Talk:Nagle's Algorithm
Thanks for creating this page, Bloodmage0. I made a link to it and tried to create it earlier, but my browser crashed during its creation and I had not saved it. This annoyed me so I ended up never adding it. It strongly affects Mabinogi though, so it deserves to be on here. You described it very well, I only made one or two very minor additions. -Drake3 07:09, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
The article already exists here: Nagle's Algorithm--Hengsheng120(talk•contribs) 09:47, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- That is a wikipedia article for one and it doesn't relate it to Mabinogi for two. --Drake3 21:58, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Article Deletion
People have no right to randomly delete an article that has no negative consequences that directly come from its existence. This article is helpful to people who experience lag on Mabinogi; a great deal of people. if you wish to delete a page, DISCUSS IT FIRST. You CANNOT mindlessly remove other people's hard work without a proper consultation. Lhazzal 10:04, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- A number of our battle tactics reference the Nagle Algorithm, so I believe an article on it is probably a good idea. I'm not sure what our policy should be on showing how to disable it and creating disablers for it, though... It may be better if we simply have the page externally link to the many other guides there are to disable it rather than hosting such info ourselves on the wiki. ---Angevon 19:54, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- I think it is good to have some basic info of our own on how to disable it as this is the Mabinogi wiki and in the context of Mabinogi, it should be disabled to improve the game performace. Also, if we only linked to outside articles, then those articles could change or disappear and then the information would be gone for people who may be looking for it. I think we should have basic info describing it and how to disable it, with reference links to external articles for support and clarity. Oh, I also feel that having it be a section of ways to reduce lag is fine. As long as I can still like to it fine with this redirect. If the lag article gets too bulky though, it may want to become its own article again and be linked to from the lag article. --Drake3 21:49, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
Automatic disabler
So, I made/edited a custom Nagle Disabler to be user-friendly. This works perfectly, by adding the value into each folder in the Interfaces part of the Registry. I'm not placing it on the main-page until I get verification for it. (this works for both XP and Vista, so long as they have the correct Service Packs)
I could make this into an actual .exe if you would like to, as it's not hard to code. A lot of people get scared with Batch files. ~Zallist 15:03, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
