Overview

This is an addendum to Larsa's The Mabinogi Transformation Mastery Training Guide. It will basically explain the difficulty of finding the mobs, in addition to their locations, special notes to take, and wheather or not you really need them. Ratings are out of 13. Why 13? I'll leave you to think about it...

Disclaimers

I am simply expanding Larsa's work. All credits will go to Larsa since most of the info is from his guide. It is a very good guide. This is a simple guide to show the difficulty I had with the mobs, from both my current stats as is and my stats from WAY back in 09...which where quite all over the place come to think of it...

I should also note that ratings are based on my personal experience. People's opinions may vary from person to person. If you think it's easier/hard than the rating, then you and I are on two totally different planes of existence. The only difference being, I'm trying to be non-biased about all of this, and you people are forcing your opinions on me to change it. Ratings are also determined by "How would I face them on equal terms?" and not "I'M OVERPOWERED AND NOTHING CAN STOP ME!"

If I say you can skip the form, it's because of one of two reason; both of them are denoted in the Notes section at the bottom. You can also find some more notes if they do not have to be skipped due to either abundance or how easily the mob can be accessed. They are based on my personal opinion, and should not reflect if you should skip it or not. It is entirely up to you to skip them, or attempt to obtain them.

This seems to be a known issue with this guide for those following it.

 
 
I followed your guide, but I can't advance the skill! Are you sure I'm suppose to skip them?
 

 

I took into account that you have trained the "Transform" requirement on several occasions. Fully training the "Transform" will provide 20 training points towards the 100 required. The other 80 is collected through collecting the transformation. Of course, collecting it all will provide 100% training for the skill to advance.

Tir Chonaill - Graveyard ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Many White Spiders linger in the Graveyard near Duncan's House (Chief's House). As with the foxes, simply stick around and squish them. Those spiders have been slaughtered countlessly since 2008.

★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ The only problems you may run into is Skeletons. Rats spawn here quite often, and usually in large groups. Since you have three floors, there should be more than enough. If you do not want to venture into Rabbie Dungeon, you could alternatively go into Alby Dungeon.

Courcle - Cor Village ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ This is one of the mandatory collections for Generation 17. You can find many in Cor Village. Due to their immunity to damage, it might be best to use skills that can hit multiple times or continuously wail on them. Fortunately, they have low HP, but since 1-hit KOs aren't an option, it may take a while.

★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ This is getting a little difficult now. Don't get discouraged though! Wisps have a rather simple pattern and AI. However, since they are naturally bulky to new players at lower levels, it's pretty common for them to cause trouble.

Sidhe Sneachta ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Sidhe Sneachta has plent of Coyotes here. However, they do tend to multi-aggro a player, so caution is advised for those lower leveled.

Taillteann's Shadow Realm - Dorren's Request (Basic) ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ The first Shadow Realm creature in the diary. These guys are quite pesky, but are rather basic. Using the Shadow Mission "Dorren's Request," one can potentially spawn a infinite amount of these guys using the Light Blue Switch. You may spawn Shadow Lancers, Archers, and Warriors in the process while gathering this one for the books.

Commercing with low profitable goods ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Bandit Imps are rather quick on their feet and usually spam magic as often as they can. Since they are the weakest of the Bandit Quartet, it's quite easy to brush them off. Since they are often encountered when going back and forth while making little profit, you will often find a single one in at least one route.

Dugald Aisle - West of the Logging Camp ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Bears are rather strong, even for low leveled players. They are much more aggressive. Grizzly Bears will not count towards this one. To tell the difference without looking at their names, look at their eyes. If they are solid black, you got a bear. If they have some yellow or ominous eyes, it's a Grizzly Bear. They have an aggressive Counterattack, so be careful.

Physis - Vales Northern side, past the General Shop and Pub ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ You can find plenty of Physis Foxes inside Vales on the northern side. They shouldn't pose a threat at all, about the same difficulty as regular foxes.

Fiodh Dungeon - Intermediate Difficulty ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Wild Boars should not be confused with Plateau Wild Boars. These boars are found exclusively in Fiodh Intermediate. Since they are aggressive towards a single player, caution is advised when finding them in large numbers.

Barri Dungeon - Normal Difficulty or Spirit Fossil Pass ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Imps are aggressive with their Lightning Bolt and will tend to pre-charge it in an attempt to psyche you out. Since they are mostly found in Barri, prepare for a long trek underground, as there are many vast tunnels and turns inside. They usually spawn in small groups, so keep your eyes out.

Fiodh Dungeon - Normal Difficulty
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ One of the more aggressive monsters. These wield Butcher Knives. They tend to tear new players a new one with their strong blows. Caution is advised when alone with a room full of them. They also have a tendency to circle around a player, intimidating them. They are very common in Barri Basic, in wheres the green variety appear in Fiodh, usually near the end.

