sorting
D= this looks highly interesting! May I recommend also another sorting based on skill tabs? As it seems that specific skills invoke the status? -- ladywinter ~{talk | contribs}~ 15:58, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Maybe Final Smash, Full Swing, Chain Gun and Bard of Fury will be available?

The Job Sytem
When I logged on to KR test today (7/24/2010) all the new skills were restricted and disabled as well as several of the new weapons. Most of them had messages showing that they were class restricted and my character screen had a new subject on it which said my job was adventurer(?). The patch seems to have been botched as there is no way to chose or change your class. Restricted skills have red text above their names when hovered over stating their limitation and their training bars greyed out. They cannot be advanced and their stat based benefits are nullified. I assume this is how the job system will work. I would really hope not since mages got a massive nerf in the G13 patch as of july 16 2010 with the adv magic damae being cut by 20%, blaze being throttled to nearly 60% of its power, and elemental masteries being limited to Wizard class (simply meaning to recover the lost power you HAVE to become a wizard and forfeit your melee skills). On the brighter side, int bonus for mages was changed to a % bonus along the lines of 1 + INT/2000. I.e. 400 int would grant you 1.2x magic damage (though to recover the damage lost from the nerfing you'd need closer to 600 int). R.I.P. Mages ;-; Tellos 06:52, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- I rebirthed my character to wizard. The shocking stuff was that my character's magic mastery was B with current 4, but had 170 mana. Also, it had fairly high int at start. By testing, my single hailstorm (rD) did 300 damage (not sure if it was critical or not but i had critical rF). Before the job patch, however, i did pathetic damage with hailstorm. So i won't say that mage would be dead unless you are not wizard. Also, the skill you trained remain after you switch job, so i think the job system is to stop pros abusing their power (such as using adv magic until their mana is out and then switching to melee and spam smash/windmill)
Fallenone 00:26, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I got the job system to work, and since its test I doubt you're running high dungeons and stuff. But mages are severly disadvantaged by this patch, and any disabled skills don't contribute anything to your stat pool now. You probably did that much cuz your opponent had fire alignment or you stacked the crystal so it did more damage. Tellos 02:19, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, you are right. It seems that i did 2 charge critical to do 300 damage. My target was white spider always though. I tried Fiodh Intermidiate again and wizard is a fail, even with hailstorm.Fallenone 19:09, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

- I feel that DevCat is panicked a bit and just put on a quick fix band aid to quiet down the users. Hopefully, they will realize what they have done, and slowly hammer it into a more game balancing point of view. As much as these classes make players more OP, if you spend AP to rank it and all other skills and you're 3k+ total level, you're suppose to be OP. xD --Miyuna 02:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
What is this? according to this graph, wizards are actually increased, espcially fireball! http://mabinogi.gameabout.com/bbs/view.ga?id=68&row_no=6209&page=1 Fallenone 22:26, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, G13 see's mages actualy buffed (including blaze with combat wand). The new int forumla compounds with the new masteries while the mp costs are reduced. If a mage has 600 int and Rank 1 of a mastery then they would recive 1.3*1.15 damage or 1.495x damage. Before the mastery and Int magic nerf it would have been 1.56*3000 or 4680 damage (which is insane even for fireball) under the new system its 1.495*2400 or 3588 damage (which is a nice increase). Trinity staff also allows such a mage to use 400+ damage lightning bolts for 4 mp a shot.

