Methods

First of all, the coupons for completing the event are not tradeable, lootable, mailable, they cannot be withdrawn from alt's bank nor placed in a house. (It was probably a given but I tried anyways)

Second of all, waiting for the last two hints before finishing dialogue does not let you get the prize in 'under a minute' however, the under a minute seems to end at around 1:30 time spent inside the shadow realm. Perhaps the devs decided to give us time to finish the dialogue? Or perhaps that is lag on my part? Can anyone verify?

Third, I'm working on a way of getting it under one minute the first try. So far, learning all the hints and then restarting doesn't work as all the features seem to be random. It seems to me that more often, the one you are looking for is in the very center of the starting crowd (one of those in the general center). I've found two in that general area so far. I will try to make a map of common spawn points but I don't know yet if he is just a random spawn all over the place.

I'm also looking for patterns in the feature scheme.

Its better when the NPCs are not walking, IE frozen by lag because all their movements are identical and random from what I could tell observing the correct one for a while.

Linxindao (talk)15:51, 6 January 2014

I found HIM near the outer rim of where I entered. It'd probably be frustrating but you could always talk to one or two and then leave if they're wrong, and rinse and repeat that.

omg my head just exploded....oh wait. I can use this as a checklist 8D...only being able to probably check off a few before restarting...AP me qq

1/17 chance. That's not so bad... is it?

Infodude575 (talk)18:12, 6 January 2014

Except that on top of the ~5% chance, it's timed, it costs valuable time to jiggle around and find the eyes in the first place, and every wrong guess costs you 3-5 seconds just to get back to where you were, and they're moving. Rigged game is rigged.

Oh boy, this is harder than I thought. OMG STAP WALKING!

How much harder is Find Waldo than this?

Infodude575 (talk)13:49, 7 January 2014

Find waldo isn't animated. v .v

Kapra - (Talk)14:36, 7 January 2014

Aren't there like hundreds to thousands of people though?

Infodude575 (talk)14:37, 7 January 2014

Well it would be easier for a female to do than a male, as females look at entire pictures whereas males look at details, btu the fact that they're all smushed together and you are looking for very specific details, Find Waldo is much easier. But this event is just try and guess, because you are not given all the details until the very end.

Kapra - (Talk)14:44, 7 January 2014

"females look at entire pictures whereas males look at details"

wouldnt that make it easier for MALES since you have to look for specific details?

Legiathan (talk)11:25, 12 January 2014

Not quite, if you send a guy to look for milk in a refrigerator, it will take a while unless he stands REALLY far form the doorway. Males would be looking at part of objects, rather than the entire thing. Males would be quicker to find if a milk is nonfat or half and half, but females would be faster to find the milk itself.

Kapra - (Talk)21:42, 12 January 2014

as for me personally, if i know what kind of milk is being asked for (if youre talking about in a store) i find that one immediately, and a woman finds it slower 99 times out of 100.

in a house, i find it even faster.

Legiathan (talk)13:04, 13 January 2014

I must be a guy in my head then o_o I do both D:

ベリサ・マイルスター (talk)11:26, 12 January 2014

Both do both, but which is greater depends on your neurology.

Kapra - (Talk)21:43, 12 January 2014

I am a male and if something doesnt look the same as the stuff around it that thing sticks out like a sore thumb. I have a FAR easier time finding lost objects than anyone else I know. I have no handicaps in terms of finding things based on single details.

Not to mention the hats make the hair cover his eyes

ベリサ・マイルスター (talk)20:45, 7 January 2014

Running this about 4 times a day and I noticed something when there's monster lag (when they don't move).

  • Normal Joes have Tired eyes and Innocent eyes. There isn't anything special among them.
  • Tork Blacksmiths Joes have Tired eyes and Empty eyes. There isn't anything special among them.
  • Aladdin Joes have Tired eyes and Empty eyes. There is only one with a pillow in his hand and O signal in his hand have Innocent eyes.
  • Star-Shaped Wizard Joes have Innocent and pure look eyes and only the one whit X Signal in his hand and a glove have Sleepy-as-alway's Look eyes.
  • Santa Joes have Innocent Eyes, except for the one with Red Reindeer Antler Headband, who have Tired eyes.
  • Carpenter Joes have Empty eyes, except for the one with a Fishing Rod in his hand, who have Tired eyes.

Just weird observations :x

All of which were easily observed in the pastebin and no real use Thread:Talk:Find Caravan Joe/Methods/reply (4)

I barely used it :c so I didn't look back at it often.

ベリサ・マイルスター (talk)11:09, 11 January 2014

I can use a human and run out to talk to 4 NPCs before the 1 minute duration is up. And since it's 1/17th of a chance, being able to talk to 4 of them raises it to 4/17, or 23.5% chance for it to be the real one.

A Giant's speed is roughly similar or faster to a human, though that small speed boost won't be a huge effect as a elf.

On a elf you can probably talk to 4-5 of them, raising that up to 5/17 or 29.4% chance. If you get lucky and most of the targets are near the front, you can talk to 5-6 of them, raising the chance to 6/17 oor 35% chance that it's one of them...

Basically, any of the npcs you talk to is closer to your spawn, the more 'dialogues' you can trigger. But Walking NPCs makes it 2x harder than Stationary ones as they can confuse you on which ones that aren't talked to and which one you already talked to.

The clues pops up based on ingame time I'm guessing... When it showed the 1 minute elapse time and I talked to the right NPC a bit afterwards, it still counts as 1 minute. Meaning the 'time' that it takes to get the base rewards, is real time, whilst the clues are shadow mission time...
