Collection Speed Upgrades

Okay, there aren't any details on those upgrades on the wiki yet, so I'm putting this section here to get the information together. So far I have the durability upgrade and the first collection speed upgrade, which changed the time from 5.5 seconds to about 5 seconds (about a 10% increase). Furthermore, the cost was increased by 70%, rounded down to the nearest integer. I checked that with all 3 costs. -Doomsday 16:18, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

As it turns out, each collection speed upgrade knocks off another half a second, but multiplies the current repair cost by 1.7 (rounding down after all the multiplications have been done). Don't know about the 5th upgrades. -Doomsday 19:56, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I've done extensive tests on this, and I'm updating the wiki accordingly. My control was using software to set a fixed delay between picking attempts, and fine tuning the delays at 0.05 second adjustments. With an unmodded pickaxe the required delay is 5.085 seconds to succeed at 89% of the attempts (meaning about 1 out of 9 is "too fast"). At 5.045 seconds there's a 100% failure rate, and at 5.125 seconds there's a 100% success rate, so the tolerance error is +- 0.04 seconds (1.6% error). With independant tests, I found the average rate for 1 mod to be 4.835 seconds, 2 mods is 4.585 seconds, 3 mods is 4.335 seconds, 4 mods is 4.085 seconds, and 5 mods is 3.315 seconds. Each of the first 4 speed mods was exactly 0.250 seconds faster than the previous, and the final mod was 0.770 seconds faster. All tests were conducted at 2pm server time March 26 2009, channel 6, under optimal conditions on a 18 millisecond ping connection -sly 22:50, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

wow. bless you. ^_^ -- Ladywinter 22:57, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Very Nice. Much more accurate than what I could come up with on a stopwatch. What was the change in the repair cost? --Doomsday 05:05, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
For the 5th speed mod I borrowed a pickaxe for the test and didn't use it enough that I needed to repair it. I'll report back if/when I find out. With regards to my findings, a friend looked in the XML database and tells me the 5th speed upgrade is 1000 milliseconds, not 750. I know I timed very accurately, so I think the pickaxe I borrowed was not a 5/5 speed mod. If one of the first 4 upgrades was a durability upgrade instead of a speed upgrade, it would explain the discrepancy. I'm going to change the wiki again to reflect the 1 second upgrade until I can prove otherwise. sly Late:00, 04 April 2009

Consumes 1 stamina per second of mining. Incorrect?

Wouldn't that suggest a loss of 5 stamina per ore? I only experience 3 stamina loss per ore, 1 stamina loss per swing of the pickaxe (3 swings total with no upgrades). --Akumo 23:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I also observed this. Also, with full speed upgrades, the stamina loss is the same, and the number of swings is the same. Sogard6 18:19, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Repair Cost Multipliers

Are we certain on the total repair cost multipliers of the upgrade sequences? The data here suggests they stack (sum) while for gathering knife the repair multipliers apply in a sequence (product). If someone could confirm this that would be wonderful. --Sanity 16:35, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
