Description
This man looks tired and sloppy, unfitting of a proper knight. He doesn't look at you, but his mind appears to be occupied.
Caswyn is the captain of the Heruin Unit of the Alban Knights. He does not speak much, however he is known for being level-headed, humble, meticulous to detail, and for putting others before himself. He tends to go off and act on his own, much to Avelin's annoyance.
History
He is good friends with Pihne, having once shared the same unit with her.
Mainstream Story
Caswyn is initially found lying beside a tree near the farms in Taillteann. When the Milletian approaches him, he challenges them to a fight, stating that he cannot trust them since they are an outsider to the Alban Knights. As Caswyn and the Milletian battle, he asks them questions about the necklace, what they choose to live for, what aspect of their life they would choose to retain, and if they believe they are a god. Caswyn then stops attacking, ultimately deciding there is no point to fighting the Milletian. Choosing to trust them, Caswyn also states that fighting was his way of testing the Milletian prior to his return to the other knights.
Once Caswyn and the Milletian return to the others, Pihne scolds him when Avelin's words fail to reach him. Pihne remarks that Caswyn's actions were rude, selfish, and irresponsible before he apologizes. Afterwards, Talvish carries over the conversation to address the pressing matter at hand now that the four generals have reunited; tracking and defeating the Prophets. In addition to this, he asks Caswyn and Pihne for their thoughts on Altam being included in the mission. Caswyn, initially indifferent, states that he has no objections. The group is then given the name "Celestial Six" by Altam before heading to Cor Village.
In Cor Village, Pihne is able to gather intel and deduce that the Apostles will likely return by nightfall. Talvish suggests they all remain in the area until then. Afterwards, Caswyn points out that something is strange without specifying what. The Celestial Six then wait until midnight for the possible attack.
At midnight, Altam and Talvish split from the group to search for any Prophets in the area. Pihne, Avelin, Caswyn, and the Milletian are left to engage the Apostle, however their attacks are not effective against it. Caswyn points out that the damage from their attacks is being negated by the Apostle, however the knights' Divine Light is not affected. He further suggests that they all combine their Divine Light with their attacks in order to make progress. Even so, Caswyn decides to handle the Apostle himself. With the Apostle's defeat, Altam and Talvish return and the group takes a break.
Once the Milletian discovers the location where the Arthuan Shard is sealed through the use of the Elder's necklace, the Celestial Six head to Lunae Valley. There, Pihne points out that the altar is not present, prompting Caswyn to suggest for Avelin to use up all of her Divine Light. Avelin agrees and carries out the task, causing the altar to reveal itself. The Prophets also show up with the intent of stealing the Arthuan Shard. A brief fight occurs between the knights and the Reanimated corpses with Zebach before the Prophets escape.
Pihne searches the altar but is unable to find the Arthuan Shard, leaving her to guess that it has fallen into the Prophets' hands. The Celestial Six then discuss the strong probability of the Prophets intent to pass beyond the Avalon Gate and find the Elder's body. With this information, they decide on a plan to reclaim the Arthuan Shard from the Prophets and find the remaining three shards. The group subsequently splits to allow the Milletian, Avelin, and Caswyn to rest at the Hot Springs, while Pihne, Altam, and Talvish hunt for the Prophets.
At the Hot Springs, Caswyn and the Milletian set up a camp. While Avelin rests inside, Caswyn privately speaks to the Milletian about the Prophets' appearances at the Avalon Gate and the Arthuan's Altar. He asks them for their thoughts, then proposes the possibility of a traitor existing amongst the knights. Furthermore, he tells the Milletian that he wishes to keep the matter between the two of them. Caswyn states that some of Talvish's decisions do not make sense, and that upon investigating these decisions, they all "mysteriously solve themselves as if someone were covering them up." Suspecting Talvish as the traitor, Caswyn further tells the Milletian that he does not trust Talvish, despite not wanting to believe the possibility himself. Suddenly, Reanimated Corpses appear by the camp, prompting Caswyn and Milletian to fight them off.
