Talk:Meditation
How does Meditation interact with Eweca? Like, if I have rank F meditation, I'll regen 4.5 mp/min in the daytime. Will I regen 13.5 mp/min in the nighttime, or will I regen 10.5 mp/min? And what exactly does it mean by 150%? Is that +150%, or +50%?Ziv 14:27, 4 April 2008 (PDT)
Sorry for you to receive an answer so late but:
- Your mana recovery rate is +50% with meditation and no eweca.
- If Eweca has risen, your normal mana regeneration rate is tripled.
- Normal-(3 MP/Min) X 3 X 1.5 = 14.5 MP/Min
Lycanthrope drops 'Mana' Boots which states a +10 intelligence and -15 strength stat alteration for having Rank A+ Meditation. However nothing beyond rank B meditation has been recorded in this article. Is this article incomplete? --Chizuru 09:17, 9 June 2008 (PDT)
- Nope Nothing is missing. Rank A Meditation is even listed on the Japanese wiki as Not Yet Implemented. Rank A meditation comes out in G8S4. Ziv 09:53, 9 June 2008 (PDT)

Status Effects
I have yet to confirm this one, but I think that if you are hungry and use meditation, it drains your stamina to whatever point your hunger level is at. --Fracture--
Not True. If you have full stamina, 50% funger, and activate Meditate, you'll still have full stamina. It simply wont recover when you use it though. Sogard6 02:41, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually its happened to me to when i use rest, more often now that i ranked it. i don't think meditation stops stam from recovering but instead makes you lose it at the exact same rate its meant to be recovering. since rest boots you recovery rate it could be increasing the amount you lose from meditation to. i don't think stam past yuor hunger point is effect by rest the same way. I'm not sure how it really works, but i know for a fact I've had my stam drain down to my hunger level while i was resting with meditation on.--(not-so)Anonymous 18:57, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
If you activate meditation while resting, you will lose stamina. If you activate it THEN use rest you will be fine
I have also noticed this happening, although it might also be like whoever above said it. --Marthian 03:22, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Was this changed in an update or something and should the wiki pages be changed? Or is it just me...? Wouldn't want people going through the special shop quest to get it if they don't need to. *is new to the whole wiki thing*
Yes, it's now in Aeira's normal shop; it was changed about a month ago, and is specifically mentioned in Nexon's patch notes (though sometimes these notes aren't always trustworthy and have been botched a few times, though it wouldn't hurt to double/triple check). I have tried to inform others about this but no one's taken the initiative.
The wiki's not yet fully updated to match with all the recent Renovation tweaks, so don't be surprised if you find anything out of the ordinary. That said, don't be afraid to report it.

"Effective Meditation" is available in Aeira's regular shop for 6,190 gold after receiving a shop ticket from Fleta through the quest Fleta's Chore. It cannot be traded or mailed.
No idea if in-game still says "secret shop", but if it is, its wrong.
Likewise, Aeira's, Stewart's, and Secret Shop pages need to be modified as well.

