Talk:Musical Knowledge
Alright, something isn't right with getting rank 6 music theory. I know it's out now but that stupid elf won't give me the quest. I have rank 7 now so what's the problem? (taken to forums. Here)
- >> Are you sure you're talking to him with the SKILLS keyword? I've accidentally done that before. Also, your signature would be nice when you write something. ;3 --Skye 17:43, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

- >> Also, to finish this. Me and 2 guildies tested this. One had r3 Playing, one had r5 Playing, and one had r6 Playing. We all had rank 7 Music Theory but only the r3 and r5 got the quest while the r6 did not. However, when the r6 upgraded to r5, they DID get the quest so r5 Playing Instrument is needed to get r6 Music Theory. --Kendoza November 14, 2009
- >> Really now? I seem to have gotten the quest at r8 Playing... --Aeteryn 10:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- >> Adding to this - my Human managed to get the quest with R9 Playing Instrument and R7 Composing, so I don't think that R5 playing is a requirement in order to obtain the quest, as stated.--Piamette 12:15, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- >> And adding to this yet again. As an experiment of sorts, I just brought my mage to Filia and got the quest. I had r7 Music Theory, rNovice Composing, and I didn't even know Playing Instrument (as in, I've never held an instrument). I'd say this is pretty definite evidence that there are no extra requirements. Any problems getting the quest lie elsewhere. --Aeteryn 20:36, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
- I think I know the problem. I wasn't getting the quest, even though I had rank 7 knowledge. While discussing possiblities, Chen asked if I had any skill quests open. I had fireball open, and Djief said that he belives you can't do it with an Intermediate magic quest open. I cancelled the quest, and sure enough, I got the MK quest. --Sephy 04:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Quick question about the Scales
do you only need 1 bottle per scale? or do you need all three?
- I expanded on this last night. If you have a good combination of bottles, you only need 2. Also, please add your signature by adding 4 tildes (~) at the end of your post or clicking the 'signature' button.--Demaetri 18:35, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

So I am on "Deliver the Clay Flute to Effie" and I have the flute, but she won't take it when I talk to her. I'm using one that I bought on another character from the market. On this character, I'm doing it mostly for the INT boost, but I have a bard character that I easily finished the quest with a bought flute a couple years ago. Am I doing something wrong?
I removed the statements that having another skill's quest prevents you from getting the Rank 3 and 4 quests due to someone who had problems receiving the Rank 2 quest. He had no problems with getting the quests for rank 3 and 4, but had to abandon his fireball quest when trying to get the Rank 2 quest. If someone can test the other ranks as well, that'd be awesome.
Is the string instruments book tradable? I'm working on finishing up adventurer and exploration mastery and I want something to strive for so it's not like "ehhh, just doing stuff to rank a skill". I'd possibly be making money.
Oh, Thanks. It never crossed my mind to actually look at the book page itself.
Really? I'm rank 1 MK and all I've gotten are nothing but normal/bad results, one excellent at C, and only one heavenly at E and C.
Also, since Song is just a copypaste skill of Playing Instrument and MK really does affect Song, wouldn't PI also be affected too?
From what I figured before getting music Knowledge, I haven't seen any come out of same ranked scrolls of Song. Doesn't feel quite copy paste, but looking into this with my...failed bard.
Would other music skills work on the big stones or only PI? I'm already Rank 1 so I can't test...
Just why are they in the form of a template on their own page? We never did that for other quests o-o
I think we should convert the the quests into the quest template, and also include them on Skill Quests page.
What for? I think its fine if they're on the page so we don't have to go to the template and it there.

I've noticed that several Inspiring Performances occurs only with certain default songs, while the rest are either simply Normals or Excellent. Has anyone else noticed this, too?
Yup, I don't know the names of the default songs (too lazy to look up all the song names), but the type of performance you get depends on the default song that plays.
I do know that the wedding song and the birthday song are always normal performances, while "Moonlight Hanging at the Hammer Tip" and "Thief's Step" are always inspiring (only 2 song names I know)
Remind me, is it Playing Instrument or Musical Knowledge that influences the array of default songs?
Based on the description, Musical Knowledge.
Edit: misread that. but the answer then definitely Musical Knowledge.
I have rank F musical knowledge on my elf and ever since i started ranking playing, I have been able to achieve better performances. Currently rank 9 Playing. Before I ranked Playing, I could never achieve better performances.
On my human, it has rank 6 Knowledge and Rank 5 Playing. Plays better performances.
My brother, rank C playing and rank 4 Musical Knowledge, but rarely achieves better performances.
Plus, the values I added to playing instrments were from playing instrument skill, not knowledge.
The requirement on the wiki says 20, the quest says to bring one, but at complete doesn't finish Musical Knowledge training as it said it would. Talking to her about skills again(Yvona that is), only resorts in the quest starting back up. Iunno if the quest is bugged, or if you have to do the quest 20 times, but some clarification would be neat.
For reference, http://i.imgur.com/mzQE4.jpg?1 This happens when you do all the requirements, upon complete you get the 10,000 EXP and nothing else. Talking to her about skills only starts the quest again.
