Talk:Shock
What is the damage for this skill? Nandattebayo 01:20, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't say anything about it in the game files. --Jαy 01:30, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
I wonder if this skill deals Lightning Damage... Its pretty uber, but I want to know how useful this is against elemental targets. ~ Darkblade132
- According to the description it does. At the very least it can be used to stun the lightning types Nandattebayo 03:31, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
Shock's Damage
Is the numbers correct? It does more damage than Fury of Light, even at r1! --Miyuna 08:34, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- I wouldn't be amazed if it did. I could check it in the pack files, but I'm too lazy to. Might do it later today, when I get home from school. --Link 14:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
How expensive is it to get this skill?
Considering that the pages basically only come from adv/hard missions at a low rate. ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 05:21, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- 10~20m to rank it past Novice, you can still use it at novice--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 05:22, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Cooldown
Where is the cooldown for this? I'm fairly certain there is a cooldown just don't know how long it is...--Aubog007 16:52, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Translation
Isn't there a translation description of this skill yet? Not just that but for other g11 material such as Shadow Spirit, etc. --Miyuna 01:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- No. It will probably be in the next patch though. EDIT: I checked the Rath NPCs and they still aren't translated ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 05:35, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Can Shock Perform Critical Hits
Can Shock crit or is the damage consistent, just like life drain? --Miyuna 23:19, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Drop Location and %'s
How does anyone know the actual % chance of it dropping? Isn't it server sided so no wiki would have that information anyway? Even if they did have it. Why don't they have it for the other skill pages for other skills? In my personal opinion I suggest the drop percentages be removed as they could be completely false and there IS no proof that it is true? Unless another version of Mabinogi states this on their website and homepage?--Aubog007 23:31, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Pft, I wonder too, it's kind of suspicious, no? --Miyuna 23:39, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- In the pack files(or w/e it's called) doesn't it say what monsters drop? I don't remember seeing anyone say anything about drop %'s, but it could be possible? Or it could be like the critical rate test, where they attack a black tailed mongoose 5000+ times to see how many crits they get?Th3Evil5Ponge 01:05, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- If so they should update the drop tables for the important items then? --Aubog007 02:41, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Shock Damage Modified Twice
Would shocks damage receive two bonuses in g13? One from fire alchemy mastery and one from wind alchemy mastery?--Rais 11:32, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure, but I do know that using a tower cylinder will boost the dmg up 50%. --Miyuna 11:54, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- You can't use shock with a tower cylinder because shock is not a projectile. Tellos 19:39, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- You can cast shock with a normal cylinder then switch to a tower cylinder. The tower cylinder's bonus kicks in and the shock becomes stronger. --Miyuna 01:48, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that isn't how it works Tellos 02:11, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Then I must be doing something extremely wrong because even with r1 Shock and r1 alchemy mastery I am lucky to even hit 200 damage... this video over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpdB0qdaD6s - it shows that person hitting 300~400 damage. What am I doing wrong?--Miyuna 02:15, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't know it could do that. xD Its probably an overlooked bug. Tellos 03:01, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Whatever it is, it's in official servers. Maybe I should edit the Tower Cylinder page to say that if you cast shock with a normal cylinder then switch to a tower cylinder, one can still enjoy its increased benefits. --Miyuna 13:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Shock Damage
Is it possible we have the pre-nerfed shock damage since that table is for G12 Shock damage?--Aubog007 12:11, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- Shock actualy got buffed in G12 because it was pitiful. Shock had a faster interval and higher radius and damage in G11 beta, it got nerfed, and then got nerfed again then was released as official. In G12 they boosted the damage. We got certain skills pre-updated due to extreme differences. Shock was extremely useless and the magic shields were way too potent when they were first released in KR. We also got the prenerfed mana forming skill so that we couldn't shoot 5000 damage fireballs. Tellos 19:44, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- So, is it still possible the damage we have now is pre-g12? Mine seems awfully weak. --Miyuna 01:49, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- No this is the post G12 Damage, spark is not meant to be a kill-skill. Its supplimentary damage. Tellos 02:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Then the damage table must be really off. Is there any way to get the real damage numbers? --Miyuna 02:11, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Why do you think they are off? According to H1111 they are about right. Tellos 02:15, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

