New Second Puzzle Theory

I have a theory that I call the "timeline".

Basically, the order in the puzzle selects a certain reward pool, with different percentages.

In the excel chart, "Timeline" works as such:

The faces in order are given numbers 1-5.

The puzzle tells you the faces, for example. 54123

The order of the faces according to the puzzle is the "Timeline"

So 5 would be 1st in the timeline. 4 is 2nd, 1 is 3rd, etc.

So Timeline 1 means I completed the puzzle successfully, and then selected the first face in order.

Of note is that selecting timeline 1 seems to give a lot of 3x artifact and crystals.

Also of note is that selecting face 5 (Sleep) seems to give a lot of crystals.

But even though there are 100 samples here, the sample size for each situation is still kinda small.

Note, the right side of the excel chart is just the left side rearranged to look at the individual faces.

Here's a Google Drive link with the information and space for new information to be added, if anybody wants to contribute their data to testing this theory.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-N74eEHXNShKz6rT5QG7TLp8yJk82cV0j3aDZ_d9aIA/edit?usp=sharing

Sheets for each of the "Timelines" individually are at the bottom, percentages in the new sheets will update automatically.

Second Puzzle

In this room I've been hitting the face of the middle riddle getting from OK to Good results from chests. The experience from the coins was good too.

Omegaedgar01 (talk)17:56, 12 September 2014

Can anyone else confirm the suntouched items only drop between 6a and 6p?

Can't tell if it's coincidental or fact with my sample size.

Eos367 (talk)16:54, 14 September 2014

I didn't think to note the times but I'll keep this in mind when running them again.

Mystickskye (talk)03:42, 16 September 2014

Just got two, one at around 6:10pm and one at 3:00am ish.

Mystickskye (talk)04:58, 16 September 2014

I've been hitting the smile face (bottom left) today and I seem to be getting more suntouched items. I don't feel that I've tested enough to confirm whether or not it's just a coincidence though.

Hiwatari-kun (talk)18:44, 16 September 2014

Originally I thought it was a cipher, with each stanza corresponding to a number, 1 through 5, and those 1 through 5 indicating a reward type, and then you hit the face corresponding to the stanza of the reward you want.

That worked well enough on Monday, when I could get Shyllien reliably by doing #3, and stones by doing #5, but then Tuesday things shifted, and I thought it may be a rotating cipher, each ordinal value moving up one place per day ( Shyllien 3 on Monday, 4 on Tuesday) then it stopped altogether and I wondered if in game time (night) was the reason, because after 6 am I started recieving Shyllien again.

I also tried experimenting with the same ordinal concept and clock minute, but didn't find any correlation there.

So many variables to test.

Eos367 (talk)18:58, 16 September 2014

Im starting to think the rewards are random. I hit randomly making sure to not follow the sequence from the pillar and got more than 1 box a couple of times.

Omegaedgar01 (talk)22:58, 16 September 2014

It seems like a lot of effort on Devcat's part to make an extra room that implies it's a meaningful puzzle just to randomize the rewards anyway.

Not that it's impossible, just... odd.

Eos367 (talk)13:52, 17 September 2014

I haven't been able to find any patterns myself and on the JP wiki a user claims they got 3 artifact boxes even when doing it wrong...

I've yet to consistently attempt to do it wrong as of yet but I'm not making any progress in seeing how it works.

Mystickskye (talk)06:21, 17 September 2014

It's probably just a placebo.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)18:16, 17 September 2014

I've collected a small sample of data. Oddly, I never got 3 artifacts. Also, the data circled in red would seem to show the results are random, but my lack of getting 3 artifacts would seem to point otherwise. (I defined the data columns on the image's description page.)

The data in red seems to show the result is random.

QuazarGuy (talk)08:54, 4 December 2014

All my artifact data is useless. I didn't realize it dropped already stacked and I wasn't checking my inventory after picking up.

QuazarGuy (talk)07:16, 5 December 2014

Well, at least we know something about the rates of the other three things.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)16:18, 5 December 2014

  1. Can Demigod find Treasure Dungeons? EDIT: Nope.
  2. You get a Red Wings of the Goddess that warps you to your last visited town/iria landmark.
    • The dungeon has no exit door.
    • Would changing channels or relogging while in the dungeon take you back to where you were when you entered the dungeon? EDIT: Yes it does.
  3. "It will either take 8 seconds to excavate or instantly fail in which you can keep retrying unless it disappears."
    • I'd move this under a subbullet of "Treasure Dungeons can appear wherever Exploration could normally find an artifact.", because it seems kind of confusing on its own.
  4. "Anyone with the Treasure Hunter talent may enter."
    • I heard you can also enter someone else's dungeon? If so that should be mentioned.
  5. Missing link to L-Rod Exploration, Shadow Mission, and Tablet of the Sun Priest NPC.
  6. What's with the big spaces in the Puzzle section?
  7. The Gold Mask Ghost and Young Stone Masks don't spawn on their own; they're Summoned.
  8. Trivia
    • Inconsistent with "(Area) is considered part of Uladh for the Continent Warp interface, only allowing you to warp to either Belvast or Iria."
  9. Missing Category:Dungeons.

