does anyone else hate this generation?

it's so f'ing frustrating when you accidentally start this generation because for some weird reason characters at level 20 can start it and once you do, you can't back out. i just completed it and i ended up having a breakdown over the stupid protect eirawen battle.

KenRenzo (talk)17:07, 16 August 2021

Oh, just about everyone, as far as I can tell.

The whole Divine Knights arc (G19 - G21) is a disaster. Poorly explained quests with confusing requirements whose completion depends on the whims of fate, nothing but story beats recycled from earlier generations and given a new coat of paint, and tons of infuriating, time wasting filter "content" with a party half made up of obnoxious, unlikable characters that feel like cringy fanfiction self-inserts.

And then they've gone and made Divine Link (and thus G19 & 20) nearly mandatory for large portions of the new content.

PhoenyxStar (talk)01:58, 22 August 2021

I'm late with this considering the date of this thread's creation. However, it's not a good idea to start this Chapter at all when you're still early in the game, especially seeing as this Gen is already 19 in. No idea why it's handed to characters at such a low level, but that's the way it's been since as long as I started playing again (and I assume since it's been released).

Just don't attempt to fulfill any of the quests/objectives for the next Gen for now. Focus on developing your character and any other Gens preceding it, if you haven't already.

No Alban Knights Emblem?

The wiki says that when you finish you are supposed to get a Alban Knights Emblem and I never did? Is this broken?

Staelus (talk)21:40, 30 March 2016

I believe it's actually poor wording? I've also never gotten the Emblem except at the end of Alban Training once, I think it's supposed to say something similar to having unlocked the ability to own and use one?

Rarebank (talk)08:10, 31 March 2016

It's referring to the emblem in Emain Macha, the one that starts Girgashiy raid. G19 has nothing to do with the training camp as far as I'm aware.

realization is broken???

Altam and Avelin keep abandoning me in Realization! They just aren't on the map anymore at all after the cutscene after using shield of trust ends... I even tried running around on my horse to find them but nope, nowhere...

Neolain (talk)07:29, 27 January 2016

We need strategy guides for this.

I know it just came out three days ago but eveyone's advice is stupid and makes no sense. Like "ONLY USE DUAL SWORDS" and "YOU HAVE TO BE PRO LOL".

I need something that is Elf and Giant friendly. Not "HUUUMAN ONLY".

Please someone come up with legit strategies.

Randomfluffycow (talk)18:26, 13 December 2014

What part are you talking about? I don't remember anything in G19 mentioning dual swords, etc.

If you're talking about the various forms of Gilgamesh (most know him as Girgashiy), most forms simply drain your health, so you need to have health pots, demi-god, or some other way to recover it back. The other big move is Soul Absorption, and when he starts using that, you want to stay away from him and hit the shadows that appear until the boss falls.

Doomsday31415 (talk)10:23, 14 December 2014

I know, I just meant some legit strategies for other players.

I beat Girgashiy perfect form with a faulty plan that probably wouldn't work for others.

It's just there isn't much info for this on the wiki.

Randomfluffycow (talk)10:34, 14 December 2014

When you say "perfect form" are you referring to the one in Realization? I just updated the strategy for that one.

Doomsday31415 (talk)10:37, 14 December 2014

The way I did it was to die until he's at 25% hp where he will begin using soul absorption, then summon a pet, have said pet attack him while you spam the shadow that is summoned. Repeat the pet spam each time he uses soul absorption and eventually you'll kill him.

