Nog we had dreamed about?
- Continue
[The gods and Leymore remain on the altar. In the Soulstream, Possessed Cai strides across the platform. He then takes on a stance. You, right there with him, take on a combat stance.]
CharacterName
Stop! Cai!
- Continue
[Shrouded by light, Possessed Cai assumes the godlike state from before and also takes on a battle stance.]
[End of Cutscene]
[Now locked in a battle with Possessed Cai, who has become your Doppelganger, you avoid engaging with them. Once the Doppelganger starts to taunt you, you use Elatha's Music Box. The Doppelganger is then stunned.]
Onscreen message: The Doppelganger seems to be feeling pain.
[While the Doppelganger remains stunned, you use the borrowed Alchemy equipment and cast Life Drain on them.]
[Cutscene]
[The Doppelganger, shrouded by an ominous red aura, grabs their head in pain. You take advantage of the opportunity and attack the Doppelganger with Spear of Light. When the attack comes in contact with them, the light explodes, destroying the Doppelganger completely. For a moment, nothing but black smoke remains where they once stood. Suddenly, Cai appears in a flash of light and feather. He stumbles over, passed out. You run over and kneel down to check on him. Once satisfied, you stand up again. Nao appears as you do so.]
