Use Defense against as many monsters as you can within the time limit. Destroying a monsters' own Defense results in a higher score. As the test rank increases, stronger monsters will appear and you will need a higher score to pass the test.

  • 500 points: Defend against an attack
  • 50 points: Defend with a Round Shield
  • 50 points: Defend with a Kite Shield
  • 500 points: Use Smash against an enemy using Defense

General Tips

  • On death, you will be automatically revived after a delay and lose 2000 points. For Dan 3 tests, this will likely make it impossible to pass the test.
  • Players commence with ten HP, MP, and Stamina 300 potions. These do not appear in your inventory until you click one of the buttons to start the test. Further potions drop from monsters.
  • The effect of the extra points awarded for defending with particular shields is that giants only earn 500 points for a successfaul defense, no matter which of their shields is chosen, while elves and humans effectively earn 550 points, no matter which of their shields is chosen. Hence you should likely chose the shield with the better defence.
  • Points for a successful defense are earned by defending a basic melee attack, a bolt attack and a basic archery attack. While having defense loaded reduces damage received from other enemy attacks such as smash and the gargoyle's stomp, doing so does not earn any advancement test points
  • To earn points by Smashing through enemy Defenses:
    • Use counterattack to prompt the enemy to use defense.
    • Windmill the Black Snakes, as they will not multi-aggro, but instead load defense.