So, other than the questions I guess all that's left is to figure out the second puzzle and how the puzzles affect the rewards?

Infodude575 (talk)20:30, 15 September 2014

1: No
2: Logging/CCing takes you back to where you entered.
3: Agreed, will move.
4: It's implied with the original statement (being that if anyone with the treasure hunter talent may enter, it doesn't matter who finds it) but I'll work for clarification.
5: I'm not sure where you want the links or how you want them in. I don't think a Tablet of the Sun Priest NPC page/link is necessary being that its purpose is essentially described already in the article.
-Does having a shadow mission prevent entry?
6: Formatting preference? Some of them aren't needed.
7: Already known and mentioned in details section albeit I'd forgotten the standard for that in the monsters section. So that'll be fixed too.
8: Not really that inconsistent but I'll fix it anyway.
9: Will fix.

Mystickskye (talk)04:39, 16 September 2014

Lmao, Trivia says "(Area)" instead of Treasure Dungeon :P.

http://mabination.com/threads/74946-Mabinogi-Project-Dream-Treasure-Hunter-Update-%28Consolidated-and-Orginized%29

So, according to the above:

  • You need at least Rank 6 Exploration Mastery and/or Treasure Hunter as active talent to find a Treasure Dungeon.
    • Treasure dungeons shares its spots with any relic that can be found with L-Rod Exploration.
    • When you find one you get a prompt that asks if you want to unearth the treasure dungeon, otherwise you'll unearth the relic instead.
  • You can't go in while in a party, whether or not you're leading.
  • Other people can't go in your treasure dungeon.
  • Once you use the dungeon, it disappears.
  • The dungeon always appears as Longa Desert regardless of where you find it.
  • The dungeon consists of three rooms: two puzzles with five emotional faces and the boss.
    • The altar gives you some sort of "describe me" riddle and you have to hit the right statue related to it.
      • Hitting the right statue gives extra chests at the end of the dungeon.
      • It doesn't specifically say what happens when you get it wrong. I'm guessing you just fail the puzzle and you just move on.
    • Boss is a Stone Mask with higher damage and health, and can summon other Stone Masks and Ghost Masks.
Infodude575 (talk)22:00, 11 September 2014

I have not noticed extra chests, unless you mean hitting the right statue in the second room.

However I have noticed that when I do the first room "correctly" I get a box plus a suntouched material.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)13:36, 14 September 2014

I dunno, I just pulled it off from Mabination. I have yet to do the dungeon myself (though I don't have any access to it at the moment).

Infodude575 (talk)13:37, 14 September 2014

The "extra chests" may have to do with the specific Ancient Reward Chests you get at the end and not the reward chest you open on the ground to get the Ancient Reward Chests. However I've only ever found 1 or 3 and the JP wiki supposedly has someone saying that even though he did it wrong on purpose he still got 3 one time.

From personal experience whether I do the first room right or wrong doesn't seem to affect whether I get a suntouched item or the number of reward chests.

Mystickskye (talk)14:57, 14 September 2014

Small sample sizes. I haven't done enough "wrong" to see if I can still get suntouched though. If we can, and the other statements are taken true, then it seems the first room does not make much of a determination in the rewards. IF IT WERE ME, I would make the first room increase the number of "correct" faces in room 2 for a chance at better rewards.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)15:34, 14 September 2014

Well on my first attempt I had no idea what I was doing and got three Ancient Reward Chests and a Suntouched Stone Fragment. Regardless of sample size the probability that I got it correct is very slim so there's that to consider.

Mystickskye (talk)15:42, 14 September 2014

the probability you got it randomly right is 1/120, so definitely feasible.

  • Cannot be entered except by the person who found the dungeon

NPC: Tablet of the Sun Priest

Dialogue:

(The following is carved into the sun-dappled obelisk.) Three chambers will face you ahead. And in them you will find yourself. The first will test your sight and mind. When faced with orders, will you follow? The second will test your judgment. When faced with others, who will you choose? The third will test your resolve. When faced with consequences, will you falter? Once you enter, you can not leave. Prepare yourself, prepare your soul. And do not enter if you are afraid. Memorizing these words, for you shall only read them once. Let the feelings they invoke be your guide through the challenges ahead...

==== At this point I'd like to note that the text deviates to your own personal puzzle for the dungeon which is divided into 5 lines.

My hypothesis is that it's for the first puzzle for each face, but I'm unsure about the second puzzle.

You receive a Goddess Wing upon entering to the last mark/town you reached, it's your way out essentially.

I'll update as I get more info.
