Radius?

I was wondering, since rank 5 smash does splash damage, what is the radius of the splash? And how many enemies will receive the splash damage at a time? --Lloyd 13:37, 22 August 2008.

It's actually a pretty wide hit. It depends on the weapons natural splash too. I have noticed that my Gladius has Wide splash but not very far forward. It's limited to however enemies u can get into that one spot. Also the splash takes effect on point and time of contact. I.E. if a mob runs across your target right as you smash your target and the other mob is still running past. It will not continue to attack/move after it got to the predestined spot, and will fly back from there. Also its just a bit bigger than normal splash. I smash splash with my bare fists at rank 5--Trickybomb 09:51, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
A r5 smash's splash is about the size of a mace's splash. A r1 smash's splash is about the size of a claymore's splash.

Smashing with a bow

Smashing with a bow is not a glitch, it is a mod. Illegal and is not allowed. Information from people who use mods.--Trickybomb 05:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Stamina used?

Any idea how much stamina used when loading the skill? Is it varies between ranks? -- Leslandes 09:43, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

It does vary, but I honestly can't tell how much by.. It took my giant 4 at rank 9, bare handed. My human takes 5 at rank 9 with two bastard swords though.. It could multiply the total use of a normal swing for whatever weapon you're holding.. but then again, if it did that, it would mean the equation was different for giants.. hm. I think that case would be right for humans though, at rank 9 it could be 200% of the total stamina you would use, because a single swing from a bastard sword is 1.2 stamina, and with dual that's doubled to 2.4, then to 4.8 if you mutiply it by 200% which rounds to 5. I have to say though, this is only a theory, I really have no idea ^^' -Aku

Smash skill and the Defence Stat

I do indeed mean the stat in this inquiry. Does the smash skill ignore just the defense SKILL or the defense stat as well?

Smash damage still get reduced from protection and defense. W960i 16:38, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

New Training

Just a note on the new training section. Personally, I hate it. Took me a while to figure out what things meant, and overall, it looks too cluttered. Why don't we have humans as the main page, and have links to elf/giants on a separate page such as Smash/Giant or Smash/Elf Zephyre 17:45, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I, personally, don't mind the windmill training format, so maybe we could go with that. But yea, it's rather hard to understand the way it is now >.<"--♫ѕταя♪ 14:19, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

splash damage

Is the splash damage % in the table based on base damage or smash damage?--Sozen Cratos Focker 21:57, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Its based on your smash damage, though its calculated seperately. so it wont be 10% of exactly what you smashed on the main mon. --(not-so)Anonymous 06:00, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

when r1 says 20% of 500%, so that means a total of 100%, or normal damage, to monsters affected by the splash, correct? and how does a weapon's natural splash damage % affect it? like if a dblade has 55% splash, and u have r1 smash, does that go to 75% of the 500% smash attack? or does it not have any affect at all, and weapon's splash is only normal attacks?--SUPERCOW 06:00, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Damage

Say, at rank F when you deal 200% damage, will you deal twice or once your strength modifier? At rank 1, 5 times or once? This should be added to the pageNovaix 04:46, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, you deal 200% of the damage that's displayed in the Character window. So everything is already taken into account. ~Zallist 08:10, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Two-handed weapons

Didn't nexon say (yeah, trusting them, what am I thinking?) that blunts would also have smash improvements?Novaix 04:50, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I think they meant two-handed hammers and two-handed axes in that update post. --Berkt 07:26, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

If a giant use a two handed sword, does the giant get the increased damage or would they not since they hold it in one hand? --Dias 17:53, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

I wanted to know this as well. So far anybody I asked wasn't sure. Most people seem to be split on the idea. --DANTE20XX 05:11, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Yup, in the client, the bonus affects anything that is considered "two-handed". In this case, even though giants can use a shield with the 2h, they will still enjoy the two-handed bonus since it's still a two-handed weapon. --Miyuna 05:28, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

2h Damage %?

Who and where did they get this data from? --κєνıи тαıĸ«) 04:56, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Smash gets a 20% damage boost from two-handed weapons or so I've heard.--BIassreiter 21:33, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Since G7, any melee weapon not wieldable with a shield, aka two handers, gets an additional 20% multiplier. 5*1.2=6, so at rank 1, it's a 600% boost. It also receives a higher crit chance, from what I hear, though I'm not sure on how much. --Sephy 03:40, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
What about giants? Since they can wield both. --κєνıи тαıĸ«) 04:22, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
It's applicable to things like two-handed swords or dragon blades (anything that are two-handed swords to humans only will receive the bonus), though I'm not sure about giant-exclusive weapons. It should be since everything is really just based off whether humans or not can use a shield with it or not. --Miyuna 06:01, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
So this applies to elves with the Brionac too? ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 07:00, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
I think so. --Miyuna 07:07, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

New Format?

I don't know if thise is a new formatting style on the wiki, but this page is EXTREMELY difficult to read. I personally think we should revert back to the old format.(There could also be a problem with my browser :P)Th3Evil5Ponge 23:57, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

You mean how everything from rank B on is smashed together? I think that's a problem with the code but I can't find out what it is. --kaede-kit 00:10, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Why are we changing it to Skills3R anyways? It was only made when C2 came out. I was just editing it so it looked better ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 05:18, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Generic Condition?

