Act 1 Scene 2
Gertrude is introduced alongside with Laertes, Polonius, Claudius, Hamlet, Ophelia, and Fortinbras. Hamlet mentions to Ophelia how Claudius could have married his mother yet a month has not passed.
Act 2 Scene 2
Gertrude and Claudius welcome Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to Denmark. After the two have left, Polonius rushes in to inform the King and Queen of Hamlet's 'madness'.
Act 3 Scene 1
Gertrude attends Hamlet's play The Murder of Gonzago.
Act 3 Scene 3
Gertrude summons Hamlet to her room, questioning her son about the play. The Queen then witnesses Hamlet killing Polonius.
Act 4 Scene 2
After Claudius appeases Laertes in his plans of vengeance, Gertrude, in tears, announces to them that Ophelia has drowned, leaving Laertes in tears.
Act 4 Scene 3
Gertrude, Claudius, and Laertes walk over to Ophelia's grave. When Ophelia is mentioned, Hamlet rushes in. This causes Laertes to threaten him with his blade, but Gertrude requests to spare him.
Act 5 Scene 2
After Hamlet refuses poisoned wine given by Claudius, Gertrude drinks it in his stead for good fortune. Claudius, who just noticed his wife attempting to drink the wine, advises her not to, but it is too late for she has already taken a sip. Simultaneously, Laertes is sliced as Gertrude falls. Claudius tries to appease the crowd by saying that the Queen fainted at the sight of the fencers bleeding, but Gertrude denies and announces that she has been poisoned, and dies shortly.
The announcement has led spectators rushing off stage. Hamlet, enraged, kills Claudius, avenging his mother.
