Talk:Ticking Quiz Bomb
Self-bomb
Can you use it on your self? User:Heme
- No, because its a skill, and like most skills with the exception of Heal, Mend, and Rest, you can't use it on your self --Zaros 00:17, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Chat bots...
Could they make one to use on them, they spam the chat selling mods all over Tir Chonaill.--Elfeana 22:55, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

use on playing instruments afk | 16 | 21:06, 26 January 2015 |
Something ain't right. | 6 | 19:11, 10 January 2012 |
From what I've been told:
- Inventory space 2x2 -> 1x1
- Stack limit 5 -> 20
- NPC shop price 200g -> 100g
- Cooldown removed in exchange for 20 limit use
Screenshot function added somewhere- Character lock duration raised from 30 minutes to 24 hours.
Can anyone verify these changes? If the last one is true, then the quiz bombs now basically encourage trolling.

Last part confirmed to be true. Welcome to Trollnogi.
As for the page itself:
- New description: This bomb will give another player a timed quiz! Use it on a player you suspect of botting. But beware, using these on nice people could make you a few new enemies. Try saying hello before you blast them back to the stone age!
- Bombs can be used on players who are gathering.
- Lock duration lasts between 30 minutes to 24 hours.
- Lock duration is displayed in minutes.
- Lock duration appears to be based on:
- How long the character was logged in (needs more verification, since the other seems more plausible).
- How many times the account was bot bombed (successfully?).
- Formula has yet to be determined.
- Lock duration only goes down if the player is logged in.
- Locked players can be targeted (unlike what it currently says), but cannot be attacked.
- The captcha prompt is always two words, the first letter of both words is always capitalized.
- The captcha prompt can be refreshed for a new one.
- Also according to the thread:
- Captcha prompt duration lasts 2 minutes.
- Refresh can only be performed twice.
- A player cannot bot bomb the same person more than twice per real-life day. Dunno what reset time is (12am or 7am PST).
As of Rejuvinogi Extra, the content on this page is no longer a feature of Mabinogi. |
Bye bye Bot Bomb! Please burn in hell and never show your face again!
someone used one of these on me while i was playing instruments and working on a score in 3mle a while back, and i recently tried to use it on a troll who was afk to make him stop playing default music horribly in the middle of dunbarton, but couldnt, anyone know why?
Playing Instruments will not reset your combat mode status, so if you were in combat mode before playing a song, you will stay in combat mode, which will allow the use of a quiz bomb.
ah, that could be, since it used to be a myth that going into combat mode or out of it increases chances of getting a successful play
even science is superstition till it gets proven as science by having worked enough times in a row for enough people
im just pointing out that science is nothing more than a set of experiments which come out the same way every time, its based on observation and thats it.
And superstitions are...?
superstitions are based on what one person said once as a rumour, and are in fact impossible to replicate reliably, such as luck changing based on behavior around dark cats, ladders and mirrors
ask GLaDOS
also, its only really different in that it cannot be reliably replicated, and was started not based on observation, but on a rumor.
i know how to spot a logical fallacy, and no, thats not what im saying.
what i am saying is that most of science is based on the assumption that if you do a certain thing a certain way and the result is always the same, then its a fact. this is not always true, since one could be ignoring some of the variables that way.
what im saying in relation to mabinogi skill related superstitions is that the only way to know for sure is to decompile the client and pack files and sift through to see if you can find any proof
The bomb is weird sometimes. I tried it on *X*****r one time in EvG and it didn't go through. It works on Ik*****i though.
Ticking Quiz bomb works fine as is. You probably went into combat mode, afk played, and consequently, you were stuck in combat mode. If you have the need to afk play, I highly suggest less densely populated areas. As far as the whole "Combat Mode helps success," it's all superstitious rumors. You actually have a set "hidden" percent success, part of that success rate being god-like performances and such, at least from what I've been told.
Off topic but, as far as EvG, yes it does work in EvG. Good way to piss people off lol
I know that combat mode does nothing for success rates. the conversation was more about what constitutes "science" and what doesnt. That being the case, if you want to talk about what DOES seem to affect success, if you unequip and then re-equip your instrument, it seems to reset the success rate counter, which sometimes helps, and sometimes doesnt. then again, it could just interrupt your attempts long enough to get you into a different part of the random success rates number generator.
as for the idea that i: "afk played,"
no, i clearly stated that i was not afk, just not watching the chat log because i was creating another MML in the 3mle editor, please dont assume im one of the annoying people who afk in a populated area with instrument playing going, i am NOT one of the troll bards.
"someone used one of these on me while i was playing instruments and working on a score in 3mle a while back"
the very first line indicates that i was NOT afk, thanks for trying though
It was pretty early in the morning and only read the thread title. my bad. As far as the whole ticking bomb thing, and using limited wifi, it works fine in various situations. Just be cautious about playing instrument and make sure you're not stuck in combat mode.
Apparently it's listed in the "NeedIcon" list, but when I press the edit button, it doesn't have a Someone explain to me.
Certain templates will automatically sort things into the NeedIcon category, but after the icon has been uploaded, sometimes the page needs to be edited for the template to realize the icon is there, and then it will automatically take away the category tag.
Can't someone just adjust the template to fix that like I suggested to Ikkisuki? Or are we just going to input the name values for all of the items that haven't been auto-uncategorized?
You don't have to edit the name values unless the icon has a different name from the page name. If the icon exists, just edit the page (click edit and save w/o changing anything) and it should remove the category tag. At least, this is how it works in my experience. It could be a browser or cookie thing for all I know.
Yup, that worked. That was simple. -.-'
Though, I don't suppose there's still some value in tweaking the template? I think that's probably easier than trying to remember to re-save a page each time the cleaned icon is uploaded...