Since you may encounter multiple Bandits, it may become increasingly difficult since you are doing half damage from commercing, as well as getting aggroed in pairs. Of the Bandit Quartet, Goblins are somewhat annoying, especially since some do spawn with a Bow and Arrow.

Par Ruins - Normal Difficulty ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ After battling many mobs at this point, this one is surprisingly easy. Go to Par Dungeon in Physis, somewhat northeast to Vales, and offer anything to gain entry into the Dungeon. Wicked Penguins spawn in large numbers at times and are generally weak.

Rabbie Dungeon - Normal Difficulty ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Skeletons are often found in Rabbie. They are generally easy, but can become a hassle as you progress further inside Rabbie Dungeon. They will eventually wield Bow and Arrows. Treat them as you would a Kolbold and things should be smooth.

Rano - A bit north/northwest of Port Qilla ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ There's usually a ton of Aardvarks outside of Port Qilla. You should have no trouble handling these large animals.

Albey Dungeon - Any Gem/Black Orb
Ciar Dungeon - Basic Difficulty
★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ These guys have a mentality of tricking players often. They will load Smash, but cancel shortly after. These will also be the first time you will experience a monster with Windmill in most cases. Rat Men are generally predictable after some experience. I would recommend going to Albey, since less pass hunting is required. While in Albey, you may have a shot at Ciar Basic Pass from Sickle Laghodessas.

★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Your first Elemental in the Transformation Diary. They often pre-charge their Lightning Bolt, and will do some major magical damage to you. Their attacks are also elemental. Fortunately there's only one lingering around so you can pace yourself. Be cautious of the other two sprites located here. To speed up the process, you may go to Coill Dungeon, located in the northeastern corner of Emain Macha.

Personally, my favorite Transformation thus far. Be wary of magic use when fighting Flying Swords. They are capable of recovering and growing twice their size when struck with magical bolts. They are fairly easy but can become difficulty as right off the bat, they charge their Lightning Bolt then strike you shortly after. For an alternative, go to Fomor Attack on Basic Difficulty. The ones in Fomor Attack considerably much weaker than the average Flying Sword.

Dunbarton - Southwest forestry area ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ They are much more aggressive than normal bears. Regular Bears will not count towards this one. To tell the difference without looking at their names, look at their eyes. If they are solid black, you got a bear. If they have some yellow or ominous eyes, it's a Grizzly Bear. Like normal Bears, they have an aggressive Counterattack. Some have been know to multi-aggro as well, so keep an eye out when in close-quarters combat.

Fiodh Dungeon - Normal Difficulty ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Essentially a beefed up Wolf. Some have been known to multi-aggro. Since the spawn in large numbers, it should be easy to gather this one within a few rooms of Fiodh.

Physis - White Dragon Raid ★★★★★★★★★★☆☆☆ Well...that escalated quickly. These mobs are relentless and is hard to hit as well. Unless you are some sniper with a pair of guns, or able to hit them miles away with a Bow and Arrow, you won't be getting this one easily. They usually spawn in close proximity to each other, making it hard to single them out. Furthermore, they multi-aggro, making it much harder to even kill one while others are on your tail. Since they can only be hit in the air, or when attacking another player on the ground, you're better off either skipping this one, or finding help to gather finishes.

These beasts, for whatever reason, seem to act like oversized gremlins at times, circling around a bit. They are quite fast on their feet (literally) and can overwhelm you when against large numbers.

Taillteann's Shadow Realm - Defeat the Shadow Wizard (Basic) ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ The Shadow Realm counterpart of Gremlins. Treat them as you would Gremlins, and you should be fine. However, keep an eye out on their magic.

Rundal Dungeon - Siren Pass ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ This strange fish is only found in Rundal Siren. You will want to be careful of these freaky fish. Treat them like you would Goblins. They do tend to jump around a lot as well, which can be distracting.
Due to the nature of Siren Passes, this may take some time to come across. They sometimes spawn with Sahagin Rangers, so you might be in a heap of trouble considering this is a solo dungeon. If you do attempt to pursue this creature, be prepared for everything Rundal Siren throws at you.

Tir Na Nog - Graveyard ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Everyone's favorite creature...Zombies. Fortunately, they are really really sloooow. Take this to your advantage. Use Windmill to keep them away from you and you should be fine. Carelessness can lead to your downfall, and getting kill by this slow monster does not turn you into a zombie, but you should be ashamed for getting killed by one of the slowest creatures in the game. Zombies are a bit tanky, with their Heavy Stander and all, so new players will struggle a little.

