History

Samhain - 2nd Movement: Broken Melody (Spoilers)[show]

Sera was the leader of a fleet of settlers from another world that seeked to reach Erinn. He is the grandfather of Laighlinne, and briefly makes an appearance at the end of the story. He put Laighlinne in charge of the 3rd fleet. Unbeknownst to him, his son, Partholon, formed a rebellion and left his daughter and father stranded on the sea. Sera ends up losing his life before ever reaching Erinn.

Mainstream Story

G24 - Ascension Part 1 (Spoilers)[show]

Granted with the promise of being able to one day walk alive in Erinn by Hymerark, Sera helms the Order of the Black Moon as one of its commanders. During the Nights, with the help of Fodla and Deirbhile, he channels the power of the Altar of Doubhca in order to make moonstones fall all across Erinn.

As a commander, he is often depicted as a strict man, and refuses to have a Lieutnant, unlike his compatriots.

He fights the Milletian at the Altar of Doubhca, aiming to complete a ritual initially meant for Hymerark to descend, but instead diverts it for his own purposes. Aiming to use Piran's body, as his own descendant, he planned to sacrifice both Piran and the Milletian (as the Caliburn's holder) to that purpose.

Upon being defeated, he expresses his regrets and laments on his inability to fully reach Erinn, before his ghost scatters.

Battle Information

Fragments of a Trivial Fate[show]

• Summons Black Ship Rats and Flying Swords continuously through the fight as they are taken down.
• He can use Interrupted Connection at any point in the fight.
• One strategy is to lure him towards the entrance of the room, just out of the summoned creatures' aggro range.
• A player with high defensive stats can use Iron Will and Tenacious Taunt to distract the summoned creatures. A high level Iron Will is very likely to last long enough to cover the boss fight with a full party.
  • Alternatively, a Giant can use Taunt and Wind Guard.
• There are periods of time where Interrupted Connection is not active. Summon an AOE pet to escape the onslaught of rats if you're to become trapped in a corner.
• Using Fire Magic Shield to block his Fireball is ill-advised; he appears to approach and cast shockwave in response.

Generation 24: Ascension[show]

• His basic attack is performed in a wide sweep, with a range similar to that of a chain blade.
• Every 10% of his health, Ghost Pirates and Black Moon Followers will spawn.
• At 50% HP and below, Sera can use Interrupted Connection, disabling pet summons, and will start using Spectre.
• Merlin will usually die in one hit. Don't rely on him.
• Stay at a safe distance to avoid the brunt of his melee hits.
• Avoid his meteors, as they will deal tremendous damage if the player is hit. He will always always try to pinpoint the meteors in your general area.
  • If you get hit, and did not immediately die, there will be a small moment before you get back up; any monster near you can attack you while you are down.
  • Make use of walk speed-giving buffs and potions; mobility is key. Avoid using skills that require you to stay static.

Notwithstanding the existence of the Laighlinne partner, it is possible that following the events of Samhain, he disposed himself of Laighlinne, fed up with her failures. This in turn made him refuse to take a lieutnant, for he was not willing to deal with any more of that.
