Talk:Fire Shield

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Correction?

Those outside the barrier will be protected by shield, as the spell must pass through the shield to reach them moving the opposite direction.

I dont actually think this is true. I was PvPing my friend on elf vs giant, he was standing behind (not inside) a natural shield and my arrow hit him directly (not the shield). So on a theory that specific shields aren't granted with an unfair ability to block it's assigned attack wether or not the target is standing in or behind it... Er... this statement could be false for fire shields? So can anyone with a fire shield clarify wether or not the target is protected if it just stands behind a shield, not in it... --Ashe 09:34, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
That statement confused me too. Upon closer inspection, it says "If the enemy is already located within the barrier when it uses an fire spell, the attack will not be affected by the shield. Those outside the barrier will be protected by shield, as the spell must pass through the shield to reach them moving the opposite direction. "What it's supposed to say is "Those enemies outside the barrier who attack with the corresponding element will have their attacks be defended by the shield, as the spell must pass through the shield to reach them moving the opposite direction." It says that on all of the magic shield pages. The training requirements also seem to be off on all the magic shield pages because that looks nothing like the requirements I had to complete for training. I'd change it but this is actually my first time doing anything wiki related so I dont want mess anything up. --Jaydarxus 02:42, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
As i read it, since the above mentions that if the enemy is inside the shield it can hit people inside the shield (the magic/arrow doesnt actually pass through the barrier since it starts inside), if the enemy is INSIDE the barrier and the target is outside, it will block the attack just as it would if a player inside the barrier was trying to attack an enemy outside with the same element as the shield --Albeir 12:00, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

The pvp opponent was hit with an arrow because magic fire shield protects against MAGIC FIRE attacks...a regular arrow wouldn't be blocked.--Demaetri 20:15, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

How much AP does it cost to learn maic shield? My friend said four each, but I don't know.--Deathslash37 13:50, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Have you tried reading the wiki pages? They already have the AP costs listed for each shield and none of them cost 4 ap to learn--Jaydarxus 19:56, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Self-Destruct

Fire Shield indeed does block Self-Destruct. Tested it today. Wife casted up the shield, a skeleton squad exploded outside of it, and I took severely reduced damage while under it.--Demaetri 04:16, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Fireball

Will the "Fire Shield" spell block some/all of the damage from the fireball spell from the "Gaint Fire Sprite" in Coill Dungeon —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yumri (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

No--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 18:38, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Out of curiosity: The page does say that the shield does reduce damage from fireballs. The fireball skill listed for the Giant Fire Sprite seems to be the same as for all the other monsters that use it. What makes the Giant Fire Sprite fireball different? --Hecate 22:28, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Theoretically speaking, it should be effective against the Giant Fire Sprite, simply because the Fireball skill from it would be a standard fireball (per when Coill was first released, when there was only the standard Fireball) and not a Dragon Fireball. A way to test is to make the sprite angry enough to fire a fireball at you when you're wearing fire elemental gear in all 9 slots. If it does 1 damage, it's blockable by the Fire shield. --Ashsaber 04:13, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Fireballs and Fireshield...

WOuldn't it fail if the fireball lands inside the shield?

まそっぷ ! (talk)22:19, 1 September 2013

I thought as long as it passes through the shield, it's shielded? I mean. Bolts & other magics pass through it in order to hit, they're just weakened when passing through, yes?

Guess not. Went into the finale and got pelted by about 6 fireballs at once....it kinda hurt considering I used beserk...LOL...

Fire Arrows

This does not protect against fire arrows, correct?
