Beta Testing

Before Closed Beta

December 19, 2007

• Nexon America released its teaser site, featuring a small teaser Mabinogi video.

January 4, 2008

• Nexon uploaded the first episode of Lorna and Pan which explained the game to players.

Closed Beta

January 4?, 2008

• Nexon opened the registration to the Closed Beta.

January 25, 2008

• Nexon closes the Closed Beta registration process.
• Nexon notified all registered accounts that the Closed Beta would start on January 29, 2008 and gave out download links to the Closed Beta client.

January 29, 2008

• The Closed Beta started with a server called Nao.

February 5, 2008

• The Closed Beta ended; all characters were deleted.

Pre-Open Beta

February 6, 2008

• A day after the end of the Closed Beta Nexon posted that the Pre-Open Beta was to be launched on February 23rd, 2008; any person would be eligible.

February 22, 2008

• Players noticed that the patch server had started working, and their Closed Beta clients updated to version 6, this was the first patch recorded by players for Mabinogi.

February 23, 2008

• Pre-Open Beta was launched and servers were opened again under a single server called Nao.

February 25, 2008

• The servers were shutdown and Pre-Open Beta ended.
• Nexon announced to players that Open Beta would launch on March 5, 2008.

Open Beta

March 5, 2008

• The patch server was launched again and people updated their clients; the servers of the Open Beta were opened with the servers named Mari, Tarlach, and Ruairi.

March 26, 2008

• Servers were shutdown and the Open Beta ended; all characters were left untouched.

Generation 1

Generation 1 Season 1 Update

Update Promotion - Generation 1 Season 1 Update - March 27, 2008

• Game Updates
  • The Generation 1 Mainstream Quests have been implemented.
    • Must be a subscriber of one of 4 Premium Services in order to receive Mainstream Quests.
  • The 'Premium Shop' button has been added in the game menu.
  • Guild functions have been implemented (Accessible through friends list).
    • Guild leaders have to be a subscriber of either Fantasy Life Club or Extra Storage service in order to manage the guild.
  • The 'Rebirth' button has been added (Accessible from character selection screen).
    • Either a Basic Character Card or a Premium Character Card is required to use the Rebirth function.
  • The 'Buy Card' button has been added (Accessible from character selection screen).
• New Dungeons
  • Alby Dungeon for party of 1, 2, and 4 have been implemented.
  • Ciar Dungeon for party of 1, 2, and 4 have been implemented.
  • Fiodh Dungeon for party of 1, 2, and 4 have been implemented.
• New Skills
  • Support Shot can now be learned.
    • Support Shot is learned by talking to Trefor about skills after obtaining the Ranged Attack skill.
  • Fishing can now be learned.
    • Fishing is learned by equipping a Fishing Rod and a Bait Tin.
• New Titles can be obtained.
• New Items
  • Item Bag (7x5) has been added.
    • Available at Malcolm (Tir Chonaill), Walter (Dunbarton), and Gilmore (Bangor).
    • Must be a subscriber of either Fantasy Life Club or Extra Storage service in order to use the Item Bag.
  • Merchant Licenses have been added.
    • Available at Bebhinn (Tir Chonaill), Austeyn (Dunbarton), and Bryce (Bangor).
    • Must be a subscriber of either Fantasy Life Club or Extra Storage service in order to use the Merchant License.
  • Big Gold Pouch has been added.
    • The Big Gold Pouch can hold up to 50,000 Gold.
  • Skill Books have been added.
    • New books that can be purchased by NPCs can now help practice certain skills.
  • New Armors and Weapons are now available.
    • Kite Shield : Available at Nerys (Dunbarton) and Elen (Bangor).
    • Crossbow : Available at Nerys (Dunbarton).
    • Claymore : Available at Elen (Bangor).

• Web Updates
  • The Premium Shop is now accessible on the Mabinogi website.
    • 4 types of Premium Services are available from the Premium Shop.

      • Advanced Play Service
    • 2 types of Character Cards are now available from the Premium Shop.

Generation 1 Season 2 Update

Generation 1 Season 2 Update - May 1, 2008

• New Functions
  • The Mabinogi Item Shop has been implemented.
    • The Item Shop is accessible by clicking on the shop button at the bottom of the game screen.

• New Items
  • Item Bag (7x6) has been added.
    • It can be purchased from General Shops in most towns.
    • Must be a subscriber of either Fantasy Life Club or Extra Storage service in order to use the Item Bag.