reference table
can someone translate the image linked to at the bottom of the page? -- ladywinter ~{talk | contribs}~ 21:27, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- I was going to translate the table and make the page as I have been doing with most of the g13 pages, however DevCat is tuning the job system and that list was created from the current game files. I think we should wait untill KR DevCat makes the final job skill/benefit list before we go making this page. Otherwise we'll have to redo it every week. Tellos 21:40, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Calm down. Nexon KR just updated their homepage. Apparently there will be no class restrictions.---Kaeporo 04:01, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

I would chose it on my human to confirm (Giant is Knight, Elf is Wizard) but I can't rebirth him till later. Also it appears that if you take a job, you can't advance skills not related to that job, though you can train them normaly. This feature is bugged atm as only freelancers can rank demigod skills. - Considering that Transform and Demigod can't be trained by anyone, I'd assume they set a parameter Restricted as the default, and forgot about several skills in the proccess of quieting the fire storm. Also job change is supposed to be part of free rebirth. Tellos 20:09, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah but I am sure no one want to wait at least 3 weeks to train other stuff ^^;; dont mind this Fallenone 20:20, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

New Name
I don't think we should call this section "jobs" since C4 director said:
Skipping first part, he said that he chose word 장래희망 (somebody help me because only translation i can think of is dream, future dream, wanna-be, want-to-be) rather than word job because jobs are too heavy term and he want light term which can be changed everytime you rebirth. Fallenone 22:53, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- rough translation from google translator : Munseongjun director, "wanted to do for the future is through a system of degrees of freedom, rather than harm as opposed to increasing degrees of freedom. Could pursue diversity as a variety of views and will have developed." He said, the tenor of the introduction. In addition, "understanding the user's play pattern, with some skills that have provided data-driven options. Occupation is not a heavy concept, through reincarnation system consists of a light had to change." He explains.
it seems to say occupation which is technically jobs or classes :\ --ACE1337 01:57, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- We'll rename it to whatever they call it in north america when the time comes. We did the same thing with alchemy. Tellos 23:32, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
- I believe the correct term is "career", as in "he as a future"; a progression or advancement through life.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 02:05, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- I propose we move this page to have the title "Aspirations"- it seems the most fitting based upon the director's description, not to mention the fact that it fits the concept of a "future dream" very well. IHarryl 11:38, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- Let's see, the whole reason for the article name "Jobs" is because that's what they were labeled in the client files. This is pretty procedural for most future content, until they are renamed by Nexon America.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 07:04, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
This Chart
Would this be helpful in any way? --kaede-kit 00:26, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, I made that before when I was mistaken on some parts of how this worked; For now it only shows, from the skillinfo.xml, what classes are able to rank what. (Possibly explaining the current glitch of Adventurers unable to rank any skills.) --Duet 00:32, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Going from that list, and what's been noted here on the wiki so far, I have to ask: do Giant-Only combat skills not get Double Training as a Knight, or at all? Things like, Wind Guard, Stomp, Taunt, and other things like Evasion and whatnot? --Rusty 01:52, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Giant only skills and evasion do not receive bonus training, windmill and final hit are unconfimred. Tellos 02:18, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- Confirmed that Windmill receives the bonus, and that ALL magic skills (including enchant) receive the bonus as well. As of the last patch it is confirmed that job choice has no impact on the effectivness of skills, which skills the user may advance, and which skills the user may train. Now I just need to rebirth a character tommorow to switch jobs to confirm that works after the patch. Tellos 18:10, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Bard?
Isn't there a Bard job? --κєνıи (»тαıĸ«) 04:17, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Nope. The new class system lifted several restrictions, killed bard/merchant, added archer and changed adventure to "no job"...which is the default class when creating a new character. Several bard-related items and skills (battle mandolin/lure of the ballad) exist in the Korean server and can be utilized by any player.---Kaeporo 05:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Jobs are nothing like the classes. As far as I know there is no "Life Skill" class. the Archer job is basicaly what the bard job was and give you .5 more dex than normal per level (humans and elves can get 1.25 dex per level with it) and gives you x2 training to range based skills. This is a godsend for support shot which is extremely hard to train. Every job is a freelancer job, all jobs do in the end is give you more stats per level and turbo training. Tellos 11:28, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Free Rebirth??
This is my first thing Ive done on the wiki so sorry for any mistakes.
Will you be able to do this when doing a free rebirth(rebirth without character card at age 20+)??
- I'm able to do it on the Korean Test Server. However you can also rebirth each week for free on the korean test server, so I can't answer that for you. Tellos 21:57, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. It can. --Juff 16:48, 29 November 2010 (PST)

Shouldn't we keep them? O-o
I don't really see why, the old icons were never even seen in-game. If we kept everything that was never ingame... We'd have to upload a lot more than we preserve.
Because there's still hope that they'll eventually come out. But the old destiny icons were replaced twice and now even the destiny system is replace.