What's this "Generic Condition" thing in the training requirements section? I've never seen it beforeTh3Evil5Ponge 20:18, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

It's a mistake in the coding that's causing it to do that; I'll fix it. --kaede-kit 20:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Giant/2H damage bonus/increase formatting.

The damage multiplier for Smash differs for giants, and this is an actual base multiplier difference, which means it will change how effective reforges are (since they're additive to the skill values). For example for a human and giant at R1 with a level 16 smash damage reforge (+160%), the human would go from 500% to 660% damage, a 32% total damage increase. Meanwhile the giant would go from 600% to 760%, a 26.6% total damage increase.

On the other hand, the bonus for holding a 2H weapon is a flat 1.2x after the skill multiplier, so it's not the value that the reforge adds onto and it doesn't affect the strength of the reforge. I changed the way it's displayed for clarity, so people always know what the actual skill multiplier is when comparing reforges and doing math on them and such.

If somebody thinks it'd look better in some other format, feel free to fix it up, just make sure it's clear that it's a second multiplier.

Shuriken Smash hitting Flight

http://mabination.com/threads/81840-Ninja-quot-combat-advantages-quot-Glitch-or-intended-functionality

I'm going to test this in a few minutes. Tested against Blinker, doesn't work. I'd have to check the dragons. Eh... I don't think I can get close enough with all that FPS drop...

Infodude575 (talk)10:46, 23 August 2014

Shuriken Smash Hitbox Targeting

  • Vs Giant Spider in Alby Normal: Makes me go under them and to their center hitbox in order to execute this skill.
  • Vs Giant Spider in SAO Alby Zone 2: Allows me to execute this skill while standing outside of their legs, the edge of their hitbox.

... Weird.

Infodude575 (talk)18:43, 15 August 2014

Yeah, I don't much get it either. It's very bad at red dragon if you're aiming at a specific part. Some ancients also require you to be in the direct center of their large hit box and others of the same size don't. Might be a skill issue?

Meru (talk)22:50, 15 August 2014

Well, these are the exact same monsters, just in different locations and one of them is an event monster. It strikes me as odd when I have to be at the center of one, but not for the other.

Infodude575 (talk)22:59, 15 August 2014

They may be the same...but did you check the size? Monster's size alters hitboxes, even if they have the same name.

Not to mention, just because they look the same, doesn't necessarily mean they are the same, especially if they're from different areas/dungeons.

iDSd23:09, 15 August 2014

Ranged Attack at furthest range appears to be the same for both.

Infodude575 (talk)23:35, 15 August 2014

I'm able to Smash with a shuriken outside the legs in Alby Normal... How many times did you test this exactly?

iDSd00:13, 16 August 2014

I've done it three times in Alby Normal, all made me go to its center.

Infodude575 (talk)00:22, 16 August 2014

How long are we keeping it locked for? E_E

Infodude57521:18, 3 August 2012

Smash's 2h Damage

This damage is relevant to all two-handed weapons. If I'm not mistaken, it applies to Two-Handed Swords, Giant's Two-Handed Blunts, and the Lances.

Confirmation?

Infodude57515:15, 11 July 2011

Bump...

Also, wouldn't Scythes and Staves be affected, too?

Infodude57517:25, 28 June 2012

Since Bard is about to be here, and instruments would become a bit more prevalent as weapons, I'd like to know: What instruments, if any, are counted as two-handed weapons as far as Smash's damage is concerned?

Iyasenu00:17, 24 July 2012

The list is being populated as I add in the information

Ke-fun00:41, 24 July 2012

I totally forgot about the Instruments...

Some are made for combat, some aren't. Either way, Dischord is the Bard Smash so you probably wouldn't be using Normal Smash with Instruments...

Infodude57501:04, 24 July 2012

inb4 "You cannot use Smash with this weapon"

Uh... what?

Infodude57517:43, 24 July 2012

G16S2 damage.

On my human, r1 smash, I see 500%. Not 550%. So is it 50% hidden bonus or the page isn't up to date?

Gaby501121:44, 7 July 2012

More Nexon derping? Why am I not suprised...

Gaby501121:48, 7 July 2012

Did it really get buffed? Because my Smash Rank 1 still says 500%, and I'm human...

Unless mods are interfering again...

Infodude57510:41, 30 June 2012

EDIT: Hmmm, says 600% on my giant. I'll have to test if it REALLY does more damage or they just updated the description though.

DANTE20XX15:00, 30 June 2012

Yes it definitely isn't doing the old damage that it was before. I can only guess they forgot to update the human smash description.

DANTE20XX15:14, 30 June 2012

Splash Damage and Upgrades

If a weapon like say a Battle Hammer with two splash damage upgrade was use with r1 smash, would the splash damage upgrade (24%) stacks with r1's 20%? Or to dumb it down, does splash damage upgrade effect splash damage from smash?

Ohii06:10, 27 November 2010

It seems to be that way with dragon blades so I can't imagine why it wouldn't work with a battle hammer.

Kingrussel22:25, 11 January 2011

So how does that work? Normally r1 smash splash is 120% of the player's damage (.2 * 6) when using 2h's. Does that mean you were able to do 140%+ with a dragon blade?

Tellos22:34, 11 January 2011
