Generation 17

The Classic Update

Update Promotion - The Classic Update - October 26, 2012

  • Mabinogi Grandmaster and Bound in Destiny: Puppeteer have been released.
  • Talent:
    • Essentially a replacement of Destiny.
    • Talents are divided into 16 categories: Adventure, Close Combat, Magic, Archery, Mercantile, Battle Alchemy, Martial Arts, Music, Lance Combat, Holy Arts, Transmutation, Cooking, Smithing, Tailoring, Medicine, and Carpentry.
    • New characters and characters during rebirth can select a talent. Existing characters before the implementation of talents can choose a talent upon log-in.
    • In addition to 2x training and base, leveling, and aging bonuses, talents contribute to a permanent stat boost when ranked regardless of chosen talent.
    • Skill ranks related to that talent will also contribute to the level of the talent, which affects the stats provided, talent icon, and prefix title. There are a total of 16 talent levels.
    • You can access the Talent Window from the bottom Talent Button (the Celtic Knot symbol) in the User Interface.
    • You can change the Talent Title once per day.
    • There are special hidden talent titles that can be unlocked when you reach a certain level in multiple talents.
  • North America Exclusive:
    • The gender restrictions on Marriage have been lifted and you may now change gender during Rebirth even if married.

Generation 17 Shamala Update

  • New Hybrid Talent Titles:
    • Researcher: Requires level 6 Magic, Transmutation, and Medicine Talents.
    • Trapper: Requires level 6 Archery, Tailoring, and Carpentry Talents.

Generation 17 Feature Update

Feature Update - April 23, 2013

  • Mainstream Quest Adjustment: Update Promotion.
    • Several mainstream quests now receive additional rewards upon completion.
      • Players who have completed the generations beforehand will receive quests to speak to Duncan to receive the missing additional rewards.
      • G3, G13, and G15 each give 40 AP totaling to 120 AP.
      • G14 and G16 each give a permanent +3 to the Str, Int, Dex, Will, and Luck stats, totaling to +6 each.
    • Generations 9 through 16's have been renewed.
      • Shadow Mission and Theatre Mission difficulties are fixed at either Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced.
      • Experience rewards from these Missions have been drastically lowered.
    • You may choose to start some mainstream quests further in a Chapter than one before. For example, you can start Generation 10 before Generation 9.
      • However, you cannot start every mainstream first, such as Generation 12 before 10.
      • There is also a certain total level requirement when selecting certain generations.
  • Other:
    • The Music Buff Duration stat was changed from a percentage to a whole number.
    • Production UI Updated.
      • Can now make up to 20 items at a time.
      • Auto-add materials function added.

Generation 17 The Saga Iria Update

Update Promotion - The Saga Iria Update - June 26, 2013

  • Iria Raid:
    • New quest system that provides experience, gold, and items based on player's contribution.
    • Giant Alligator, Giant Lion, Giant Sandworm, Mammoth, Yeti, Ifrit, Prairie Dragon, Desert Dragon, and Red Dragon have been converted to Iria Raids.
      • Gold and item rewards are now directly sent to your inventory instead of dropped at your feet upon the boss's death.
      • Spawn times have been readjusted.
      • Fomor Command Scrolls for these bosses have been removed.
      • Announcement of appearance and defeat for these bosses has been removed.
      • Normal Experience for these bosses is now equally shared amongst contributing players.
      • Pets and Partners can no longer be summoned in the vicinity of an Iria Raid. They will also be forcibly desummoned when approaching one.
      • These bosses' HP has been drastically increased.
        • Giant Alligator: 120,000 -> 500,000
        • Giant Lion: 150,000 -> 500,000
        • Giant Lioness: 5,000 -> 120,000
        • Giant Sandworm: 100,000 -> 300,000
        • Mammoth: 50,000 -> 120,000
        • Yeti: 20,000 -> ?
        • Ifrit: 150,000 -> 500,000
        • Prairie Dragon: 150,000 -> 500,000
        • Desert Dragon: 300,000 -> 1,000,000
        • Red Dragon: 300,000 -> 1,000,000
      • Ifrit now has complete stun immunity.
      • Giant Alligator and Desert Dragon will no longer attempt to run away.
      • Desert Dragon's spawn location has been changed from Kaypi Canyon to Sheep Mark.
      • Giant Lioness' spawn count has decreased from 6 to 2.
      • Giant Sandworm's spawn count has decreased from 2 to 1.
      • These bosses summoned through the Monster Summoning Urn do not receive any changes to rewards, EXP, and HP, nor are they affected by the raid quest system.

