They took out the sliding and the forced walking part, so you'd might wanna edit that out whenever.

Just some comments

First off, nice guide. You wrote most of the basic things.

I've had good experiences with lance, as well as research so I will put some comments here.

You should note that, as a weapon in general, because of the walking after normal combo, lance is NOT meant for normal combos, or any strategies that require normal combos (i.e. Combo+Icebolt). It's meant for one KO (or close to) skills, like Smash, Windmill, Lance Charge (speaking of which, it's probably nice if you put down the fact that at rank 1, the skill does 250% damage as well as the 2.0 maximum damage multiplier, essentially making the skill do as much as rank 1 smash).

Also, try to emphasize the importance of piercing level. In your guide, you noted that some two-handed swords can outclass lances, which is true assuming that the Knight Lance does not have any enchants. With Secret Penetrating Knight Lance, the lance WILL outclass any other two-handed weapon in game (except Brionac o.o), especially in dungeons like Alby Advanced, where fair amount of mobs have 50% or more protection.

Also note that lance is NOT meant as a beginner weapon. Like it already says, lance has low balance of its own, but still impressive critical rating. All three lances need 200+ dexterity for players, sadly... There's a reason why lance charge takes tremendous amount of APs, and lance skills are not the most ideal to rank up in the beginning. I suggest you write some sort of warrior guide as well, which I can help a lot with.

Try giving a list of good enchants for lances. Personally, I would go for Secret and Penetrating, but people have preferences...

And looking at the guide's title "Lancemanship 101", you should also have a detailed guide of other equipments build-up.

For me, I would go two ways: 10/10 Thames Set (Conceptual Friend OR Otter OR Avenger Thames Armor, Round Bandit Thames Helm, Expansive Ecstasy OR Elegant OR Dignified Thames Gauntlets, Fleet Viscount Thames Boots). If charge enhancement applies to lance charge as well (which I have no clue about), then I would get 3/3 Birnam Helm, 4/4 Birnam Gauntlets, 3/3 Birnam Boots with the same enchants mentioned, as well as any other passive defense heavy armor with the same enchants mentioned. You could go for more damage through accessories, but I would not recommend it because of immobility of lances.

Other than that, it's still a pretty straight forward guide, which is good. You still convey message about usefulness of lances c:

Anyways, have fun writing more guides o3o

@@ it's an intro guide of sorts and not exactly an in-depth one xD. I do appreciate the feedback. Probably won't write another one for a while though.

purpose of this guide was to introduce them into lance combat as a whole and a decent overview. xD I also had the mindset that at the time, people who are new the game would be of average to low wealth. They also would have to have basic knowledge of the game as long as being able to play with little difficulties after knowing the basics and getting used to how Mabinogi is played. Lances already outclass two handed weapons thanks to the piercing effects. I have seen people use a lance as a beginner weapon hoping to be a lancer of sorts during the making of this guide when they were fairly new to the game.

As far as gear, if the person/people who saw this guide actually took Lancemanship seriously, I'm sure they would have done extensive research on enchants and/or gear specialized for Lances and related stats/skills. Though at one point I did consider an in-depth guide, I guess i just lost interest in lances...still fun though x3

Too bad lance is overlooked... :c

I guess it's often because humans dual wielding usually pulls off more damage than lances. But I still use 8 piercing level knight lance on giant o.o

But people should use lances more in general :/

Lance Advantages/Disadvantages

Apparently, you forgot putting that Lances have extremely high Crit Rate and poor Balance.
I know this because I am a Lance Master. My Upgraded Physis Wooden Lance gives me 83.9% Crit and 39% Balance.

I don't have the right to put this down since I do not have permission to do that.
I do, however, enjoy the worksmanship of this guide~

Yeah...this guide is a little more extensive than my alchemy guide. It's still a work in progress and I think i stated on my main user page that anyone is welcome to edit it o.o; ehh either way I'll put it up on the list. I'm not really a lance master and most of this information comes from watching my brother using his knight lance in dungeons. so it's basically based on my observations while dungeoning with him. I do have some experience with lances though.

Haven't you tried a Lance yourself? Being explained or visualized is far different than doing it yourself.

Infodude57500:00, 7 October 2011

Yes I have. In fact, i'm making this guide as I go. I've been using it for what seems like...2 months? and after sparring with my brother with his "god forsaken lance" serveral times, he taught me a lot in the 2 months I used it. he's been using the lance since it's implementation in NA.

-shudders- Siege Penetrating Knight Lance...that thing is killer with +3 pierce lvs on the Lv4 piercing it has after upgrades...e-e...

So basically your bro is dominating the world of Erinn with his Lance... Haha...
Just wonder if he brings up an Army of Lancers and begins taking over~

Enough joking. Coming from a Lance Master, you'd better take caution of the drawbacks of a Lance. You wouldn't believe how pissed I was when I found out how Instinctive Reaction ridiculously intercepts Lances.
