Ego Wand Magic Damage
Wiki currently states that Intermediate magic damage follows the formula of:
- Intermediate Magic Min Damage = Spell min damage + Minimum damage enchants*Spell Damage Constant + Wand min damage/(100-STR Lv),
- Intermediate Magic Max Damage = Spell max damage + Maximum damage enchants*Spell Damage Constant + Wand max damage/(100-STR Lv)
So...lets take Thunder with an ego Lightning wand of 40 str (30 dex, will, and luck, giving a damage range of 38-97 damage)
- Min Damage = 133 + Enchants*.6 + 38 / (100-40)
- Max Damage = 500 + Enchants*.6 + 97 / (100-40)
...look at that damage increase from having an ego wand of 40 strength. Calculated according to formula, that's a Min. damage increase of .63, and a Max damage increase of 1.61 from just the wand alone...How in the world is this formula right? It doesn't make sense to have an increase that insignificant compared to the time and effort spent on attaining an ego of those stats. Maybe its just me, but I'm thinking there's something horribly wrong with that formula...Either that, or Nexon really doesn't want us to use ego wands. Input, anyone?
That's why ego wands are so bad. Note also that non-ego wands are considered to have a STR level of 0.
Ego wands add nothing to adv magic beyond the normal min and max being scaled by the damage constant. I've tested this, ego wands are terrible.
Well, not to pick, but assuming the formula is right, you wouldn't be able to tell with an ego wand below probably level 70 str anyway. Either way they're terrible though.
With an ego with lv15 str, I did the EXACT same max damage as a normal lightning wand with thunder across at least 50 shots. There wasn't a single point of increased damage.
The lightning bolt however, did significantly more damage on the ego and seemed to match what was previously listed as the adv magic formula for egos.
Lightning wand ego at lv15 str has a damage range of 14~31. 31/(100-15) = .365 damage added for Adv magic, which would get rounded down to 0. You can't say that the formula is wrong, because it comes out the same both ways. Kind of like general relativity and Newtonian physics at low velocity.
That would imply that the best damage boost you could get from it is about 2 points. I think the formula is wrong in that case.
Well, it seems that using ego wands to do advanced (I guess its actually going to be considered Int magic now with G13 coming up) is fairly safe to call useless. However, using the ego to spam bolts on the other hand shows a much more significant increase in damage. Critting with my wand is just delicious.
In any case, I might as well stick with my lightning wand ego due to the upcoming Artisan upgrades and the special R and S type refinements. Any word on there being an ego weapon revamp in any upcoming generation?
