"Intricate Work"?

So, I brought my Pierrot to Huw because it'd been damaged in the dungeon (though through what I thought to be a graphical glitch initially, it had somehow recovered full health after being resummoned) and Huw told me "It looks fine. If you want me to do some more intricate work, it'll be 100 gold." Anyone know what this is? Maybe Huw grants minor bonuses like Leader blessings?

It does absolutely nothing. All you do is waste an extra 100g for touch-up work.

It's even in Japan and Korea (at least last I checked back in November...) for some reason. I haven't found any changes.
