Berched spirit weapon transfer?

I noticed a few times that Berched will also do the spirit transfer thing. What sort of transfer does he do? I don't have the funds right now to test it myself.

Berched gives the brief details on transferring a spirit - as described in his book - while Tarlach uses this knowledge to do the actual process.

If you have all the materials though, he asks you to pick a weapon to use the transfer magic on.

What are the materials he requires? If it is the same materials as Tarlach's, it may be possible that he does the same transfer.