- First row of value are averages.
- Tests on a blessed shitty Fierce combat wand w/ no upgrades.
- Rank 1 Healing/Icebolt, R8 Meditation
- On "Fruit" and "Water" mobs inside Kitchen Dungeon.
Because not enough fucks are given (and because I was lagging for god knows why), the data sample is small, but, imo, enough.
Until someone can provide concrete contradictory evidence, meditation does not consume extra durability.
Okay, so there's a lot of controversy about this here, and there's claims that Meditation has no effect on Durability.
What should we do? Who even put that there in the first place anyway?
Just tested this, very briefly. I had two 0 durability ice wands and repaired 1 point on each. For one I had no meditation on and for the other i had meditation on and they both ran out of durability at roughly the same time, about 92ish heals. It was a really brief test and I didn't really count the amount of heals properly, though I'm satisfied that meditation probably doesn't increase durability use
Lets ask Mabi on their next Q&A.
It was a bug that existed for a verrrrrryyyyy long time and existed in all world wide server. It was fixed after meditation revamp.
bug that existed ever since meditation existed. It was never labeled, but many people felt it was eating dura and someone did research and showed that meditation increase meditation spending (but those time, MP Potion costed more than dura spent by meditation)
Plus, on the meditation revamp patch note in KR, it say "Fixed the bug when meditation caused durability of wand to go down faster sometimes"
Hasn't Meditation been out since the dawn of time? Its been... 17 gens already which is like so many years and by then they fix it?!
Well, they still didn't fix Flame Burst-Ice Spear bug which is can possibly cause whole party to die.
I'm hate to bring this back up but...using some "unmentionables" It does increase dura loss.
I think it's not notible though...probably a 110% increase? but with prem service and all, not sure. wish they didn't extend it
I'll just leave this here, but neh, I still say it can't be calculated on additional loss.
Durability loss with 5 heal charges: 5.725 - 5.664 = .061
Durability loss with 5 heal charges on meditation: 5.664 - 5.573 = .091
Ehh...I'd have to take into account the natural durability loss when the tick happens. That's with extended usage.
Anyways here you go (done with one bolt of lighting):
- Medi off: 5.567 - 5.561 = .006
- Medi On: 5.561 - 5.552 = .009
Does every bolt use the same amount of durability? iirc, each normal attack uses a randomized amount of durability. I'd be surprised if it was different for bolts. o_O
why would it...*goes to test* my wand is unblessed during all of this testing...
Here you go. It is slightly different on a single charge.
Ice bolt (1 charge):
- Medi off: 5.524 - 5.519 = .005
- Medi On: 5.519 - 5.510 = .009
Firebolt (1 charge)
- Medi off: 5.510 - 5.501 = .009
- Medi on: 5.501 - 5.490 = .011
I'd say from all of this it's an approximate 120% increase or so...not something ludicrous as that 1.75x we had on the wiki at one point. But VIP dura loss is in effect so...it could be more or less.
So basically the glitch came back? >.>
(or it was never a glitch, eh, eh?)
(or maybe removing it, if it was ever [i doubt], was the glitch)
I'm just glad I could even test the stupid myth...I got into this argument on some idiots in-game, claiming the wiki is always right.
Umm I'm going to bring this issue up at the mabinogi nexon forums since they are actually keep a log of bugs and such and we'll see what happens from there...dat Tasket.
Umm well it appears my thread got moved from "Bug & Glitches" to "Help." It appears that it was intended and, therefore, was part of the game the whole time. Well then, anyone want to put this back on the page?
They just...moved the thread, no explanation. Not to mention there's no record of meditation not burning durability faster...
Nope. They stated it is working as intended.
I'll come back with findings after I do event...now that VIP is gone. Strange Findings is strange...probably cause of the variable Durability lost. So it might be more consistent if I had shot more than 1 charge...
Healing (5 charges):
- Medi Off: 8.651 -> 8.598 (0.053)
- Medi On: 8.598 -> 8.505 (0.093)
Bolts (all 1 charge):
- Firebolt Medi Off: 8.477 - > 8.468 (0.009)
- Firebolt Medi On: 8.468 - > 8.456 (0.012)
- Icebolt Medi Off: 8.418 - > 8.405 (0.013)
- Icebolt Medi On: 8.405 - > 8.392 (0.013) ...strange...
- Lightning Bolt Medi Off: 8.392 - > 8.382 (.010)
- Lightning Bolt Medi On: 8.382 - > 8.373 (.009) also strange...
Have you attempted this with different wands/staves? Maybe the weapon is also a variable for the decay rate. And can you possibly check with Thunder?
...Doubtful It's about the same amount of loss with any other wand. I have yet to try staves. And what about thunder?
Your numbers seem to suggest meditation increases dur loss from every tick, increases dur loss from firebolt, doesn't change dur loss of icebolt, and actually decreases dur loss of lightning bolt. How does thunder stand?
That's after casting and shooting the bolt, not leaving the bolt sit idly by. For heal, that's casted by hand, and then switched to wand to usage. Thunder seems to tick for each cast launched. I'll look at it again.
If you scroll up to my older tests, you can see that Icebolt increased Dura lost on use. I'm going to try again with 5 Charges for a much more significant difference.
My results on Bolts (5 charges):
- Firebolt Medi Off: 9.290 - > 9.235 (0.055)
- Firebolt Medi On: 9.125 - > 9.062 (0.063)
- Icebolt Medi Off: 9.062 - > 9.003 (0.059)
- Icebolt Medi On: 8.949 - > 8.889 (.06) That's really strange...I'm guess it has to do with the variable loss o.e
- Lightning Bolt Medi Off: 8.889 - > 8.823 (.066)
- Lightning Bolt Medi On: 8.823 - > 8.748 (.075)
Icebolt has some really consistent losses...It doesn't seem to change as much... It should be noted all of this was done with a Trinity Staff. I'll grab my combat wand and check the losses...
A few Icebolt Tests (5 Charges):
- Medi Off: 4.619 > 4.566 (.053) > 4.516 (.05) > 4.460 (.056) > 4.387 (.073) That last one is really really odd...
- Medi On: 4.387 > 4.331 (.056) > 4.276 (.055) > 4.226 (.05) > 4.170 (.056)
Yeah that is really consistent...except for that last one with meditation off. Each number for this test represents 5 ice bolt charges shot at once, switch weapons in-between numbers to prevent the 5 minute tick from taking more dura away.
Isn't it supposed to be capped at 9 right now? o-o
Does the Hint of Magic music scroll stack or multiply the effects of regeneration with mediation on? Ex: 100% (no eweca) x 210% (r9 medi) + 1600% (r1 playing) = 1810%, or 100% (no eweca) x 210% (r9 medi) x 1600% (r1 playing) = 3360%. If it multiplies, does this mean after G15S2 and r1 Meditation are uncapped that mages will be (even more) OP (especially when considering Mana Shield)? Ex: 300% (eweca) x 1500% (r1 medi) x 1600% (r1 playing) = 72000% (Infinite MP = No deaths)
How was it readjusted? I'm curious.
Holy cow 870%...? mages gonna like that...shame about half the mages (maybe more) hate meditation...
