Uroboros

Uroboros is a valid name. Wiktionary has Uroboros as the Serbo-Croatian version of the Greek Ouroboros. As the image supplied specifically has Uroboros in English then until Nexon NA states otherwise, this is the most likely name that will be used.

Note that Uroboros (and Ouroboros) is the singular form not the plural. That is, one of these monsters is called a Uroboros, while a number of these monsters are called Uroborosi but players will probably use Uroboroses (the plural of Ouroboros is given as Ouroboroi or Ouroboroses). Again the info is from Wiktionary but if you type Uroboros in google you'll find a number of sites using this word (and as the singular not plural form). Also, when the game gives a cut scene introducing a boss monster, it only gives the singular name, even if there are multiples of that monster present and I'm assuming the foreign servers are similar lol.

Uroboros is used to show a snake or dragon curled into a circle and biting/eating its own tail or something that can be inferred to be acting in a similar fashion (usually to do with concepts involving religion or superstition). As a mythical creature (rather than a concept), an Uroboros appeared to be one of a kind and fairly huge (as in world spanning) but this appears to depend on what legend or culture was describing it. The in-game monster appears to be a creature with four heads (at least the info supplied in the "Basic Information" section seems to suggest this) and therefore doesn't represent the actual mythical creature. Even if they are 4 separate creatures then that's still 3 too many existing in the world and they are rather tiny as compared to most descriptions of the real-life mythical creature. All I'm saying is except in name and that the heads look like dragons or snakes, the in-game monster does not appear to resemble the real-life mythical creature. Also, the real-life Mabinogi mythology doesn't appear to include any creature using the name Uroboros, Uroborus or Ouroboros and none that resembled the in-game monster (however I'm not an expert and have only skimmed over the basics of a few of the variety of versions of the real-life Mabinogi mythology).

As far as Uroboros is used to represent a concept, Wikipedia states that "In alchemy, the Ouroboros is a purifying sigil". It was used as a symbol (not a creature) for some concept in the ancient superstition of alchemy. So at least there is some real-life association between Uroboros and alchemy but not as the game depicts it XD. --ZRoc (Talk) 23:37, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I used the Uroborus keyword on Sinead and she said it was a symbol of the Arat Alchemy Society (the Corrupted Alchemists). Sooo... I'm not sure what to say about that --ShadowclanxAnarchist 06:34, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
one of storyline tells you that uroboros were god/guardian of partholon and symbol for caliburn (foundation of alchemy). Maybe thats why python shamans are spawned before uroboros awakening. Fallenone 11:16, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Template

They are shadow monsters so should be using the shadow template. Apparently they all have the same stats and same element (none), regardless of their color. So they can be combined. Though JP could be wrong. --- Angevon (Talk) 01:03, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Explosion Reduction Set

In mabinogi times, there is a tip that say uroboros's attack is reduced by explosion set but few replies disagree. I think it gonna take long time for them to settle it, so can anyone confirm this? Fallenone 12:46, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

You shoulda mentioned this earlier! I already finished my G11 without my set on so I couldn't test that ~kotarou3 TALKCONTRIBS 21:40, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

The Ultimate Uroborus Guide

First off, while this is a guide to make it easier to kill, maybe you can compare some of the information with here with the ones listed on the wiki and see there is some big errors: Anyways onto the guide:

Source: http://mabidata.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=462

First of bring potions just in case. Demigod is not really needed but can help the process to be faster. Using Mana Shield can help.
There's a total of 4 heads, each head have different effect of attack:

  • Red / Yellow: High Damages
  • Blue: Poison
  • White: Slower Walk Speed

There's a total of 2 Phases, not counting killing the Python Wizards:

1st Phase, the Uroborus will do simple breath attacks and you just have to move out the way before it hit.

After you have damaged the Uroborus enough (note, it is not by time but by damage done by Uroborus), the battle will enter the 2nd Phase.

In the 2nd Phase the Uroborus will use devastating breath attacks in the shape O, X and K , which will KO you if you are hit.

However, there is a pattern to look for and hide in the appropriate spot:

  • O : Middle
  • X : UP, Down, Left, Right
  • K UP : Left, Right, UP
  • K DOWN : Left, Right, Down
  • K Left : Up, Down, Right
  • K Right : Up, Down, Left

The pattern consist of 3 cycles, and at the end of the 3rd cycle will go back to the first cycle:

  • Cycle 1: Normal Attack, Normal Attack, O Breath, X Breath, O Breath, Idle
  • Cycle 2: Normal Attack, Normal Attack, K Breath face up, X Breath, K Breath face down, Idle
  • Cycle 3: Normal Attack, Normal Attack, K Breath face right, O Breath, K Breathe face left, Idle
    • Idle is the best time to attack

The Pattern Video is Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfN98wS6pmo

If you were killed, the pattern will rest back to Cycle 1 however. For this reason, it might be easier to actually do this mission alone than have a Royal Alchemist to help you because any death will cause the pattern to reset and is difficult to determine which Snake Head is targeting you at time.

We have a few information wrong on the wiki. First, Uroborus' special attack does not occur in ~10 minutes like we have now, but when enough damage is done to Uroboros. 2nd, he has more than 3 breath attack and has a pattern to it. Shall we add that to the wiki? --Miyuna 14:47, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Head immune to LightningBolt?

Has anyone else noticed that the Uroboros Head doesn't seem to take damage from Lightning Bolt? I was just fighting it earlier in G11 and noticed the Head not taking any damage from my Ice/Lightning Fusion Bolt until I stopped using Lightning Bolt.

Book of Uroboros

[1] Some key item to Saga Iria 2.

Look at its cover and gaze upon the snakes eating their tails. Does the creature have any significance to the book itself or is it just another coincidence like the Lost Avon Relic? What is this book's purpose, then?

Infodude575 (talk)18:05, 24 March 2014

Last I checked, we have not translated the new episode yet. Though, my best guess is that it rather has to do with the symbol of the Ouroboros, not the creature itself. There seems to be a lot of symbolism, an eye above a tree within an Ouroboros whilst talking about people awakening into existence, I would guess the book is the real Tabhartas but no clue yet.

Fire Breath

Why is that the placeholder for its spit skill? They aren't the same, are they?

Infodude575 (talk)00:40, 20 January 2013

Uroborus or Uroboros?

I don't remember, but which one did they call it? The KR screenshot calls it Uroboros, but we're NA...

Infodude57523:11, 27 November 2011

I am pretty sure we are Uroborus.

If it starts with a U, it ends with a Us, if it starts with a Ou, it ends with a Os. At least, from what I remember. The correct mabi spelling is with a U and Us (rarely used outside of Mabi), but Ou and Os (what's correct outside of Mabi) is not featured in Mabi from what I remember. For plural you just change it to Oi, regardless of it's Es or Os.