The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment Update

Update Promotion - The Enlightenment Update - September 18, 2013

  • Stat Rebalance:
    • Every 10 Strength now adds 1 Defense.
    • Every 5 Intelligence now adds 1 Magic Attack rather than every 20 Intelligence adding 1 Magic Attack.
    • Every 20 Intelligence adds 1 Magic Protection and no longer contributes to Magic Defense.
    • Every 10 Will now adds 1 Magic Defense.
    • The Balance formula from Dexterity was changed, and you may gain only a maximum of 50% from Dexterity.
    • The Deadly formula from Will has been changed.
    • Luck now increases the chance for Archery Skills to miss passively without the use of Evasion.
    • Magic Damage's formula has been revised.
    • Protection was split into physical and magical damage, where "Protection" only effects physical damage.
      • The formula for Protection Stat to Effective Protection (the actual damage, injury, and critical reductions) has been revised.
    • New Stat: Armor Pierce - ignores the enemy's Defense stat by the specified amount. Every 15 Dexterity contributes to 1 Armor Pierce. Crossbow Mastery and Axe Mastery also contribute to Armor Pierce for the respective weapons. This is not to be confused with Piercing Level.
    • Several monster's Defense, Protection, Magic Defense, and Magic Protection has been altered.
    • The soft cap of Health, Stamina, and Mana has been increased from 999 to 1,500. They also now influence the effects of certain Alchemy Skills, which is based on user's remaining Health/Stamina/Mana rather than total.
  • Alchemy Skills Revamp:
    • Clay, Fire, Water, and Wind Crystals stack limit has been increased from 500 to 1,000. They no longer have a resale value.
    • Alchemy Bag added, which can store all types of cylinders and alchemy crystals.
    • All Skill-specific Alchemy Crystals are no longer obtainable and their corresponding skills now use combinations of basic elemental crystals with the exception of Mana Crystallization.
      • Existing skill-specific alchemy crystals can be exchanged to Eabha for gold.
      • Skill-specific alchemy crystals can still be used by right-clicking them and selecting "Use".
    • Mana Crystallization now requires all five charges of Thunder and Ice Spear to be casted in order to create the respective crystal. The crystals no longer have a rank; their damage is now based on the player's rank of Mana Crystallization.
    • Water Cannon's loading time has been reduced to 1 second for all ranks. 30% of the user's remaining Mana is now added to the skill's damage.
    • Wind Blast's damage is increased, and one usage triggers a cooldown of 7 seconds rather than utilizing an overuse system. 25% of the user's remaining Stamina is now added to the skill's damage.
    • Sand Burst's loading time has been reduced to 0 seconds, charging count has been reduced to 1 and therefore is no longer affected by Chain Cylinder, and using it triggers a cooldown of 3 seconds rather than utilizing an overuse system. Blinding a target now causes it to drop aggro. Skill success rate is 100% and is no longer based on Combat Power. 10% of the user's remaining Stamina is now added to the skill's damage.
    • Flame Burst's damage is now increased by 8% of the user's remaining Health.
    • Barrier Spikes now only requires 5 Earth Crystals to use. 15% of the user's remaining Health is now added to the Barrier Spikes' reflective damage.
    • Summon Golem now only requires 5 Clay, Fire, Water, and Wind Crystals to use. The type of Golem summoned is now dependent on Summon Golem rank. Magic Golems still may only be summoned if you possess their respective crystals. Golem's skills have had their loading times decreased to 0 seconds, but their stats remain the same.
    • Frozen Blast now only requires 2 Water and 1 Wind Crystals to use. Loading time has been decreased to 1~3 seconds, but cooldown has been increased to 30 seconds. Frozen Blast now deals damage to the selected target, which is based off of 6% of the user's remaining Stamina.
    • Rain Casting now only requires 3 Water and 1 Clay and Wind Crystals to use.
    • Life Drain now only requires 2 Wind and 1 Fire, Clay, and Water Crystals to use. Loading time has been decreased to 1~1.5 seconds, but now has a cooldown of 16~20 seconds. 35% of the user's lost Health is now added to the skill's draining damage.
    • Shock now only requires 1 Fire and 2 Wind Crystals to use. Loading time has been decreased to 1 second. 35% of the user's remaining Mana is now added to the skill's damage.
    • Heat Buster damage is now increased by 45% of the user's remaining Stamina.
    • Chain Cylinder now activates 100% of the time with a full charge with the amount dependent on rank, but has a cooldown of 10~15 seconds. The Master Title's +10% Activation Rate has been changed to -1 second cooldown. Sand Burst is no longer affected by Chain Cylinder.
    • Skill training requirements for most alchemy skills have been adjusted due to the removal of crystal-making.
    • Shadow Mission Alchemy Crystal Rewards now only provide Clay, Fire, Water, Wind, Ice Spear, Fireball, and Thunder Crystals.
    • The Shadow Mission Rescue the Scout's beginning chests now provide Earth Crystals rather than Barrier Spike Crystals.
  • Dunbarton Changes:
    • The Dunbarton Square size has been increased, allowing more room for Personal Shops.
    • The Bell Tower has been moved to right next to the Unicorn Statue and now rings at 5:30 AM in-game time similar to Tara's Bell Tower.
    • The Upgrade Anvil has been moved to the houses in the southern area inside Dunbarton.
    • The Dunbarton Town Messenger has been moved to northwest of the square, near the statue of Morrighan (between the Grocery and General Stores).
    • Various trees within Dunbarton have been relocated or removed.
    • Various houses within the southern area inside Dunbarton have been removed.
    • Signposts pointing to other locations from Dunbarton have been remodeled and have their height increased.
    • Pathways connecting from Dunbarton to Rabbie and Math Dungeons have been added.
  • Other:
    • Recovering health by any method now displays how much health was recovered in green.
    • Titles and prefix titles that contained Magic Attack were given four times the amount they had prior to this update. Enchants were unaltered.
    • Upgrades that added Magic Damage have been changed to Magic Attack.
    • The effects of S-Type Special Upgrades for Wands and Staves, which previously gave Magic Damage, now gives Magic Attack of four times the amount.
    • Auto Defense when equipped with a shield now has a different sound effect.
    • Piercing Level effects have been greatly increased.
    • B+ Bombs now stack to 1,000.
    • Beginner benefits' maximum total level has been raised from 100 to 300.
    • World Maps and Uladh's town's Mini Maps have been redesigned.
    • Uladh's town's Mini Maps now have a zoom function.
  • North America Exclusive:
    • The Saga: Iria Daily Bonuses were added.
      • Depending on the day of the week, certain episodes are highlighted which provides bonus rewards.