If they implemented the Lugh Persona but never released him prior to G16's end, then I seriously doubt they'll add it.
So, I was playing some of the bard songs earlier, and I discovered that when playing using the bard skills, you will gain experience from playing. Should I edit this into the bard section? It doesn't say how much, but I gain ROUGHLY 3% per skill at level 2.
--Furby4537568 04:27, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Did some further testing and discovered something interesting: The percentages for each play decrease as you get closer to leveling up. Can someone take a look into the exact amount?--Furby4537568 04:56, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I see Kevin. I'm tempted to test with my other skills now too o.o I honestly find this interesting, because I've never seen or noticed it before.
Some of you might already know but..
While I was surfing around the Internet I found out that there will be a new Destiny (or rather a Talent by the time it comes out.) called the Marionette or Puppet Master.
I Don't know when it will be coming anywhere because I think Mabi KR is just now receiving it in the Test Servers.
Also this is just a rumor but apparently the Squirrel and Desert Fox Ragdolls are actually part of the Marionette/Puppet's Weapons.
Should this be put on the wiki?
- Gathering Violets doesn't give any exp. Too bad.
- It also appears that mining spirit fossils doesn't give exp. That what I'd have assumed, but at the same time no message showed up and no exp was given even when I mined out Iron Ores, which is contradictory to the chart. So maybe I can take it one step further and say that mining from a Spirit Fossil deposit, itself, doesn't give exp? Either that, or there was a bug of some kind. No idea at the moment, so a cross-reference would be helpful.
Where'd that come from?
Either Code 2008 is vandalizing or they made some really weird mistranslation in NA... Can anyone look into this? Until this is confirmed, I'm going to turn it back as this is HIGHLY unlikely.
title.english.txt has it as monk for everything... I highly suggest we leave it as Fighter unless NA doesn't change it before it is released because it is HIGHLY unlikely this isn't a mistranslation.
Edit: I just checked, job.english.txt has it as Monk.
Are you looking at the language.pack or the 105-106.pack? Because they have contradicting translations. I don't know which one is used in game.
Simple, I didn't touch Mabi since r105 until today... o .o' (Also, to force it to update you have to delete Language.pack and run Mabi. For other files, delete that file then set your version number back by one in ver.dat with a hex editing tool then run Mabi.)
I deleted the language.pack and forced it to redownload it... and it still says Fighter... oh well! I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks anyway.
The only fighting monks in history are/were the Shaolin, Sōhei of Japan, and Knights Templar with Knights Hospitallers and Teutonic Knights to a lesser extent. But otherwise, most monks are pacifists. So it would be very odd to use fighter and monk interchangeably. But I've looked though the language files in language.package and fighter is the term that is used.
I wouldn't vandalize anything. I simply was looking at the 105_to_106 files during maintenance and happened to notice it in the job.english.txt file (as well as the titles file).
Yes, the 105_to_106 files have it as Monk while language has it as Fighter.
The game uses the Language files tho, friend tried it by altering only the ones in the XXX_to_XXX packs which did not make a change while changing the Language.pack ones did.
I heavily suggest keeping it as Fighter unless Nexon does change it in Language too, or one of the Employees does say they'll name it different.
You also have to consider that Nexon is going to pick a gender neutral term, which is why they renamed the Knight and Wizard destinies to Warrior and Mage respectively. Monk has a strong masculine history and association to it, were as Fighter is much more gender neutral.
Alright, after chatting with Sabina, she said the official name will be "Fighter" Destiny.
Sorry for all the problems I caused.
Naa, it wasn't your faults. It's the faults of the people who give like 12 different translations for one thing... *Points to Assault Slash and G15's title*
Yes, both r107 and r107's language.pack have it as Fighter now... (Seriously where did Monk come from?...)
Like I said, I was just looking through the 105_to_106.pack file and noticed it in there.
I can see where they were thinking Monk though as self-meditation, etc. Monks did a lot of that and well... now look at Avatar: The Last Airbender, isn't the main character technically a monk, but he does a lot of fighting (I am not sure, I'm just going off of what I've seen from the Nickelodeon TV show and Movie)
How does Merchant affect Commerce besides the Smuggler. I hear from a friend that Merchants get more rewards for that?
