Information
Instruction

  1. Talk to Annick.
    • A cutscene will occur.
  2. Talk to Merlin.
    • A cutscene will occur.
  3. Talk to either Black Beard, Black Bart, or Barbados and you will be asked to be taken into the Shadow Mission, Principles of a Pirate.
    • You will role-play as yourself.
    • The goal of this mission is to win an insult game against 5 pirate NPCs, then against their captain, El Draco. Talk with an NPC and select [Fight!] to begin a match. Select [Let's fight!] to begin the insult game.
      • The insult games are played through a series of prompts. The first player to win 3 exchanges wins the insult game. At the start of any insult game, you select one of 10+ insults. If your opponent has no retort, you'll win the exchange and will be able to insult them again. If your opponent does have a retort, they'll win that exchange and get their turn to insult you, then you get to select one of 9+ retorts. If you select the correct retort to their insult, you'll win the exchange and the control of selecting an insult. Otherwise they retain control and get to insult you again.
      • When viewing prompts, you may scroll up or down with the mouse wheel or by clicking the arrows on the right. You always start at the bottom of the list, scroll up for more options.
      • You start off with knowledge of 10 insults and 9 retorts. Each time you use an insult, you'll "learn" the response from your opponent regardless of whether they gave a witty retort or not. Each time you are insulted, you'll "learn" the insult from your opponent. You learn nothing from failing a retort.
      • Each NPC has their own defined set of available insults and retorts. Thus, winning the game can be described as successfully selecting a series of insults from which your opponents do not have a retort.
    • When fighting Flail
      • Any last words? My sword would like to hear them.
      • It's time ya got a look at a true pirate.
      • I may look weak but I have my tricks!
    • When fighting Blackbeard
      • Any last words? My sword would like to hear them.
      • My glare is enough to defeat you, guppy!
      • I may look weak but I have my tricks!
    • When fighting Barbados
      • If I knew they'd let a wimp like you be a priate, I woulda joined the circus.
      • Back down now and I won't kill ya.
      • Do ya hear them cheering on their leader? That's me!
    • When fighting Calico Jack
      • Any last words? My sword would like to hear them.
      • Do ya hear them cheering on their leader? That's me!
      • Bartender! Get me a drink! I can't look at this ugly mug sober.
    • When fighting Black Bart
      • Any last words? My sword would like to hear them.
      • It's time ya got a look at a true pirate.
      • I'm faster than the wind.
    • After defeating the 5 underlings at insult games, your next objective is to defeat El Draco. You can not defeat him as effortlessly as his underlings because you only have two insults for which he doesn't have a retort. If you can correctly retort one of his insults, you can then win the insult game by proceeding to use the known insults. Therefore, to win against El Draco, do the following.
      • Start an insult game against El Draco and pick one of these insults he is known to also use.
        • Back down now and I won't kill ya.
        • I'm faster than the wind.
        • Bartender! Get me a drink! I can't look at this ugly mug sober.
        • You can't outwit me, I'm brilliant!
      • You'll lose the exchange and El Draco will insult you. Check the Response Guide tab in order to see if you have a correct retort for his insult. If you don't have the correct retort, pick any other retort and retry. Whether you can win will always be random. If you lose the insult game, try again. Keep trying until you can pick a correct retort.
      • Once you have picked a correct retort, use the following two insults to win the game:
        • Any last words? My sword would like to hear them.
        • Do ya hear them cheering on their leader? That's me!
    • If you leave or fail the mission, you'll retain every insult and retort that you learned in the previous attempt. Replaying Episode 2 will reset your known insults and retorts back to their default.
    • Once you win an insult battle against El Draco, the mission will be complete and a cutscene will occur. You must manually leave the mission afterwards.
  4. Talk to Annick.
  5. Meet Merlin at the pub in Port Cobh.
    • Talk to Merlin to initiate a cutscene. Afterwards, you will be taken into the Shadow Mission, Tarlach's Nightmare.
    • Upon beginning the mission, a dialogue will appear with Berched and Mores.
      • For the duration of this mission, avoid conflict at all costs and run along the path.
    • Upon finishing the dialogue, Glas Ghaibhleann will appear. Run away from Glas Ghaibhleann along the path and towards the light until Merlin shows up. A dialogue will begin.
    • After the dialogue with Merlin, 8 Zombies will appear. Keep running along the path until Starlet appears.
      • The Zombies have the ability to run after you.
    • A cutscene will begin after the conversation with Starlet.
  6. Talk to Merlin.
    • A cutscene will occur.
  7. Complete the quest. [30,000 EXP; 25,000 Gold]