Patch Notes - Merlin Update - November 14, 2013

  • New: Hero Talents
    • These are talents that provide training in three skill-sets with the addition of three skills that only achieve double training from them.
    • Hero talents have their own base stats, aging stat growth, and leveling stat growth.
    • Hero talents may only be obtained with the use of a Ace, Hero, or Elite Hero character card.
      • You may rebirth freely or without a card and keep the talent so long as you do not change it.
  • New Character Cards: Ace, Hero, and Elite Hero.
    • Ace character cards allow you to rebirth an existing character or create a new character under a Ace or classic talent. In addition, as you gain your first 50 AP through leveling up your character or exploration, you may give 1 AP up to 50 times to a designated support character on your account not including the character who is being reborn. Each time you use a Ace character card, the limit is raised by an additional 50(?). Using this card to select a Ace talent will give you its three corresponding skills at novice rank.
      • You do not require a character card to obtain the talent's three corresponding skills; using a character card just lets you skip that step.
    • Hero character cards are identical to Ace cards, but may only be used to create new characters. Characters created with this card will come with some skills pre-ranked in addition, will have 400 unallocated AP, and 1,000 cumulative level.
      • You must have a character cumulative level 1,000 in order to create a character with a Hero card.
    • Elite Heros character cards are identical to Hero cards, but with higher ranks, 800 unallocated AP, and 1,200 cumulative level.
      • You must have a character cumulative level 2,000 in order to create a character with an Elite Hero card.
  • New Hero Talent: Druid
    • Provides double skill training in Mage, Cleric, and Apothecary talents' skills in addition to Spellwalk, Snap Cast, and Meteor Strike.
    • Achieving Master in the Mage, Cleric, and Apothecary talents will award you the Druid hidden talent title.
  • Other:
    • All Staves may now use Blaze.
    • An aesthetic druid circle now appears under the caster when using Hail Storm.
    • The Beauty Shop has been replaced by the Dressing Room. Update Promotion.
      • Retains Coco's function of customizing one's character. However, both Coco and Ropa have been removed.
        • Ropa's wares are no longer sold.
      • Can be used from anywhere and does not have its own instanced location.
      • Dressing Room allows you to alter the camera angle in areas where camera angle is normally fixed.
      • Dressing Room allows you to store equipment in it.
        • Can store Hats, Gloves, Clothing/Armor, Shoes, and Robes/Wings.
        • You may not store Right Hand Items, Left Hand Items, Accessories, or Falias Artifacts.
      • Quests associated to the Dressing Room have been added.
    • To buy the Style slots, you no longer need to use a Fashion Slot Key. Upon clicking on an inactive style slot tab, it will prompt you if you want pay 12 pons directly to extend its duration.