Lillysky (talk)12:15, 24 March 2015

  • Wild animal creatures: They simply have higher stats than the non-G19 counterparts.
  • Mineral crystal animals: They all have Advanced Heavy Stander, but behave no more different than their non-mutated counterparts.
  • Girgashiy #1: All it knows is Staff Swing, which is a 150 degree arc attack similar to Bran's Arm Swing. Just run behind it and you won't get hit.
  • Girgashiy #2: In addition to Staff Swing it has Holy Contagion, which poisons you for 5% HP per second. Pot, self-heal, whatever, or die.
  • Girgashiy #3: Has four new skills and is incredibly bulky, so obviously you'll have to pot a lot. It uses its skills at certain HP thresholds:
    • Staff Swing is always used.
    • Mineral Hail is always used every 40 seconds. Shield of Trust's damage reduction is 0%, but using it to shield from Mineral Hail will stun Girgashiy.
    • Holy Contagion is used when its HP is between 61~80%.
    • Holy Confinement is used when its HP is between 41~60%. This puts you in a crystal that damages and injures you, and you can break free by using pets.
    • Fanaticism is used when its HP is between 26~40%. Girgashiy teleports to you, grabs you, and smashes you for high damage. Pets and NPCs (if applicable) can hit Girgashiy enough to stop the attack.
    • Soul Absorption is used when its HP is between 0~25%. Girgashiy stabs itself, then a soul comes out of you and if it reaches Girgashiy you die instantly and it heals 2%. You can stun the soul for about 4 seconds by hitting it, but you can't kill it without invulnerable-ignoring attacks; Girgashiy will stop the attack if being attacked enough, so let the NPCs handle it. Simply put, stay away when its health goes to ~25%.

Plural of Girgashiy?

Girgashiys?

Girgashiies?

Girgashies?

Girgashiy?

Girgashoy?

...

Does the game use the plural form anywhere?

Doomsday31415 (talk)23:06, 23 December 2014

I think it's just Girgashiy. They said "the Girgashiy" so I'm guessing that's the plural. http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/view/Girgashiy_%28Raid%29

Meru (talk)23:37, 23 December 2014

Soul Absorption

...cast Soul Absorption on you which reduces your HP by 5% of your Maximum HP every second.

—Call of the Light

When the Girgashiy's HP is low, it will start using Soul Absorption. This will cause a shadow of you to appear and move toward the Girgashy. If your shadow reaches it, it will heal some damage and you will be knocked out instantly.

—Realization

These are two entirely different effects...

If I must stress this out again, the Girgashiy in Call of the Light does not use Soul Absorption, and it doesn't cut HP by 5% per second. That's Holy Contagion.

Infodude575 (talk)10:48, 23 December 2014
  1. Altam, Avelin, and Talvish's occupations are Alban Knight and Pennar, Brilluen, and Marcan are Prophet... Uh, organizations could count as occupations, right?
  2. Does no one give a damn about the Prophet NPC that appears in Tir Chonaill's square during Sense of Loss?
  3. In Continued Battle with the Girgashiy, is it 99.95% or 99.94%? A cutscene occurred with the latter in my case.
  4. "...cast Soul Absorption on you which reduces your HP by 5% of your Maximum HP every second." - Call of the Light
    • That's not what Soul Absorption does, nor does that Girgashiy have it. That's Holy Contagion, even the Status Effect says "Contagion".
  5. "The best time to use Judgment Blade is after the Girgashiy uses" - Answers from Above
    • ...? Uses what?
Infodude575 (talk)22:21, 12 December 2014
  1. :V I guess.
  2. Wait that NPC showed up there?
  3. Maybe it's like Macha.

2. Yes. The cutscene shows him preaching, then you can talk to him. All he says though is an extremely vague warning about G19 and then your character decides to ignore him regardless.

Infodude575 (talk)22:42, 12 December 2014

Oh, I ended up Cont Warping and got no cutscene.

Sakura502 (talk)09:55, 14 December 2014

4. A dialogue error? Unheard of!

5. After mineral hail; reading forums suggest that you should use shield before he jumps, spike once he lands, then blade after that.

Shroom Fonzerelli (talk)07:01, 13 December 2014

4. No... not dialogue error :/

5. Not sure if that's raid-only or not because the pair just murder me regardless if I shield or not.

Infodude575 (talk)12:15, 13 December 2014

Formatting?

Isn't the exact text from the actual quest supposed to be on the main bullets, with the sub bullets going into more detail?

I remember this discussion from before when some of the quest text was actually lying.

Doomsday31415 (talk)10:45, 13 December 2014

Girgashiy in Decisive Battle

I know that he can swing the staff (kind of windmill) and do something like poisoning (probably it's that Soul Absorption mentioned on the page) but I noticed also something like stomp, something similar to Crumena's Meteor (but can reach me everywhere), something that traps in a rock (similar to ice spear) and something that creates my doppelganger which is running toward Girgashiy and makes me die instantly despite full HP/MP/Stamina. Is there any way to prevent this or survive?

Sierramoon (talk)14:58, 12 December 2014

If you attack the soul it stops moving for a bit which gives you more time to decrease Girgashiy's meter to stop the attack. I positioned myself so that I'm hitting Girgashiy and the soul with splash damage. Worked every time.

