About Aer's Race
If the game does not refer to her as a Siren, then do not add it. --KaedeKit 21:45, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Look at this. - A Random User 21:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't particularly care about that. Don't add information we cannot find in the game. --KaedeKit 21:48, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Fine, I'll make her "Unidentified". - A Random User 21:50, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'll cite what's on my user page:

- Please keep any work on any pages based on verifiable in-game facts. The regular articles are not a place to make editorial remarks on the subjects they discuss.
- (Emphasis mine.) Those words are the most important part of what you're working on. Everything on this wiki must be verifiable factually in-game, whether via story bits or via any stats you get. Anything else, including what you think she is, does not belong here. That falls under the column of "editorializing", which does not belong in any article in here. It is just that simple.
- Also, just an FYI, I do not tolerate editing wars here. Given the known contestants, you should already know who will win. --Irjustman 04:13, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just in case anyone is taking this seriously, Mabinogi is based on a myth. How devCat and Nexon choose to interpret that myth, add parts from other myths, add total rubbish or do whatever they want is up to them. Being an "expert" on myths is of no use, as you can't use your expertise to read their minds. If Nexon NA has not stated outright that a particular specimen belongs to certain species/race, then your personal choice is immaterial (they have stated outright that Aer is a water spirit and have not stated that she is a siren or unknown). Hints in the storyline are not worth anything as Nexon changes it as they please. Also, if you are an expert then provide your real name, list of academic or research qualifications, list of known published or accepted works on the subject, a creditable list of resumes, etc, so that others may verify your claims. Otherwise your claim to being an "expert" is all just hot air. =P --ZRoc (Talk) 17:52, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Note that Aer's description says "she is an elf whose body is so slender that she actually seems as if she could slip through the cracks of my hand" (not your normal description of an Elf) however her reply to the keyword "Private Story" is "I am...only the Spirit of Water..." and a random reply (to something she doesn't have a specific answer for) is "I'm just a spirit... I don't know about...". Whether a Water Sprit (or Spirit of Water) is a different species of the Elf family or Nexon messed up her description (mistranslation of spirit/faery/sprite to elf), it doesn't matter. If she is another species of the Elf family then she is still correctly identified as a water spirit. I would be offended if you called me a Great Ape (Hominida family) rather than a Human (Homo sapien) but both are correct. However, Human (Homo sapien) is our specific species and properly identifies us. If Aer has been transmuted/transformed, then she is the species that she has been transmuted/transformed into, i.e., a Water Spirit. I sure as heck don't make the mistake of thinking a zombie is still human, not if I want to live for very long. If Nexon made a mistake then I think it is in her description as an elf because of her appearance, dependence on water and her replies to keywords. Also, a water spirit is NOT an occupation (and although I'm not an expert) spirits tend to be... spirits, but definitely not by making a career choice. --ZRoc (Talk) 19:05, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- Not to pick too many nits, ZRoc, but don't you mean "credible" rather than "creditable" above? But you are right, though. In order to be considered an "expert", one must have da credz. --Irjustman 04:48, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

If a person was an expert on mythology, they'd also know Sirens are Greek, and the correct term would be a Rusalka. :P--Puddles 20:16, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Someone has jumped to conclusions | 8 | 00:23, 11 October 2013 |
Nowhere in G18 The Saga: Iria is it "disproven" that Aer is not related to Macha. All we know is that Macha appeared in Renes and there is plenty of reason to not find this conclusive evidence that Aer is not Macha.
As I said, Aer could just be a biproduct of Macha and not directly be Macha or they might both be Macha, or the Macha in the saga not be the real Macha. Though, this crosses into the field of speculation and they're apparently still deciding on the role of that if it should be included at all. Though, I don't think that subbullet should currently be there. Until conflict is resolved, we should only go with what we can prove. Like, saying Cessair was knocked back then Macha appeared, avoiding using definites like Cessair turned into Macha, or Cessair isn't Macha. For all we know Cessair did turn into Macha, just abandoned her previous body. Or Cessair didn't turn to macha, she just got injured and it's a coincidence Macha looks like Cessair.
Calm yourself, woman! You're not going to turn into the possessed Lugh!
Its unfortunate, but the Mainstream Story (mostly Chapter 3 and Saga) gives more questions than definite answers; I wish DevCAT was more clear on the matter. Those stupid cutscene glitches make it hard for us to determine if Heart was actually supposed to be there or not.
Take the KR cutscene files, mod the NA ones into them, then record what the cutscenes says and find a translator (cutscenes are client-sided, NPC script outside of cutscenes are server-sided).
If you're going to do that, you might as well just extract the text in the cutscene and just translate them directly rather than transcribe the cutscenes.
