Description

|
|
Gold is the currency of Erinn. Spend it on goods and services.
- Gold can be withdrawn as an item by clicking the 'Gold' button displayed beneath your equipment in a stack of up to 50,000, which you can drop or gift to an NPC.
- Attempting to place Gold in item form into the inventory will convert it into a numerical value displayed underneath your equipment and will not take up actual inventory space.
- Up to 1,000,000 numerical Gold can be traded through the trade window at a time, provided the other party has enough Gold capacity to hold it.
Storing Gold
On Characters
- The maximum amount of Gold that a player character, Pet, and Partner can carry by default is 1,000,000 (1 Million) Gold.
- If you would reach or otherwise exceed your maximum limit of Gold, then you cannot obtain any more until you store your Gold in the Bank or a pet/partner.
- A player character's Gold limit will be increased by an additional 1 Million Gold once they reach a cumulative level of 10,000.
- The Gold limit can be increased further through the use of consumable Gold Boxes, up to a maximum amount of 100 Million Gold.
- These items will only work on player characters; the Gold limits of Pets and Partners are fixed at 1 million Gold and cannot be increased.
In the Bank
- The maximum amount of Gold you can store in the Bank is 70 Million Gold upon creating your first character, then increases by 20 Million Gold per character, up until the 10th character. Every character after that will increase the Gold limit of the bank by 10 Million instead.
- The maximum bank limit via creating more characters on the account is 2,100,000,000 (2.1 Billion) Gold.
- Pets and Partners do not count towards the Gold limit of the Bank.
- The maximum bank limit can be increased by using Bank Limit Expansion Coupons, which can be purchased from the Web Shop using NX.
- The maximum bank limit via using Expansion Coupons is 30,000,000,000 (30 Billion) Gold.
- This value is the absolute bank limit and once reached, you cannot increase the limit any further through other means, including creating more characters on the account.
- The maximum bank limit via using Expansion Coupons is 30,000,000,000 (30 Billion) Gold.
Obtaining Gold
Monster Drops
- Most monsters can drop Gold when killed.
- Some monsters drop more Gold than others; generally monsters in harder dungeons have the potential to drop larger quantities of Gold.
- The quantity of Gold dropped may, at random times, be doubled or even tripled through Lucky Finishes.
- Like most other drop items, only the player who finished off the monster in question may pick up its gold until the monster's corpse has disappeared.
- After the dead monster disappears, any player may recover its drops.
- Small amounts of Gold will disappear quickly if left too long. Larger amounts of Gold will remain on the ground for a longer time.
Chests (Dungeon Rewards/Exploration)
- Gold may also be acquired from Dungeons and Dungeon-like Missions; as a reward, for completion, and within chests throughout.
- Chests besides the final reward chest in Dungeon rooms can contain small sums of Gold.
- In Dungeons, players may happen upon dungeon rooms with 9 chests in a 3 x 3 formation. These chests are locked with keys which are dropped by monsters spawned on the same floor.
- Some of these chests may summon monsters but others will drop Gold, enchants, or equipment.
- At the end of each Dungeon, following the boss room, a chest will be provided for each member of the Dungeon's original Party.
- These chests always contain a generous amount of Gold and may contain a rare or enchanted item as well.
- If you were not in the Party when it originally entered the dungeon, there will not be a chest.
- Same applies if another person enters the dungeon, but was not part of the Party that originally entered.
- If you are in a Party, but are not on the same floor than the Boss Room when the door is opened, there will be no chest provided.
- However, if a person leaves the Party, they can come back to receive a key at the boss, provided they dropped the same item as the leader.
- This does not apply to Dungeon Passes. Dropping the same Dungeon Pass will result in another different Dungeon layout.
- In eligible Dungeons, failing to meet the requirements of the Participation Timer means a player will not earn a key even if they otherwise should.
Shadow Missions, Theatre Missions and Missions
- Another method of obtaining Gold is by running other similar content:
- The Shadow Missions present in Taillteann or Tara
- The Theatre Missions in Avon
- The Missions in Alban Knights Training Grounds, Sidhe Finnachaid, Mag Mell, Tech Duinn or Crom Bas.