Eventually, Pihne, Altam, and Talvish arrive at Hot Springs to report their lack of progress to the now rested camp group. Pihne and Caswyn then step aside and chat amongst themselves, to which Pihne expresses how much the Heruin Unit general has not changed. As she points out that Caswyn could use a decent set of armor, she is suddenly interrupted, asking Caswyn to wait for her. When he questions this, she momentarily retreats elsewhere.
The knights move out to seek the Heruin Shard at Port Ceann next. The group notices that Caswyn is missing, even when they move deeper into the beach. Caswyn eventually appears along with the altar. He secures the Heruin Shard and indicates that he modified the altar's security device into a trap, which successfully catches Brilluen and Pennar. Caswyn then taunts the Prophets, saying that he will hand over the Heruin Shard if they can step over to him and get it.
Unfortunately for the knights, Marcan appears with a more powerful version of Zebach. The Celestial Six and the Milletian are left to defeat it while the Prophets escape. At the conclusion of the battle, Pihne suggests that the new Apostles brought by the Prophets could be a sign of the Prophets' desperation to obtain the shards. Talvish then inquires about Caswyn's condition. Caswyn states that he is fine, causing Talvish to question his sincerity. Pihne indicates that Caswyn "never feels how he says he feels." She tells Caswyn that he can be honest with everyone, however Avelin berates him for his actions.
Eventually, the knights settle. Pihne asks Caswyn if he noticed anything peculiar at Heruin's Altar. He confirms her thoughts, saying that he saw an obscured person who did not speak to him but helped him lure the Prophets into the trap. Caswyn then deduces that the person was there to protect the altar before the knights decide to give more thought to the matter.
Soon, Altam questions the possibility of a traitor existing amongst the group. Pihne reassures him by stating that none of them would dare to work alongside the Prophets. Contrarily, Caswyn suggests to investigate Altam's theory anyway. This causes Talvish to urge the Celestial Six to think rationally. When the Milletian states that they are the traitor, the knights are thrown into disarray. However, Talvish indicates that this cannot be so; the Alban Knights would have known since there is constant surveillance on the Milletian.
When the Celestial Six have a moment of rest, Talvish inquires about Caswyn's health. Caswyn indicates that he is fine, causing Talvish to point out that Pihne thinks otherwise. Caswyn then insists on being left alone despite other's desire to help him. After Talvish requests for the Milletian's assistance in restraining Caswyn, Caswyn expresses that he believes Talvish is the traitor. When the other questions this, Caswyn states that he has evidence. Furthermore, he tells Talvish that he cannot figure out what kind of person Talvish is, thus he is guilty until proven innocent. Talvish questions the evidence mentioned by Caswyn, but upon receiving no answer, Talvish tells Caswyn that he still respects him and leaves.
Soon, Talvish asks the Milletian to cook for the knights, causing the others to share favorable opinions of the idea except for Avelin. Pihne then asks Caswyn what his thoughts on the matter are. Caswyn is initially indifferent. However, he agrees to the idea after being convinced by Pihne. The knights split into teams of two to gather ingredients. Talvish opts to fish at the hill while Caswyn simply rests on the ground nearby. Once all the ingredients are gathered, the group enjoy a meal cooked by the Milletian.
Following the meal, Caswyn tells the Milletian he finds the atmosphere uncomfortable. He claims that all of the knights believe there is a traitor, although they do not want to admit it. Caswyn then points out that the Elder's necklace is strange, as it can only be used by the Milletian, yet it offers vital information about the Alban Knights, including the locations of the altars. Caswyn questions whether the Milletian's discovery of the necklace was accidental. He further states that it seems too conveniently planned to have happened by chance, further indicating that Talvish may have played a hand in the matter. He then tells the Milletian that the Alban Knights trust them thanks to Talvish.
