Smugglers

From Mabinogi World Wiki
For more information about the commerce system, see Commerce.

Smuggling is a lifestyle choice! Smuggling is an art form! Smuggling is my passion! Let me tell you something, my friend, those goblins are taking advantage of you. You must admit, you are bit of a dupe. But not I...! I will offer you a fair deal for your Trade Goods! I promise to pay market price for your goods. In return, you'll have to fight through bandits to get me and my fabulous prices. And you have to keep me company for a few minutes. I get lonely when my elephant's mad at me.

If wealth is what your heart longs for, I can make it happen. But like all good things, it comes at a price. You'll loose some of your Merchant Rating when you trade with me. Of course, Merchant Rating can be re-earned, but my friendship is more fickle. In other words, please visit me more often. I'm lonely.

The Daily Trade Good is an item that you can purchase for an unusually high price. You may bring me the Daily Trade Good once per day, and I'll double the price I pay for any goods you sell me immediately after. Now, this bonus effect will not work in conjunction with Letters of Guarantee from goblins or ogres. You wouldn't dream of taking advantage of a good friend like me, would you?

Byrun

Byrun, the smuggler, and his Best Friend, an Elephant.
  • Every night between 10:00PM and 6:00AM in-game time, the smuggler, Byrun will appear.
    • The Bandits near Byrun are often of higher rank.
      • Any Boss Bandit that appears will have a modified quote.
      • Outlaws will never accompany the bandits near the smuggler.
      • Despite what Byrun says, you do not actually have to fight any bandits in order to trade with him.
    • Byrun pays a hefty sum for your goods, however this will cause your Merchant Rating for the town the goods originated from to decrease by double the profit made.
      • This will not happen if you trade them the Daily Trade Good.
        • It works only once per real life day, though, as trading the Daily Trade Good more than once will decrease your Merchant Rating after the first trade.
          • This resets at 7:00am PDT100.
        • The Daily Trade Good also multiplies your profit by 1.5x.
        • The Daily Trade Good changes every in-game day.
      • It is possible for your Merchant Rating to go down a level.
        • You may not trade to Byrun if your Merchant Rating is equal or less than what would be reduced.
          • The Beach of Scathach has no merchant rating and therefore their goods cannot be sold to Byrun.
      • Byrun only awards Ducats and Experience upon a successful trade.
    • Byrun's location as well as Daily Trade Good is notified by an scrolling message at the top center of the screen, but only for players who have chosen any Life Skill Talent.
      • The message is broadcasted at 7:00PM and 10:00PM in-game time.
        • The message will be overwritten by any event messages if they were to be broadcast at the same time.
          • Relogging or changing channels and letting the event messages play before Byrun's message may help fix this.
      • While it is listed under the Life Talents tab, Holy Arts is not applicable for this.
  • When Byrun appears, the commerce post shows how much he is willing to pay for an item, but is only displayed for players with a Life Skill Talent.
    • While it is listed under the Life Talents tab, Holy Arts is not applicable for this.
