Pronunciation Key?
The scope of the wiki is to aid in playing the game. If someone could provide a solid explanation as to how the pronunciation aids in the playing of Mabi then sure. That or show a very solid desire from the fanbase to incorporate it into the pages rather than linking to the pronunciation guide.
Not that I care about the pronunciation issue at all, but the purpose of the wiki is to provide
information. The usage of the information is up to the reader, e.g. readers can utilize to information to aid them in the game; not the other way around. As a matter of fact, there is plenty of content on this site that does not aid in any sort of manner, whatsoever.I agree with iDSd. And honestly, what harm would it do to enchance the pages? I can't see why adding a few characters to a page would be a bad thing.
Edit: It wouldn't even have to be a sentence. For example, Wikipedia does it like this.
The Mabinogion (Welsh pronunciation: [mabɪˈnɔɡjɔn]) is the title given to a collection of eleven prose stories collated from medieval Welsh manuscripts.
"but the purpose of the wiki is to provide information" Not entirely true. Otherwise we could include any information when that's clearly not what we do. Objectively the purpose of the information is to serve those who seek the help on game content. And yes this isn't completely true for all content but the aim and intent is to lean away from that sort of content. This is why (loose) standards were set. My view is that pronunciation of various terms in game isn't that dissimilar from trivia.
The argument here is chiefly that it won't really be an enhancement. From a quality perspective it seems difficult to agree to a change that provides no palpable benefit, especially when the data already exists on a page for those eager to seek it out.
I could not find that page when I looked for it.
Even if it is trivia, we put trivia on the wiki to enrich it. I don't see the issue with just a few characters on NPC's pages, which most people read for the backstory anyhow.
This can be fixed by making the page more prominent. And trivia is typically avoided now. So no we don't really put trivia on the wiki to "enrich it".
If 'enriching' is making it unnecessarily long, I don't want it. Things like this and this are what made trivia viewed negatively among the wiki editors.
I also don't see much positives adding pronunciations, but I also see no negatives. However, it doesn't see that useful to actually bother with.
To clarify, I don't think it's a particularly bad idea, it's more that I don't think it's a particularly good/useful idea.
