Where one can find his/her first magic skill?--LastDark 08:26, 17 July 2008 (PDT)

Firebolt, Icebolt, Lightning Bolt, and Healing are the main magics. For the most part, go to Lassar at the school and buy the magic books from her (or take her magic classes and you will learn them). However, Icebolt you'll get for free after one of the beginner quests (kill 5 black wolves). --- Angevon 08:33, 17 July 2008 (PDT)

Advanced -> Intermediate?1421:38, 9 August 2013

Advanced -> Intermediate?

I'm wondering why people refer the typical "Advanced" Spells (Thunder, Fireball, Ice Spear) as "Intermediate".

I recall the Thunder Book labeled as "Electrical Magic for the Advanced."

Infodude57523:42, 12 September 2011

It's just been common language (among most of NA's servers) since Hail Storm came out.

Basic: Firebolt, Icebolt, Lightning Bolt, Healing, Blaze.
Intermediate: Fireball, Ice Spear, Thunder, Party Healing.
Advanced: Hail Storm

Enchant, Magic Shields, On-Off skills, and Passive skills being left out, of coarse. And they have been confirmed to be working on a Fire and Lightning advanced spell, or so I've heard. Might just be a rumor.

Wait until official Nexon statements for NA?

Aubog00700:09, 13 September 2011

I've seen blaze and party healing go under intermediate magic, but technically speaking advanced magic would ideologically be Ice Spear, Fireball, Thunder, and Hailstorm.

LexisMikaya05:19, 13 September 2011

I doubt Nexon will officially deem certain magic skills Intermediate or Advance. On another note, how is Blaze considered Intermediate magic?...

Pyro - (Talk)10:22, 13 September 2011

I dunno, since it does more damage than beginner magic, some of my friends call it int magic. lol

LexisMikaya12:32, 13 September 2011

I would consider it like this:

Basic: Icebolt, Firebolt, Lightning Bolt, Healing
Intermediate: Fusion Bolt
Advanced: Ice Spear, Fireball, Thunder, Blaze, Party Healing
Expert: Hailstorm

I don't think we should include the term. I mean, it isn't an official standing by Nexon, only a common language amongst the community. Heck, Strategy Guide for Ice Spear says:

Ice Spear is a sophisticated magic skill on par with Fireball and Thunder, and although it is a bit difficult to use, it possesses a tremendous amount of power.

—Strategy Guide

"Sophisticated", not "Intermediate", not "Advanced".

Way to bump a discussion from last year without really adding anything to it, but if you really want to continue it...the only real classification that exists in game and is clearly defined is the bolt spells. From there, you have a mix of contradicting terms, translated text, and the comments from other users.

You could just base it off of how you get the skills: you need the previous "tiers" at rF+.

bolt spells: There are no skill prerequisites for learning these skills.

IS, TH and FBall: In order to start any of the 3 skill quests, one prerequisite is that you need the 3 bolt spells at rF.

Hail (and the other 2 possible skills?): This only applies for hail since it's the only one released so far, but you need the previous "tiers" of ice spells at rF in order to start the skill quest. (ignoring ice shield since it's not part of this discussion)

Now throw in the Mabi difficulty ranking (basic, int, adv, HM) and you've got one possibility of how the above skills are classified.

It would probably be better if left any form of such categorization completely off the wiki.

One year later...

Hermit's Staff says "Intermediate Magic", so I guess its official now?

Infodude575 (talk)10:00, 9 August 2013

Magic Weapon Mastery also says Intermediate iirc, so these fan terms entered official terminology.

Pyro - (Talk)19:57, 9 August 2013

Either that or it was always intended at intermediate magic.

まそっぷ ! (talk)20:05, 9 August 2013

True but it was never said ingame until recently, so they have been unofficial names for something that is official, just not confirmed.

Pyro - (Talk)21:38, 9 August 2013

Probably...