Meru (talk)15:09, 12 December 2014

  • Staff Swing: Swings its staff in a 150 degree arc.
  • Holy Contagion: Drops a poison on you.
  • Holy Confinement: Puts you in a crystal that damages you. I think you can summon a pet and command it to attack the crystal?
  • Fanaticism: Girgashiy grabs you and smashes you for heavy damage. Girgashiy lets you go when its hit enough.
  • Soul Absorption: Girgashiy stabs itself and creates a shadow out of you, and if it reaches Girgashiy you die instantly. Damaging Girgashiy will stop the attack and you can stun the shadow.
  • Mineral Hail: Girgashiy jumps up and rains unavoidable crystals on you. Shield of Trust can nullify its damage.

I've only gotten to the second Girgashiy so I don't have any firsthand experience on the other four skills.

Infodude575 (talk)15:11, 12 December 2014

Holy Contagion is deadly if you have low HP TT-TT

Holy Confinement seems to only free you in place and Damaging you little by little but it seems that Girgashiy doesnt attack you while in there....not being able to use potions while trapped while Girgashiy is nearby waiting to attack as soon as you escape is bad feelings.

I havent gotten to Mineral Hail or Soul Absorption but I will wait till tomorrow to try it out once I get more free nao stones.

Dark10300 (talk)15:41, 12 December 2014

I kind of figured it out after looong time... but... I used 30 nao stones and still failed the mission. Maybe it's bad luck. I realised that when stopping the shadow only npc and pets could damage the Girgashiy and the shadow (I'm way too glitchy and laggy to let the shadow be near Girgashiy). The problem was when my npc stopped attacking and just waited for Girgashiy to die of old age :). The other problem was that when i died near Girgashiy just right after my revival he was using that Soul Absorption again and I didn't have a chance to escape or start fighting because the shadow was appearing too close to Girgashiy. Finaly every time I die he regains hp (about 5-6%). Anyway, thank you all for respond and advice.

Sierramoon (talk)16:05, 12 December 2014

Now I'm stuck on this part as well. Apparently, Girgashiy can attack my dead ragdoll body and that includes Soul Absorption, so he's indefinitely healing himself over my dead body and the NPCs are too weak to stop him. Shield of Trust literally does nothing as at Rank N it shields 0% damage from Mineral Hail.

... I finally beat it after keeping distance away with Tumble. e-e

On a related note:

...cast Soul Absorption on you which reduces your HP by 5% of your Maximum HP every second.

—Call of the Light

This is wrong. That's Holy Contagion, not Soul Absorption. The debuff applied even says "Contagion".

Infodude575 (talk)17:35, 12 December 2014

Isn't Shield of Trust Supposed to Dodge Girgashiy's Attack when used around the time it Attacks?

I know that after it helps you dodge the attack, you can still be attacked afterwards but other than that, it only blocks the first few seconds its cast...From my Understanding of the vids I've seen on youtube.

Dark10300 (talk)19:33, 12 December 2014

No. Shield of Trust just nullifies the damage of Mineral Hail. However, at Rank Novice that damage reduction is 0% which effectively does nothing.

Infodude575 (talk)19:36, 12 December 2014

I can Confirm this too as I just Exited from the Shadow Mission.

I barely got to 20% before it started using soul absorption and I exited as im not planning to scream again. My pets keep dying before I can use them to resurrect myself, but I found out(not sure if its a glitch)that running with a horse seemed to not let either the mining hail or the poison affect me....although, once I got close, it started affecting me but from a distance, it seems most attacks are dodgeable while riding a pet but I cant really confirm if its possible for others or me just being a bit laggy cause it.

Dark10300 (talk)05:13, 13 December 2014

Prerequisite?

Is there really no prerequisite, like completing G16? Also, I don't think a newbie can immediately jump into G19, since they can't immediately jump to G1.

Infodude575 (talk)11:10, 12 December 2014

You don't have to complete G16. I have no idea about any other possible pre-requisites.

kaede-kit (Talk)14:25, 12 December 2014

opps, misunderstood.

It doesnt seem like there is a pre-requisuite but im pretty sure for every new chapter, everyone is allowed to start on the first Generation Quest of that chapter.