Taillteann's Shadow Realm - Dorren's Request (Basic) ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Using the Red Switch in "Dorren's Request", you can potentially spawn an infinite amount. They spawn alongside Shadow Alchemists. Shadow Wizard (F) are aggressive with their magic, potentially one shotting you if you let them charge their Firebolt. They also multi-aggro, which is troublesome if they continuously knock you back with their bolts.

They will almost instantaneously aggro in most cases, and they tend to land critical hits quite often. While weak as they are, their damage can overwhelm you.

Err...these guys tend to do sequential aggro: One dies, the next one watching you aggros. While not difficult, the ones watching your every move load Defense often. Hitting them in that state will cause them to aggro you.

Like Zombies, they are a bit tanky with their Heavy Stander, but weaker. They can overwhelm you like normal Zombies. Just steer clear of their attack range and your good to go.

I would not go there unless you either lag in the Shadow Realm, or looking for a challenge. The ones in the Shadow Missions "The Other Alchemists" and "Dorren's Request" can come in larger numbers, allowing for a better chance. I would advise those going to "Dorren's Request" hit the Blue Switch to spawn an infinite number of them. Meanwhile, the ones in "The Other Alchemists" come in a variety, some stronger than others.

While this drops the rating by 1, fighting them in groups is highly discouraged. They hardly ever spawn alone and they have a tendency to attack in groups. Luckily you can fight a controlled number in The Saga: Iria, Episode 3 specifically.

This is the "safest" way to deal with the Ogre; 1v1, no holds bar...well there's still the matter of the Snowfield Slayers. Try not to kill them in the process of killing the Ogre.

Funny story: If you notice the colors and they way they look, they sorta resemble Power Rangers, or Super Sentai if you're more familiar with Japanese hero dramas. You might even say they resemble Kamen Riders.

I would advise prepare for a long and drawn out hunt for this bandit, as he is much harder to find.
Despite its unusually high collection rate, It's harder to find it than collect it after defeat.

I would advise preparing for a drawn out battle, as they are much more tanky than the Sea Trolls that inhabit the oceanside of Scathach. Bringing friends may help beat it down.

The easiest way to get this one is Alby Intermediate for 2. To obtain the pass, hunt some Werewolves in Fiodh. Fiodh also has a couple Gorgons here and there, but you might be better off running Alby with multiple passes. There is a fairly large number in Alby.

Do to the sheer rarity of a Dull Weeding Hoe, skip and move on. Rated 13 due to the process you have to go through just to even get to this dungeon...not time consuming as some things here, but just rather annoying. Honestly, it's not hard at all. The difficulty, this time, is method of obtaining it. You may even have to result in obtaining the pet with the Dull Weeding Hoe.
Another risky method is running Coill Abyss. The mobs are equivalent to Hardmode Monsters, some maybe borderline Elite. Sarracenias seem to be rather common, with the Boss of Coill Abyss being able to summon more. The only issue is multi-aggro with other monsters and keeping things under control.

Usually spawns with Stone Horses, but if doing the Pot-Belly Spider Venom Sac, be prepared to fight it with 2 Stone Horses, which isn't as bad as Karu Normal's 5. You may even want to try the Glowing Imp Statue, but considering how out of reach it can be, it may be best to use Venom Sacs.

Par Ruins - Snow Crystal ★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Now it's getting serious. First off, you need a Snow Crystal, something that is out of reach by many...or people are just lazy to farm Par Normal. Secondly, a Giant is required. This is one of the few monsters that requires specific conditions for it to appear. Lastly, the monster that spawns before it, the Wendigo, must be killed with a specific weapon, the Ice Pole. For the Ice Pole to drop, the Wendigo must stomp. Afterwards, icicles from the ceiling fall and there your Ice Pole. Using a Giant and equipping the Ice Pole, destroy the Wendigo, and the elusive Mirror Witch of Frost will appear before you, taking revenge for her pet and will attempt to kill you. You will only get 1 shot per run, considering you kill the Wendigo with the Ice Pole every time.

Belvast - Beach of Scathach, Outside the camp ★★★★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ There is much tension in the air...the thick air of Scathach suffocates you as you attempt to kill these abnormally strong wolves. As long as you can keep it away, you will be safe. Just beware that it will take some time, and they can multi-aggro. Single them out and you will survive...otherwise the men from the camp just drag you back inside.

I would advise bringing a party for this dungeon, as things here tend to get messy. Luckily, they have no resistance to ranged attacks, so bust out the arrows and bullets and shoot some holes.

They spawn in groups of 5 in almost every iteration of Barri Normal and altered difficulties that is not Basic or Advanced. The only issue is how close they may spawn, and there is always a strong one among them. Their hammers also have splash damage, so be advised when fighting along side teammates.