• New Premium Character Styles
  • 3 Male Hairstyles
  • 3 Female Hairstyles

• Bug Fixes
  • Disconnection bug using font size script has been fixed.
  • More translation script has been added to Magic Mastery's skill description.
  • Other minor bugs have been fixed.

Generation 2

Generation 2 Season 1 Update

Update Promotion - Generation 2 Season 1 Update - May 15, 2008

• New Functions
  • The Generation 2 Mainstream Quests have been implemented.
    • You must be a subscriber of one of 4 Premium Services in order to receive Mainstream Quests.
  • You have option to skip Generation 1 Mainstream Quests by talking to the Weird Cat NPC in the house behind Duncan.

• New Maps
  • The town of Emain Macha has been added.
    • Emain Macha North and South Seal Seals are breakable.
    • Osna Sail and Sen Mag Prairie have been added.
  • The island of Ceo Island has been added.

• New NPCs
  • More than 20 NPCs, including Price, have been added all throughout Erinn.

• New Dungeons
  • Math Dungeon has been implemented (Up to Advanced).
  • Rundal Dungeon has been implemented (Up to Advanced).
  • Coill Dungeon has been implemented.

• New Skills
  • Spirit of Order skill can now be learned after finishing the Generation 2 Mainstream Quests. This will allow the user to transform into a Paladin.
  • Fireball skill can now be learned after the collection of the 10 Fireball Pages.
    • To start this quest, you must have 'the Elemental Apprentice' title. Talk to Stewart about skills and collect all 10 Fireball pages. You must not have a Lightning Wand, Ice Wand, or Combat Wand equipped.
  • Arrow Revolver can now be learned after the collection of the 10 Arrow Revolver Pages.
    • To start this quest, you must have 'the Fire Arrow' title. Talk to Aranwen about Skills and collect all 10 Arrow Revolver pages.

Generation 2 Season 3 Update

Update Promotion - Generation 2 Season 3 Update - June 25, 2008

• New Functions
  • Dunbarton's Library is now open.
    • Scary Library Dungeon is also available with the special pass from Stewart`s shop.
      • Scary Library can only be entered from 12:00AM to 1:00AM Erinn Time.

• New NPCs
  • Fleta and her dog, Rab, has been added.
    • Fleta is a traveling merchant like Price, but she will stay in Sen Mag Plateau and travel throughout Sen Mag Plateau.
  • A mini-story quest for Aeira in Dunbarton has been added.

• New Dungeons
  • Siren has been added to Rundal Dungeon.

• New Skills
  • Thunder can now be learned.
    • To start the quest, you must talk to Stewart while equipped with a Lightning Wand after having first learned Lightning Bolt. The quest requires you to complete a collection book consisting of 5 Thunder pages.

• New Items
  • Light and Regular Hetero Kite Shields and their Blacksmith Manuals have been implemented.

• New Premium Character Styles
  • 5 Eye colors
  • 5 Hair colors

• New Character Cards
  • Summer Character Card is available for a limited time only in the Premium Shop.
    • Summer Character Card is exactly the same as Premium Character Card except that Summer Character Card gives you special Summer Newbie Wears as your character`s default clothes.

• New Pets
  • The following Pets are now available in the Premium Shop.

  • Generation 3 Mainstream Quests have been implemented.
    • Baol Dungeon has been implemented.
  • Marriage System has been implemented.
    • Players may get married in Emain Macha.
  • Upgraded Pet System and Pet AI System has been implemented.
  • "Use Sound FX for Footsteps" option has been added into the Sound Options.
  • New Skill Shortcut Slots have been added.
    • Holding the Shift button will temporarily change the shortcut slot set to the opposite set.
      • Holding the Shift button and pressing Tab will permanently change the shortcut slot set to the opposite set.
        • Pet skills may be added into the shortcut skill slots.

• New Maps
  • Two new Seal Stones have been added.
    • One in Dugald Aisle near where the wisp quest is located.
    • One near the Rabbie Dungeon Moongate.

• New Skills
  • Combat-related skill caps have been removed.
    • Master Titles are obtained after training the skill to Rank 1 and completing the skill training requirements.

• New Premium Character Styles
  • Several new hairs styles for Premium Characters have been added.

• New Pets
  • The following Pets are now available in the Premium Shop.
