Intro

DPS (Damage Per Second) is a measurement of how much damage an average player can do per second over time in real scenarios.

If you'd like to see theoretical/engine speed caps instead, see User:Rydian/Speed.

  • This page records the raw DPS of a skill, ignoring other factors.
    • Other factors like stun/knockdown can play a big part in combat. This is not a combat guide.
      • All skills are used repeatedly with nothing else in-between activations.
        • Most skills would not be used like this in actual combat. This is not a combat guide.
    • All skills are assumed to be rank 1.
  • Percent DPS (%DPS) is a multiplier of your base damage (with different combat styles using different stats).
    • Just because one skill has higher %DPS than another doesn't mean it'll do more damage for you.
      • For example 200% DPS with a melee skill using 500 Strength will do far more than 500% DPS on a ranged skill using 50 Dexterity.

Test Methods

  • Tests here were done live from the east coast of the US (the game servers are on the west coast).
  • Tanky Barrier Spikes (such as in Provocation and Saga I Episode 7) are the preferred target for testing %DPS.
    • They don't retaliate.
    • Girgashiy can be used as a target with Advanced Heavy Stander otherwise.
  • Each skill or attack type was fired off repeatedly against spikes while being recorded, then the average cycle speed was measured.
    • Recordings were done at 60 FPS.
    • A cycle is defined as the time between the frame that damage appears starting the attack, and the frame before the next damage appears at the start of the next attack.

      • Each cycle was measured multiple times for an average, discarding obvious anomalies due to lag spikes.
      • For dual-wielding and dual guns a cycle is a set of attacks, not a single damage instance.
  • The %damage of a skill divided by the speed of a cycle (in seconds) gets us the DPS of the skill.
