Chain Skills with Critical and Protection

Chain Skills with Critical and Protection

I'm 75% sure Charging Strike only ignores protection for damage calculation, not critical chance calculation. Did you base Focused Fist on the same thing?

I'm sure neither ignores protection for damage calculation.

Both, however, are able to ignore protection for calculating critical chance. I was able to easily critical against Hardmode Their Method zombies (59% protection) with both skills, despite being naked and having only 80% critical.

Damage was reduced for both skills, and I have never noticed Charging Strike do any more damage than it should against high protection mobs.

Both skills have entries about "ignore protection for critical hit" in JP wiki, but I cannot read that past google translate and if you or someone you know can they could be able to clear this up really fast.

I think Heavy Stander might have had a factor in there...

Even if it does, doesn't change that the criticals are 2.5 times the normal hits as they should be.

Besides, the point here is that I shouldn't be able to critical AT ALL on these zombies and that is why they are used as an example. You cannot critical on 59% protection zombie with 80% critical.

I meant the damage reduction you two were referring to, not critical chance.

Yeah, but like I said, even if charging strike ignores protection for damage only for critical hits, then regardless of heavy stander the critical hit would be much higher than 2.5 times, since protection is ignored. Stander is a constant damage reduction, so both the non-crit and the critical still get reduced by protection. If the critical would not get reduced by protection, it would appear as much higher damage still.

Either way, I only used zombies as an example because of their accessibility as a high protection mob. The skills only do one or the other, either ignore protection for critical chance or for critical damage... and so far, being able to critical high prot mobs with them without enough critical to do so can prove it is the former.

And so, what have you concluded with? Because the page's data is still the same.

Infodude57516:39, 4 June 2012

It is only for critical chance lol. I have r1 with r1 chain mastery and my critical damage on foxes is still way higher than my critical damage on high protection mobs.

Besides, I'm sure the whole for "ignores prot for damage" thing only came to be because someone misunderstood Soluna's phrasing of the skill description in mabidata.

JP Wiki does have a lot of information about charging strike and focus fist that would be nice to be brought over if someone could translate them, though.
