Master Title

Master Title

Currently, scrolls that have a grade above Rank 4 cannot be composed; to reach the higher ranks, the player must constantly play default music to get normal successes.

Does that mean the master title is unattainable? Assuming the scrolls given in order to complete Barry's PTJ don't apply?

I've seen 3 people in Alexina have "Master Instrumentalist." Before we have today's autoplay, everyone used an auto-clicker/macro to afk play their instrument for...days if not weeks on end. It is indeed possible with default music but with the recent scrolls, I think it'd be easier to attain. Not unattainable, but more rather long and "hard" work. x.x...Only rank 7 on my bard and gave up the afk play idea.

So you CAN get great successes with default music? Because I was told the difficulty of default music is also Musical Knowledge-dependent and the quote seems to imply you can't get great successes with default music in such a situation.

you can. It's rather low, but it's possible. I'm not sure if I'm taking into account the person's knowledge rank. I know it is possible to get great successes with defaults.

This is what's conflicting me, I was under the impression that not only scrolls you compose but default music you play is equivalent to your Musical Knowledge rank, and that you can only get great successes when your Musical Knowledge rank is equal to or higher than your Playing Instrument rank. (And Musical Knowledge being capped at r4 will prevent you from getting great successes if your Playing Instrument rank is 3 or higher.)

I wouldn't know how the three people I saw had master instrumentalist. 2 of the 3 were before homesteads were implemented. one was after. Maybe they found a work around, or perhaps default spamming actually did something beyond the rank of knowledge? :x

You make it sound like they reached a form of enlightenment. XD But either way, before we officially edit the page, we should test this? (Before G16S2 because Musical gets uncapped by then.) Although I'm probably not going to continue training music skills soon.

Pyro - (Talk)23:19, 23 April 2012

Ehh...I'm not touching music until I get funds for skill books for Music related skills for my dead bard...may end up waiting til G16s2, but probably won't be around for that long. I guess this sounds like something worth doing, but that amount of time is something I don't have. *lacking patience for some reason nowadays*

umm I'm not sure if this will help but each song in score.xml has a difficulty attribute of course that doesn't necessarily mean anything Pyro's theory could easily be valid.
Also you may want to consider checking out Playing_Instrument/Default_Song_List which has the difficulties mapped to ranks and their appears to be a fair few songs which are r1...

Laden23:26, 23 April 2012

Hmm, some of those default songs are r1 so that would explain that... That would mean you really can get great successes at r1.

Pyro - (Talk)23:38, 23 April 2012

hmm my farfetched theory was actually true...problem is are these songs accessible after reaching a playing rank, or is that where knowledge comes into play and the character just knows the song by heart after reaching said rank?

☽ミ☆カ☆ヤ☾23:42, 23 April 2012

hmm its really hard to say the bottom line is I just don't know I guess if i ever stopped being lazy for a day i could get on a mule character with rank F playing and rank F musical knowledge and see if i ever play a rank 1 song.
although even if it is possible to play r1 songs with rF skills there is still the possibility that ranking those skill increases your chance of playing a higher difficulty song.
sorry i can't give you a conclusive answer.
