During the events in the Tory Ravine, Cethlenn is captured by Pihne.
Afterwards, Marleid negotiates with Eirawen to allow Cethlenn to become the guardian of Tech Duinn. It is revealed that Cethlenn saved Marleid from a fire when she was younger, giving her a reason to keep living.
Post-story, when talked to on Saturdays at Tech Duinn, he mentions that the name 'Cethlenn' was given to him by Vayne, a name he always wanted to give his most trusted aide. He also says that Vayne is the one who taught him how to fight.
