Spawn Patterns

Zone 1 is unusual in that the sole trapped chest room only ever spawns one wave of mobs. In all other zones, the one wave spawn patterns are just the 3rd wave of the possible three wave spawn patterns.

Structures

Here is the list of structures I have encountered Alby Basic.

Room block codes are listed at User:Librarian/How_Dungeons_Are_Generated#Room Blocks

Zone 1

Zone 1 always uses room block 201.

It is always 2 rooms long.

Zone 2

Rooms: 3 to 6

I have encountered the following melds of room blocks in zone 2.

  • 301 (Rare)
  • 302 (Rare)
  • 303 (Rare)
  • 101, 221
  • 101, 241 (Rare)
  • 221, 221
  • 221, 231
  • 221, 241
  • 101, 221, 221
  • 101, 221, 241 (Rare)
  • 221, 221, 221
  • 221, 221, 231 (Rare)

When I started this analysis, I wasn't expecting there to be so many different melds. Why would developers code so many different zone structures? In particular, why would they bother listing the 6 melds marked as rare? Those melds were found only one or two times in 55 runs of the dungeon. That is, they occur so rarely that omitting them entirely would make very little change to the game experience.

Since doing the above analysis I have found other zones which have far fewer melds, so perhaps the zone 2 here is an outlier.

Zone 3

Rooms: 2 to 5

Melds encountered in zone 3.

  • 222
  • 111, 221
  • 111, 222
  • 221, 222
  • 111, 111, 221 (Rare)
  • 111, 221, 221 (Rare)

All melds contain at least 1 herb room, via block 111 or block 222. That is, in any run of Alby Basic you always encounter at least one herb room.

The melds marked rare were seen only 1 or 2 times in 55 runs. Again, why bother including a meld that occurs so rarely?

Zone 4

Rooms: 2

Zone 4 always contains only 1 room block selected from the following 3 room blocks.

  • 221
  • 231
  • 241

While no block can be described as rare, block 221 is significantly more common than the other two blocks.
