Use Healing to help allies as many times as possible within the time limit. Finishing the battle faster results in a higher score. As the test rank increases, stronger monsters will appear and you will need a higher score to pass the test.

General Tips

  • Some of your Magic and Close Combat ranks will carry over into the test, so having higher ranks would be useful.
    • Magic Mastery rank transfers inside the test and gives a little extra mana. This is vital since no MP potions drop inside the test and skills like Meditation or Inspiration aren't available.
  • The test will begin with your ally and enemy spawned; they will automatically start combat.
    • Letting the ally die will deduct 1000 points, subject to a minimum score of zero.
      • The ally will revive, but only after a 5-second period.
    • Hitting the enemy at all will deduct 3000 points, subject to a minimum score of zero.
      • If the enemy dies, it will respawn immediately.
      • If the enemy does not die, it will regain its full HP.
  • Points are based on the the number of heals, not on the healing amount, so the aim is to minimise the amount of health points gained per healing attempt. Hence the most important strategy is to switch weapons from Healing Wand to bare hands.
  • A critical hit by the enemy can reduce the ally's health points from 60% to 0. The penalty for allowing the ally to die is large compared to the bonus points from healing when its health is below 20%.
  • The best strategy seems to be to heal the ally as soon as its health falls below 80%.
    • On the Dan 3 test, it is possible to complete the mission without ever actively seeking the bonus points for healing when health is below 20%, but it is relatively difficult to manage.

  • While your ally is under 80% HP, the prompt "Ally needs help!" may appear. You will then have a 3 second countdown where you will have to heal your ally.
    • Successfully healing your ally empowers the ally.
    • Failing at healing your ally empowers the enemy.
    • It is recommended to not keep your ally at full health to initiate this event, as it is vital in ensuring your ally defeats their enemy.
      • If you find that your ally is defeating the enemy too quickly to score enough points, you should instead prevent your ally from falling lower than 80.0% HP.

  • Players can use Ctrl+Left Click to target their ally with Healing so long as their health is not at 100%.
    • If you keep the Ctrl key continuously pressed after acquiring your target, you will not lose the target.
    • Doing this makes the hotkeys inactive, so you cannot use the the hotkey to recharge healing, but you can still recharge healing by clicking its icon.

  • Occasionally, Friendly NPCs will spawn in around your ally.
    • These Friendly NPCs will not directly help in the fight, and are actually there to make it difficult to find your ally.
    • Your ally will be colored differently than the summoned friends; use this to your advantage.
    • Friendly NPCs will continue to spawn throughout the fight, eventually filling the room with NPCs.
    • It is possible for Friendly NPCs to spawn without full health, complicating the use of Ctrl+Left Click to heal your ally.

  • You may adjust your Ctrl targeting Options through the Options Menu > Game > Control > Ctrl-Key Target system.
    • Using the Mouse Cursor option is advised, as it is easier to find and target the ally with it.

  • Players can disable names and chat using Ctrl+N to improve visibility of the NPCs.
  • The test relies on RNG for the AI attack patterns. Sometimes, particularly on Dan 3, you will fail because the enemy and ally spend too long circling each other rather than fighting. Just be patient and retry the mission.
    • Selecting SS grade for the Dan 3 test is advised to avoid wasting tries on successful S-rank Dans.