- Then why remove the estimate min and max damage from the shock table? --Miyuna 02:16, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know why they removed them but those are indeed the G12 version, if you sift through the history we had the pre G12 verion which I think was about 30% less damage. Tellos 02:20, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Can you restore them? =/ It looks like a pain of a job and tables in general are unfriendly to me. --Miyuna 02:22, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not going to restore them untill this is sorted out. People need to use shock on something without elements since as I recall Shock is Lightning Element, and gets a damage boost from alchemy mastery. We need to clean out all the different factors. I do not have shock, nor am I getting it any time soon and I can't use KR server for this so someone with shock needs to get some clean numbers. Tellos 02:36, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- what could possibly make shock do 2~3x the indicated damage?--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 02:54, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- When did shock do 2-3x Damage? According to the table, shock's max damage was ~120 (r1), meaning that it'd be closer to ~160 with r1 alchemy possibly as high as 230+ if the enemy is of a weak element. Tellos 02:59, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ah wait I see, I know that Shock went through several revisions on KR Test, so perhaps we got a bad table? If thats the case then we definately have the G12 shock and our numbers were the pre-G12 shock. Tellos 03:02, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, there was a reason why the damage table was taken off in JP wiki, they had the same damage table a long time ago but it was deleted because the damage didn't match anymore through multiple revisions.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 03:05, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

Can Shock actually score criticals with unchanged damage, or can it not critical at all? I've ranked this to 1 recently and while also running around Foxes/Mongoose with 150% critical I have never seen a single crit from Shock.
If the page states that the skill does not deal critical hits and you've actually tested it yourself, where does the uncertainty come from?
Not doing critical damage and not being able to critical hit at all are two completely different things.
Well, how do you deal critical damage? By dealing critical hits.
Is there anything that deals critical hits with no damage increase?
And the fact that you tested it yourself?
- Mana Crystallization
- Shadow Spirit
- Spear of God
- Rage Impact
All of these can crit with no changes to their damage, and yes I've done my due diligence.
Now that you mention it, I don't believe I've seen Shock crit either. I looked through the other skill pages on the wiki, and it seems like the only other skill like that is Life Drain. Also, iDSd, the distinction between dealing critical hits and dealing critical damage is at least a little significant. For instance, the skills Info listed above would probably still train Critical Hit while Shock would not. Of course, if you're still training Critical Hit by the time you get Shock, you're probably doing something wrong, lol.
I got page 10 in Coill Dungeon, however I'm uncertain if i got it from a Lighting Sprite. Can someone confirm?
I've ran Coill dozens of times and never saw a Shock page...are you sure you didn't bring it in from elsewhere?
No. I crearly remember i took it from the ground when i was there, it was the only dungeon i did that day, and right now it would be impossible for me to get it from Daol or Shadow wizard (Boss) (I did try the Defeat the shadow Wizard mission, but i never got to the boss room). However I'm still uncertain about which monster dropped it, so I'd rather wait for someone else to confirm this. In any case, this proves that you can get the page from other monsters as well; we just need to find them
I didn't make it to the boss room and decided to leave, so no Boss room
Was another player with you? Sometimes people drop items to make room for whatever they pick up.
I was alone
With a good party running Shadow Wizard on Int (3% chance it says) 8 chances of shock 7 appearing at the end chest, plus running the mission is easier with more stronger players. Though it will require a lot of coordination.
EDIT: Ironically, the fastest way to run shock in Shadow Wizard, is with shock users spamming it at each orb, killing every enemy that spawns in a aoe. Shadow wizards only requires 8 orbs to be triggered to fight a boss unlike shadow commander's 14-16 orbs...
At the same time having a party endlessly killing hornets may have the same effect, but I don't really like field drop rates as they almost never give me anything due to my high CP (hornets are 'strong' to me) other than pollen and honey and gold...