Afterwards, Pihne shares her thoughts with the Milletian as well, saying that she thinks Caswyn has started to warm up to them based on their repeated interactions. Caswyn denies her claim and the two go back and forth. Caswyn then states that he feels Pihne is hiding something. Pihne, taken aback, reassures him that she is fine. Caswyn then asks the Milletian to tell him about Pihne's condition, to which the Milletian pretends to clueless. Before Pihne retreats, Caswyn tells her to talk to him when she feels ready to do so.
Once the knights and the Milletian regroup, Altam suggests hiding the Heruin Shard in a place safe from the Prophets. However, they discover that the Prophets were already in the area, watching the group from the cliff. The Prophets disappear when the knights raise their guard. The knights question this, but soon find themselves caught in a trap set by the Prophets. The Black Wizard then appears with the Heruin Shard in his possession, taunting the group before he leaves.
The Celestial Six head for Blago Prairie to locate the Eiler Shard that was seen there in the memory. Upon arriving at the location, Pihne begins to feel unwell, but tells the others that she is fine. Caswyn asks if there is another way to open the altar besides using Divine Light. However, Pihne insists that she can do it. She then reveals the altar using her Divine Light, only to become exhausted afterwards. On the other hand, the knights notice that the chest where the Eiler Shard would be has already been tampered with. Much to the knights' surprise, the same Apostle from before appears. The group realizes that it has no choice but to fight it.
After the fight, Talvish revisits the idea of a traitor existing amongst them. Suddenly, Pihne becomes upset and disappears, causing Caswyn to disappears right after her. Talvish then asks the Milletian to search for Pihne and Caswyn while he and the others head for the Prophets in Belvast. He further tells the Milletian that a man resembling Caswyn was said to be spotted near Lake Calida.
Eventually, the Milletian catches Pihne and Caswyn south of Pera Volcano. There, Pihne stands close to the ledge of the volcano while Caswyn keeps a careful distance from her. Caswyn attempts to grab Pihne's attention, informing the Milletian that the voices in Pihne's head "have gotten so bad that they've completely removed her from reality." He then tells the Milletian that he believes Pihne's intent is to commit suicide. When the Milletian and Caswyn venture closer to Pihne, she reveals that all she ever wanted was to fit in and be normal, yet despite her efforts, she is turning into an Apostle. Caswyn once again attempts to reason with her, but to no avail. Pihne then says that by killing herself, she can prevent herself from turning. Another attempt by Caswyn to reason with her fails, with Pihne stating that she has become completely engulfed in the voices in her head. Before she is able to reveal something she has always wanted to say to Caswyn, she transforms into an Apostle.
Caswyn, set on saving Pihne, asks the Milletian to distract Pihne while he sets up the Emblems of the Alban Knights. However, Pihne is not returned to her typical state after being led to the Arthuan, Eiler, and Heruin Emblems. This causes Caswyn to despair. Suddenly, Brilluen appears, mocking Caswyn. She then thanks him for his work and leaves with the Apostle Pihne.
Afterwards, Caswyn laments the fact that Pihne has left, but realizes that he and the Milletian must return to the other knights in Belvast. In the Forest of Temptation, Caswyn confronts Talvish, saying that he knows Talvish is the spy for the Prophets. He then says that he does not trust Talvish and that he will be watching his every move. The two begin to fight, however the Milletian eventually stops them.
When the Milletian and Caswyn return to Avelin and Altam, Avelin asks them if Pihne was found. Avelin then questions Talvish's disappearance, however Caswyn does not give her a satisfactory answer. Avelin berates Caswyn, and upon agreeing with her, he takes his leave. Once the Milletian catches up with Caswyn, he reveals to them that Pihne never wanted anyone to see her weak side, and that he pretended to ignore what was wrong in order to not burden her further. He also tells the Milletian that Pihne fears opening up to others. He then laments the fact that he can't save her now since she has become an Apostle.