So...playing on my new Character, Sariaviolet, I noticed there's no more auto training...did they mess it up? or is it bugged?
To add to this, I no longer receive skills what be would related to the destiny...
All of them are human. the Training bonus works, but automatic training...not so much...maybe it's something on my end or an isolated issue...
As in you can rank it to the next rank without training it. it seems to be missing. all the other minor alts I had during the G15 decision fiasco (gave up working on it) was able to rank skills while having a total of under 100 could rank skill of their respectful destiny. it seems to be absent now. perhaps this is due to abuse? but I think it might be bugged...unsure atm.
Also I'm not learning the skills automatically either. After a certain level, you could learn new skills. Currently Lv20...so more details to come as I progress on my new life...
Your character's total level must be under 100 in order to rank skills without training them. However, you must reach a required total level before you can rank the skill again (e.g. total level of 10 allows an alchemist destined person to rank some skills to D before requiring to level up again (actually I'm not even sure about that...)). I don't know what the total should be before most skills are allowed to rank all the way from F to A, but I do know that you can't just get from F to A by having a total level of 1.
Can Giants become Rangers? Although they can't wield a bow, Throwing Attack is technically a ranged ability and only Rangers get Crit training.
Yes, they can. Also, choosing a beginner destiny as one also works. However, this helps them in no way. Throwing attack is only in the melee destiny.
o.o other than life skills (if a giant does decide to go that path) and balance on weapons, not really no. But They can benefit from any destiny really. Trying to get ranger destiny on my giant for crit training (she's in limbo :c)
So, what was it like back then? :3
You mean in the KR beta for classes? It gave EXP for using life skills, bonus luck on level, and locked training on most fighting skills while restricting the use of advanced combat/magic/alchemy skills. It also exclusively allowed lucky gather.
Gosh, locking skill use was incredibly stupid. Good thing they took it out...
How was the Merchant stat-influenced back then?
The KR Test class system didn't even last 1 week before it was converted to the destiny system due to global protest. Most of the benefits have been changed to the current default (lucky gather, exp when crafting). The new system simply aims to increase said benefits. G15 is another one of those "The game is overbalanced, screw the rules you have power" gens. Its adding life skill destiny, removing wand restrictions, increasing med, re-powering AR, and s3 made it even easier to earn ducats. NA is also getting Bunshin.
Only the skill locking of the class system was protested. Merchant destiny was not included because it was "too powerful" for that stage of the game. Just like Arrow revolver and bowmill were "too powerful" when dex was the most damaging stat (updates have since mad int and str better or more plentiful). Thats also why the wand restrictions are being lifted. Magic is now too far behind the other 3 combat trees because it is locking.
Refining isn't even that hard/troublesome to rank compared to many other life skills.
People tend to think refining is hard because it'll be the first skill they seriously try. Furthermore it's one of those skills that are recommended to be ranked prior to any other. In the end it's actually not as bad as a lot of people make out. Things like blacksmithing, weaving, tailoring are generally worse once you hit certain ranks. Certain ranks of handicraft are also more arduous than a lot of refining.
I have over 80 hours in carpentry easily. A lot of that is x2 skill exp from double rainbow events. Its rank 5. Sounds good right? Not even 1/3 of the way to rank 1. Refining is an average skill in terms of time. Especially with all the plentiful ore and ingots from minigames and metallurgy. I know people who have gotten rF->1 refine in less than 15 hours.
I'm not a GM or employee, so I can't tell you how they came to that decision. I only know that KR DevCat likes to raise the upper limits on this limitless game. Lately it seems like they've been holding back though. Rumors are that either G16 or G17 will be another massive skilling patch since G16 would be the last of its arc and G17 would be a new arc.
If anyone knows what privileges and disadvantages the beginner destiny system provides, can you please list them? Like, what skills you get for what destinies and at what levels. Along with what items and equipment you receive. For example, do Mages get Mana Potions upon leveling? Do Alchemists get Stamina Potions and Crystals (what kinds too if so), do Archers get handmade arrows? Etc.
