Just someone who contributes as they find something new that isn't listed.
However, this user has an impaired version of Mabinogi so cannot give some information (such as item modification effects) without outside sources aside from basic info.
Nobody special really...
Life is funny; you can lose it or ruin it and always get it back no matter how bad you have it in the end.

Common errors running Mabinogi I've encountered w/ solutions
Win98/ME: When running the Manual Patch, I get "The path of Mabinogi installation is invalid."
You may have moved the install to another folder or to another windows install without the installer.
- Go to start -> run -> type 'Regedit' then enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Nexon -> Mabinogi
- In the right panel right-click the entry '(Default)' and select 'Modify'
- Enter the path of mabinogi (Default install should be 'C:\nexon\Mabinogi' without quotes)
- Hit 'OK' and run the manual patch
Note: Clearing out the entry for '(default)' would allow for multiple installs of Mabi without overwriting the original install in a different path.
Win98/ME: When running Mabinogi, I get 'The path of Mabinogi installation is invalid."
This can be caused by issues such as a botched install of Mabinogi leaving out some files or critical files for mabinogi having become corrupted.
- Remove the mabinogi folder by going to your mabinogi install folder (Default is C:\nexon\)
- Right-click the folder 'mabinogi' and hit 'delete' then yes to any prompts about deletion of it.
- Right-click your recycle bin and select 'delete' (ensure it IS deleted for the most part)
- Go to Start -> Run -> type 'Regedit' -> hit enter or press 'OK'
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Nexon
- Right click the key (looks like a tiny folder) called 'Mabinogi' and select 'delete'.
- Close regedit and reinstall mabinogi as normal
Win98/ME: After talking to NAO I get a black screen when being taken away with wind and crickets!. (Fresh Win9x install)
- Go to your mabinogi folder (Default C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\) and open folder 'movies'
- Double click the opening video to load it in Windows MediaPlayer v6.4 (assuming you have it)
- Let it download the needed codecs to play.
- Once it plays, reload mabinogi and try again. The opening vids should play fine now and you'll arrive where you need to be.
Win98/ME: When I try to run mabinogi, it errors with 'Device cannot start' and 'EXL.DLL file is linked to missing export SHELL32.DLL:SHCreateDirectoryExW'
&Download the file SHELL32.DLL from the following oblivion wiki link: http://www.oblivionmodwiki.com/index.php?title=Oblivion_for_Windows_98
- Place that shell32.dll in your Mabinogi folder.
- Go to Start -> Run -> type 'regedit' and hit OK.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> Current Control Set -> Control -> SessionManager -> KnownDLLs
- In the right panel right-click the entry 'shell32' with value 'shell32.dll' and click delete.
- Run Mabinogi.
Background information: The aforementioned version of shell32.dll is actually not included with windows98 and is instead from Windows ME. The same file can be obtained from using the Unnofficial ME->98 update pack which updates many win98 files with winME ones and corrects this issue.
Win98/ME: After clicking 'Game Start' I get an Illegal operation from 'Client' with 'CLIENT caused an exception c0000409H in module ESL.DLL at 016f:61841699' as the details!
This is due to too large of a blacklist for some reason. Issue still has not been resolved by a game patch.
- Go to Run -> Start -> type 'Regedit' and hit enter
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Nexon -> Mabinogi
- In the right panel right-click the entry 'blacklist' and click delete
- Close Regedit and re-run mabinogi
Win98/ME: When I try to run mabinogi, it errors with 'Device cannot start' and 'Client.exe file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:HeapSetInformation'
This error has been caused as of Generation 8 from a recent patch. Windows 98/ME support has been removed and no longer stated as part of the minimum requirements to run mabinogi on the Nexon Mabinogi Homepage. The only solution as of now is to install KernelEx ( http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/130936-kernelex-45-beta-2 )to add the missing API's (or "code") to core files of Win98/ME to be able to run Mabinogi once more.
Upon installation, for the sake of piece of mind - I would suggest installing KernelEx with 'disable extensions by default. Then upon install plus restart, right-click and select properties on both Mabinogi.exe and Client.exe in your Mabinogi install folder. Select the 'compatibility' tab and uncheck 'Disable KernelEx Extensions' then selecting 'OK'. You should now be able to run Mabinogi as normal.