Red Eye Ornata Spiders don't really spawn in a group, hence more isolated and slower to kill than the hornets... But page 8 and 10 is more commonly attainable via ancients and the likes.
The 25 and 70 seal items sold on one day of a week can enable a user to skip this, but it's a huge grind for seals for a whole month, if you do so on one character.
25 seals = +5 skill XP
70 seals = +15 skill XP
So to hit 100XP you need 70 x 6 (15xp) items and 25 x 2 (5xp) items. 70 x 7 (15xp) items would hit the mark with 5 in excess, but instead of spending 70 you could spend 50 to get it to 100.
490 seals for 7 (70 seal) item. 420 + 50 (470) seals for 6 (70s) and 2 (50s).
So which method is faster to grind, getting shock pages or getting seals for skill training items?
If you have 3 characters on a normal account, you could attempt to generate 10-30 seals per day utilizing the bank to stack it all in at the end of the day. Having more character reduces the time to farm seals due to you being able to park lots of characters in specific spots, and funnel items into their inventory to easily access the seals gain and put it in a bank immediately. Warp imps with locations binded to them can provide quick teleportation between npcs spots which gives a seal per daily quest.
It's kind of impossible to tell how long it would take in comparison considering shock page drops are entirely up to luck.
Can you use Shock when it's still Novice? I keep trying and it tells me I need more crystals even though I have 5 in my inventory.
Just putting this here because it might help:
Please avoid using terms like "no use".
Using shock on a monster does NOT do anything at all! It's weird because it should work for default gameplay anywhere else.
It's already on the skill page and has been for quite a while.
Casting Shock on a monster or summoned golem renders the skill ineffective.
Based on my attempts (I've been working at this for the past two days, today is the third) and my levelling rates) I've killed well over a thousand gray wolves before getting both pages 5 and 6.
The drops for each page were somewhat consistent, a full day of nothing followed by an hour or two of killing wolves and a page. So a page drop from my own attempts (based on grey wolves alone) is about 1:500.
Just adding this here for the next person that wants to work on this page, if they would like to monitor their kill count vs. page drop ratio. This is just a starting point.
I spent approximately an average of 5 hours per day hunting wolves, and I know for sure I can kill a hundred wolves in the space of an hour (they only take about 2 or 3 combo hits using fighter, one hit if I critical)
...does it ever rain in scath? I don't go there too often.
After page 5, you are required to have or request somebody with r5 Enchanting to finish putting the pages in the book.
Is this true?!?! o_O....
Found that out the hard way today when trying to put page 6 (rank 5) of Shock into my book, thus why I added that in. It wasn't that way when I did Fireball, so it had to of been added/changed recently to make that happen.
Look at the page, the description says the rank of the enchant, that should've tipped you off in the first place.
But I was able to enchant Fireball pages even thought their ranks (pages 6) were r5+ back when G12 or so was out. I didn't think it had changed, and nobody had mentioned anything about it since.
I think it's the update we had some weeks back...I do no approve :c I was trying to get Fireball (again) for the title of Element Master or w/e... o.e
I just realized...doesn't this affect all pages that require enchanting...? someone seriously needs to confirm this..
ALL Ancient-titled monsters have high chance to drop pages 1, 2 and 10. Pages 3 to 9 still need to be farmed through the regular means. Removing the note saying ancients drop all pages since it is not true
I got pages 6 and 8 this morning. and my brother got pages 4 and 5 this afternoon while we were going around channels camping for ancient spawns. I'm pretty sure it'll drop any page...though i can't verify anything :x
If you got it through drop it's already good to know :v
However i find it weird how, even during DR, all page drop from ancients are shock 1,2 and 10 (+fb10) for me, all guildies and friends when we've been camping them since g15 was implemented
Is it just me, or is only one person allowed to use Shock at a time? Earlier this weekend, I just tried using Shock at the same time as a friend and noticed that the mobs were getting hit only once by his Shock. It looked like mine was having absolutely no effect at all. Is this a bug, or is this happening to everyone too?