- Shadow Missions differ from Party Quests in a beneficial way as everyone who took part in the Mission receives 100% of the Mission's Gold upon completion.
- The amount of Gold earned depends on the Mission's Type and Difficulty.
- For Shadow and Theatre Missions, in addition to the mission rewards, after beating the boss, a chest spawns, awarding more Gold and other rewards.
- In eligible Dungeons, failing to meet the requirements of the Participation Timer means a player will not earn a key even if they otherwise should, and reward Gold is halved.
Selling Items
- Players may choose to sell their wares or discovered valuables to NPCs or other players.
- Experienced players who dare to venture into the depths of difficult dungeons or have advanced production skills may discover superior income via this method.
- All items have set sell value, which is usually determined by the item's NPC price. It is typically 1/10th of the NPC Sell price for items that is at least 10,000 Gold.
- It is also effected by an item's current Durability.
- Beginners may often sell items to NPCs for a small amount of income, but generally selling to other players is more efficient.
- Opening a Personal Shop requires an Item Shop Bag.
- See Personal Shop and Merchant License for more info.
- The Auction House feature can be used to list, buy, and sell items.
- It is fairly common to see players standing around towns with Party requests open over their heads, indicating they are selling or looking to buy a given item indicated on the dialogue.
- These dialogues are scrolled periodically in your "All" chat tab (blue by default) and in the "Party" chat tab, making this a convenient, albeit unofficially acceptable, means of advertising your wares.
- This is because the dialogues were meant to advertise Dungeon Parties and not player sales.
- These dialogues are scrolled periodically in your "All" chat tab (blue by default) and in the "Party" chat tab, making this a convenient, albeit unofficially acceptable, means of advertising your wares.
Common Terms
- There are common terms used by players when using the Party Ads to get their message across the world of Mabinogi.
- "Buying" can be shortened to "B>" and "Selling" can be shortened to "S>".
- "Looking For" can be shortened to "LF>" and "Trading For" can be shortened to "TF>"/"T>".
- "NM>" and "DM>" are short for "Note Me" and "Direct Message Me", used to indicate that the player wants trade communication and offers through the Friends List Note System.
- "PC>" is short for Price Check, used to indicate that the player wants recommendations on the value of an item.
Quests
- Most quests in Mabinogi have rewards that include Gold. Part-Time Jobs and Hunting Quests are two such options.
- Part-Time Jobs consist of performing a certain task for an NPC.
- Some Part-Time Jobs give players a choice between rewards with more Gold or more experience.
- On the Uladh continent, Hunting Quests involve searching for Fomor Scrolls which are frequently dropped by most monsters upon death.
- These Fomor Scrolls are collected in stacks of 10 and can be turned in through quests to certain NPCs in every major region, from where the scroll was collected (Duncan for Tir Chonaill, Eavan for Dunbarton, Comgan for Bangor, etc.).
- The Fomor Scroll Quest Board by Poulnabrone can also facilitate this service for all Hunting Quests.
- Some Fomor Scroll stacks can be worth as high as 10,000 Gold or more. Rare and strong monsters naturally net higher profits from their scrolls, but they sometimes drop them less often as well.
Activities
Most other content the player can engage in will usually also reward some Gold. See their respective pages for more information.
- Mini-games
- Farming
- Premium Service or VIP Service is required to lease a field.
- Commerce
- The player will only acquire Gold in equal amounts to any profit in Ducats.
Trivia
- Players may acquire tiny sums of Gold by striking props such as signs, lamp posts, and other such obstacles.
- In Emain Macha's square the "Rich person" NPC walks around dropping small quantities of Gold.
- The Fomorians have used Gold for specific purposes other than currency.
- According to the book The Embodiment of Destruction, Glas Ghaibhleann, one use of Gold is to feed Glas Ghaibhleann, which is why all monsters always try to possess some.
- Another use would be to create an ancient creature, Tabhartas. The Gold would be used to stabilize its form.
