The animations are the same.
When in combat mode, your character holds their hand out.
Windmilling makes the ground shake for you and nearby players, counter attack appears like you are teleporting.
When knocked down, you levitate or float upward basically like a stiff board!
Smash just whacks your enemy, and when you normal attack, your character just whacks it, and you stand straight.
ALSO I just added that apparently it makes females do male gestures when equipped. Bwahaha.
