The large 'rock' in Shyllien
...Behind it? No, it is not. You can be by the the sides and stuff but not behind it o-o...
Seriously, so basically the large rock is actually useless since nowhere around it are you safe from getting attacked. & you get swarmed like crazy if you even get near it, & taking the enemies out wouldn't help as they are on a 5 second respawn timer.
If the mobs are left untouched for a large amount of time, it is possible to gather from there and the mobs will slowly despawn. Eventually the server will kick in additional mobs upon player presence.
Wait, so in general, monsters disappear if nobody is around? Then how are there ancient monsters? Somebody always being around but the monsters never being killed?
I've seen this happen in several instances. Spawn count lowers if no one is around. If someone starts killing, an increase in spawn occurs. Ancients appear from lingering mobs, so likely they've been sitting around for a while.
If you go to Hillwen and gather in one of the unguarded deposits, they will spawn shortly after gathering a bit.
So basically after a while the enemies around the rock will be low enough to harvest from the rock without getting attacked?
Nah, there's always tons there. Sometimes the monsters just don't even bother you, and you can just walk right up to the stone and start gathering. No idea what really causes it. Sometimes it just happens after getting myself killed enough times, sometimes I can just walk right up with no problems whatsoever, but summoning a pet like a bone dragon will make all the plants instant aggro you and destroy you for some reason. I find the sasquatches to be the most peaceful. After awhile though, plants and stuff will all aggro you at once.
That's not what I was talking about, but sure. I hear it's probably from having the same AI as ifrit and ifrit bugs out like that, too, or something like that. Not sure if it's from the AI, but I don't know what else it could be that only happens to those 2.
For many monsters, aggro is avoidable under certain conditions (if you stay in normal mode(not combat mode), succubi and regular wolves don't aggro, and Baol Infil monsters only single aggro; wisps aggro you slower if you're unarmed; iirc golems have a shorter aggro range if you walk instead of running; and Peaca ghosts don't seem to notice players using playdead if they don't talk or use pets.) There are probably similar tricks for the monsters guarding this stuff.