  • New Hero Talent: Starlet
    • Provides double skill training to Music, Healing, and Puppetry talents' skills in addition to Song, Encore, and Fantastic Chorus.
    • Achieving Master in the Bard, Cleric, and Puppeteer talents will award the Starlet hidden talent title.
  • Other:
    • Playing Instrument's "very good result" now causes the player to perform a unique animation as if they performed an "inspiring performance" with Music Buff Skills.
    • Compose has been modified to include song notes for the Song and Fantastic Chorus skills.
    • Performance Options has been added in the Options Dialog, which filters out music sounds from other players.

Professor J Update - January 23, 2014

  • New Hero Talent: Vates
    • Provides double skill training in Battle Alchemy, Construction Alchemy, and Close Combat talents' skills in addition to Elemental Wave, Golden Time, and Hydra Transmutation.
    • Achieving Master in the Battle Alchemist, Construction Alchemist, and Close Combat talents awards the Vates hidden talent title.

Patch Notes - Culinary Artist Update - April 30, 2014

  • New Hero Talent: Culinary Artist
    • Provides double skill training in Chef, Close Combat, and Apothecary talents' skills in addition to Tasting, Ingredient Hunting, and Catering.
  • Cooking Changes:
    • Cooking has been uncapped from 6 to 5.
    • New cooking ingredients and recipes have been added.
    • Several dishes have had their cooking method changed.
    • Many ingredients and dishes were renamed and their descriptions reworded.
    • Most cooking ingredients and some previously stackable foods can now be stacked up to 20.
    • Grocery stores have been modified to sell stacking-changed items in stacks of 1, 5, 10, and 20, as well as new cooking ingredients.
    • Cooked food now displays its given effects.
    • Cooking interface now lists recipes and includes the needed ingredients and their ratios.
    • Successful cooking now provides Production EXP.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings Update - June 24, 2014

  • Rebirth Changes:
  • Players can now rebirth six days after a prior rebirth rather than requiring to reach age 20.
  • Rebirth location and gender are now free.
  • Character Cards are no longer used for rebirthing, and certain cards can be disenchanted for Pons and a gift box.
  • New character features have been added.
    • Many previously NPC-only eyes and mouth styles are now selectable.
    • New face styles.
    • Elves can now have black-colored hair.
    • Humans and Giants can now have ice blue-colored hair.
    • Appearance icons are now 3D models based on one's avatar rather than 2D.
    • A "Restore" button has been added to undo customized changes in one area.
    • A "Restore All" button has been added to undo all changes done to the character.
    • A "Randomize" button has been added to generate a random appearance for the character.
    • New appearances are marked with "N" on the bottom right.
    • Premium appearances are marked with "P" on the top left.
    • Coupon appearances are marked with "C"on the top left.
      • Premium and Coupon appearances cost Pons to change.
    • Dressing Room has also received these features.
  • Talent selection UI have been categorized into Beginner, Combat, Life, and Aces and now displays their difficulty.
  • Ace Talents can now be purchased for 39 Pons.

Beginner's Benefits:

Iria Raid: Update Promotion.

  • All Iria Raid bosses will now spawn two times every day of the week.

Other:

  • Quest Tracker - Displays a UI for quests and objectives.
  • Knocked Unconscious - Reviving on Spot now has a three minute cool-down, and being knocked unconscious no longer has a chance to drop unblessed items.
