Description
The Unknown Men, later revealed as Cessair, are an unidentified, mysterious cult who seem to have connections with demons, and are the primary antagonists behind Iria: Episode 0 - Prequel: Shamala and Nightmare, The Saga: Iria, and The Saga: Iria II. Their goal is to eradicate the Gods and Milletians.
Black Mask assumes status of authority in the Cessair, who, unlike his brethren, wears white garments and an orange scarf rather than black garments and a red scarf. Cessair's Heart is also of the higher ranks of the organization, and is Black Mask's right hand. Dian is revealed to be the true leader of the Cessair, pulling strings from the shadows. They are also supported by the Black Dragon Knight, Bhafel, Languhiris, and the Commerce Bandit Fomors, and possibly the Goblin Trade Helper of Bangor, Digo.
Due to Black Mask's interference with the Soul Stream, the Cessair's magic, called "Red Eye" or "Eye of Death", can instantly disable and possess Milletians and then transform them into demonic-like creatures to use as the Cessair's puppets. Even the specific Milletian, who possesses the power of Demigod and wields the Brionac which contains the power of Aton Cimeni, is vulnerable to this. The Cessair use this not only to put the Milletian race under their control, but also to have all their allies turn against them. The only known counter to their magic is a special charm containing the powers of the divine that are in the hands of Courcle's shamans.

Neamhain's Memorial briefly mentions "Descendants of Cessair" who fought for Tir Na Nog.

Later, a Cessair reports that their enemies have completed the charm, nullifying their magic, but in return they have found The Holy Land of Shamans, and their enemies are now attempting to reclaim Hillwen Mine. Black Mask then has the Unknown Men, the Black Dragon Knight, and Bhafel mobilize.
Episode 5 - Proud Heritage: The Battle
The Elves and the Giants successfully reclaim Shyllien Nature Reserve and Hillwen Mine, respectively, but they notice how strange it was that there were too little forces defending the areas and how easily they were recaptured. Millia has the Milletian achieve her vengeance by marching straight for Zardine, where the Cessairs are stationed at.
Cessairs, Languhiris, and their goons attack the Milletian, Millia, and the elf and giant forces to the entrance of Zardine. Languhiris acknowledges the Milletian as a worthy opponent, but a Cessair questions the White Dragon, but Languhiris responds that the Cessairs have done as much as they pleased and now it is the White Dragon's turn to have fun before flying off.
Cessair's Heart later places a mole Royal Guard and a Great Scholar at Shyllien Nature Reserve to antagonize the Milletian, falsely claiming that one of the Reserves' documents he deciphered states that Milletians will rule Erinn while becoming monsters that destroy everything in their path. The other scholars immediately jump to various conclusions and then leave to report this.
A Cessair later then attacks The Holy Land of Shamans with Bhafel, but notices something familiar about Lelach.
Black Mask, the Black Dragon Knight, and their army of Unknown Men battle the Milletian and company at Zardine. Black Mask asks the Milletian to sacrifice themselves, stating that paradise will truly come if they do, but they refuse. Taking matters into his own hands, Black Mask and the Cessairs use their Red Eye magic to instantly subdue the Milletian to their knees and then transmogrify the other, charmless Milletians into demons to attack everyone.

Black Mask appears in Connous Oasis where Millia found Ruairi and finally unmasks himself, revealing to be Tarlach, concerned for his best friend. He realizes Millia is the medium to a goddess' manifestation and Ruairi considers using her for an offering.

She overhears the Cessair mention about Black Mask being the one from a prophecy that would free the Cessair; another mentions that anything after thousands of years of oppression would be an improvement. A few of the Cessair members are also wary of Shamala's presence as a rat, believing that there are always ears listening. The group eventually encounters the Cessair using a Hot-Air Balloon and follow suit. The Cessair tries to delay them with Enslaved Wyverns and Enslaved Alpha Wyverns, but they push on and shoot down their balloon. At nightfall, Treasure Hunter takes watch duty. He tells Pinky to disguise herself as Tarlach, reciting magic words from the Black Book of Bith to make the disguise seem real. Shortly afterwards the Cessair appears; he tells the Milletian and Merlin to make an escape raft while he holds them off briefly.
Before they board the raft, Treasure Hunter senses a trap but Merlin does not believe him. However, they are forced to raft with the Cessair in hot pursuit. However, upon reaching Cor, the booby trap activates and the raft explodes, knocking everyone unconscious and allowing the Cessair to freely take Tarlach and Pinky.
Following the Cessair to Metus on a horse chase, Merlin rushes forward and attempts to snag Tarlach. He succeeds, only to snag the disguised Pinky. Heading into Metus, the group are ambushed by Red Ruins Gargoyles, Enslaved Salamanders, and even an Arc Lich; once they clear up the enemies, they find that the Cessair and Tarlach have vanished. Treasure Hunter notes the altar is actually a portal. Eventually managing to open it, they end up in Muyu Desert, where a pyramid-like structure appears before them and they investigate it. Heading up the tower, Merlin tries to persuade the guards into letting them pass. However, they refuse to permit them entry and orders them to show their faces. They immediately recognize the intruders, using their Red Eye magic to knock the Milletian unconscious before being dispatched. Treasure Hunter uses something given to him by Akule to reawaken the Milletian. However, the door is locked and Treasure Hunter eventually figures out how to open it. Upon returning to the door, he sees Merlin napping and Treasure Hunter leaves him.
As a group of Cessair try and fail to find Treasure Hunter, Merlin is ambushed by another group and aids Cessair's Heart. They eventually succeed in capturing him, along with the unconscious Milletian.
Meanwhile, Treasure Hunter arrives in the Grave of Truth, a room consisting of ancient text. Using The Black Book of Bith to decipher the text, Treasure Hunter discovers the Cessair's origin. Their ancestors, the Settlers/Ban Clan, were cursed and banished by the Irinid for an unknown reason, cutting them off from the world and were rendered unable to eat, drink, or breathe as they faced a slow death. Trying to rid themselves of the curse, the clan used magic create a place they named Pincara. However, they could not sustain it and were forced to make sacrifices, a decision that no one agreed to and led to infighting. Eventually a man from the outside named Birren entered the barriers and married a woman of the clan named Bith. It was then Bith sacrificed herself to clone the half-blood members of the clan while Birren sacrificed himself to rid the curse of his children. The strong clones were powerful enough to leave Pincara, only to discover that the world had forgotten them. Dian, the true leader of the Cessair, was angered upon this discovery and sought revenge against both the Gods and those who had forgotten her and the clan. Sacrificing her emotions by placing them on a clone that would be Cessair's Heart, Dian schemed to rid the Gods, and upon realizing that the Gods have disappeared and thus breaking the curse on the Cessair, she began putting her plans into action.

She reveals that the Cessair were the conductor of Adniel long ago and created the "Moonlight of Death", the era that plunged the world into darkness. Her delay then allows Ruairi to summon a barrier that the group cannot penetrate. As Treasure Hunter disables the barrier, Cessair intercept, which are held off by the Milletian and Merlin. With the barrier down, Ruairi uses his power to mutate and empower the Cessair to allow the barrier to regenerate. This again proves futile when Merlin summons every ounce of his magic to delay the Cessair, teleport the Milletian into the altar before the barrier regenerates and flies into the sky, and teleports himself and Treasure Hunter out of Nemeton before it explodes due to the altar ascending to the sky.
