Talk:Neid

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Someone needs to make Neaid redirect here. It still goes to the Dragon page. BladeBlade 01:16, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

And how often does this thing spawn? I haven't seen one yet. -- BladeBlade 08:10, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

This thing is not out until G9S2.--Saix7 08:45, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
I suppose that's a good reason.... -- BladeBlade 09:16, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Why is called Nied and not Loch ness?

just wanna know the possible reason behind this name. ty.--Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 00:32, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

googled it up; apparently at least one meaning of the word is that it's a celtic rune. "Nied is the rune of necessity and constraint. [...] Whereas Wyn is a rune of joy and happiness, Nied is nearly its opposite. Nied is the “school of hard knocks” where lessons are learned by necessity. It is therefore a rune of struggle, sometimes of the ordeal." So...it's a boss that's an ordeal to fight? XD -- Ladywinter 01:34, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

well, i can't answer why it was called neid, but the loch ness monster, or "Nessy" is named so because it lives in lake loch ness. since it isn't called lake loch ness in game but instead lake Neagh, it makes sense that we wouldn't name is Nessy, or loch ness. believe it or not, my mom asked me the same thing when i showed her pictures of it, so your not alone in these thoughts. XD Miyani 01:52, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

To expand, loch = lake. So loch ness monster = lake ness monster, it's a very literal name for a creature. It's not like the Arc Lich is called Metus Canyon Monster.--Mystickskye 02:15, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Neagh is actually pronounced the same as the word "knee." So following how Nessy is named after Ness, Neid is named after Neagh :D that's my guess. --Haven923 04:56, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Could nickname it 'Neaghie'. --Hecate 09:47, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Spawn time

Does nied have a specific spawn time, like once a day, multiple times a day, or once a week.--Hikarixz 02:58, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Spawns are either every week(e.g. Dragons) or ever few days(e.g. Yeti or Giant Alligator)--Kakachi 18:22, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
It's spawn is the same as Prairie Dragon, Gator, and Lion. Basically once a day or so. --Berkt 23:13, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
I've fought it three times a day two days in a row now, so I'm pretty sure it spawns more often than that. --Simpet 18:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
I meant once a day per channel. Each channel usually has a different spawn time too so you can go and fight it 7 or 5 times a day if you knew the spawns. --Berkt 20:50, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Ah, alright. Yeah, it spawns once a day per channel. --Simpet 00:41, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Name

It's name is actually spelled Neid in-game. Seems Nexon made a typo in the news announcement. --Berkt 23:37, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Ice Bolt Advice

Just wondering, is saying to use ice bolt actually good advice? With level 2 MD and 120k hp, you'd barely do anything at all to it. --Simpet 18:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Without int bonus, you would do about 24-72 dmg on each icebolt, since level 2 MD damage reduction is 10-70%, overall icebolt spamming is NOT a good tactic. Melee spamming on the otherhand and wm'lling when Neid is doing Tail Attack, is a better idea. SoraHikari 04:25, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

AI Glitch?

Twice now, I've seen it sit there and do nothing when it aggros someone out of its range. Everyone can just beat on it with melee besides the one person, who it just growls at and doesn't do anything else. The first time I fought it, it stayed aggro'd on a fisher it had spawned by and killed and I just beat it to death with daggers with some friends. o.O --Simpet 18:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