Eventually, Caswyn proposes the idea of using Pihne's Gem to save her. He indicates that the Milletian's link with the Elder makes them unique, further allowing them to be capable of helping Pihne. Caswyn then gives the Milletian the gem and together they prepare a cleansing ritual for Pihne. Through this, Pihne reveals her inner thoughts: her lamentations over her parents' deaths, the fact that she joined the Alban Knights hoping to receive forgiveness from Aton Cimeni, and how Caswyn stood out to her as an individual. As she reveals these thoughts, the Milletian and Caswyn visit memories from Pihne's past. Pihne then reveals that despite feeling comfortable around Caswyn, that comfort urged her to keep secrets from him. She feared that Caswyn would judge her for her past and abandon her if he discovered the truth about her. Caswyn then says that the Apostle has fused with Pihne, leading he and the Milletian to defeating it so that Pihne can return to normal.
After the ritual, Caswyn and the Milletian successfully manage to bring Pihne back. Caswyn then addresses the Milletian. However, in his struggle to express his gratitude, Pihne suddenly interrupts him. When Pihne begins to speak to Caswyn about the events he witnessed during the cleansing ritual, he tells her that it does not change how he feels about her. Furthermore, he tells her that she does not have to conceal herself, and that she can be honest her feelings since the voices are gone. Pihne, agreeing with Caswyn about being honest with her emotions, begins to once again reveal something that she wants him to know. However, Caswyn insists that it is not the right time to say it. Pihne, realizing that he does not want to be embarrassed while the Milletian is present, states that they should head back to Avalon Gate to meet with the others.
Soon, Caswyn appears in Lunae Valley to assist Talvish once it is discovered that the Milletian has been fooled by the Prophets. Together, Caswyn, Talvish and the Milletian defeat the Zebachs in the area while Brilluen and Pennar escape. In a brief moment of rest following the battle, Caswyn and Talvish make up. The group then heads back to Belvast.
When the Celestial Six reunite, Avelin inquires about what happened to Pihne when she disappeared. After some hesitation from both Pihne and Caswyn, Pihne tells the knights everything about herself, including her past and her time as an Apostle. Caswyn then indicates he is glad that Pihne is okay, surprising Pihne and Talvish with his smile. The knights ultimately settle on coming to a decision on Pihne's case at a later time, prioritizing the protection of the Avalon Gate.
Once the Celestial Six arrive at the Avalon Gate grounds, they find Reanimated Corpses within the area. The group soon finds all of the Prophets gathered outside of the gate as well. The Celestial Six then prepare for another battle against Zebach, this time in its final form. Unfortunately for the knights, Zebach overwhelms each of them, including Caswyn.
After Zebach is defeated by the Milletian, the Prophets manage to pass through the Avalon Gate using all the collected Alban Knights' Shards. The other knights besides Talvish soon wake up, allowing him to relay this information to them. He also points out that his efforts of combining the knights' Divine Light when the Prophets used the Sacred Mark caused the Prophets to become trapped beyond the gate. It is then decided that although the Celestial Six completed its mission, a new strategy must be devised.
Talvish then asks the others' well-being and if they wish to rest, prompting the others to do so. Caswyn decides to thank the Milletian, however in his struggle to do so, Pihne offers to speak for him. Caswyn refuses her offer, thanking the Milletian after some hesitation.
Soon, it is decided by Talvish that the Celestial Six must disband. In that moment, Caswyn expresses consideration for Avelin. Avelin returns the expression, however Pihne's surprise towards Caswyn's change of heart causes him to reconsider the action. Caswyn then tells the Milletian that he will not forget everything they have done for the knights.
TBA
Leader of the Alban Knights' Alban Heruin Unit, Caswyn. From a glance he doesn't seem to do much, but he carries out his leader's duty perfectly. TBA
The man you see looks tired, his appearance unkempt. The dignity one would expect of a knight is scarcely present in his mien. He pays you no mind, not even turning to acknowledge you, obviously preoccupied by some other thought.
