Talk:Lightning Bolt

From Mabinogi World Wiki

Wasn't Rank F Lightningbolt's charging time once 1.5 seconds? At some point, people said that Lightningbolt was the fasted charging magic spell. Fruitrecruit

That only works for Monsters. They actually can cast any Bolt faster than a human, no matter what rank, even if they are equal. Shadowboy132

Except humanoid casters, like Succubus/Incubus/Black Wizard, i think. Fruitrecruit
There still fomor...

I'm not sure how elf/giant rankings are going to be handled, but I will say that it costs an Elf 6 AP to rank Lightning Bolt to F. Sisakat 20:11, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Name Confusion

I found this page REALLY REALLY inconsistant is it "Lightning Bolt" or "Lightningbolt"? --Warthog518 06:02, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

The correct "legit" name is Lightning Bolt. That, and the title says Lightning Bolt. -- Eiyuu 2:31, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

"Lightning Bolt will not lose charges if equipped on a Wand"

Like stated that "Smash can be used with a bow", this is actually an MOD that is ILLIGEAL! ~ Shadowboy132

R1's mp cost

I apologize if my first edit my have been a bit out of place, since i don't know about the patch files and stuff, But I can cast r1 lightning immediately after getting 5 mp. so I'm very certain it uses 5 not 6. --Goldenchikle 00:05, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

According to skillleveldetail.xml and skillleveldetailelf.xml, it's 5 mp, so.--Sozen Cratos Focker 01:42, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't wanna turn this into an edit war or anything, so i won't change it back unless more people agree with me. but why was it changed back to 6?--Goldenchikle 05:34, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Links to strategies non-existent

Been fixing these all day but now those are a different matter and I'm not sure on how to do it. Just need to replace all the old tactics links to something that works like the solo and team magic-based tactics section or something maybe? --Melodious 19:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Ego Lightning Wand + Lightning Bolt

Tested recharging lightning bolt with my ego wand. I casted once (and got chain+2 due to soc being over 12, soc currently at 15) and got my three charges. My mana went down. I casted again to get my 5 charges. My mana went down. I kept charging lightning after this and watched my mana slowly creep up again as I continually casted with my lightning ego.

Retested this at a lower mana level. It appears that as long as you have enough mana for the chaincast, you can recharge and keep your 5 charges without using any mana. To test this, I chaincasted w/ 15 mana (from a mp10 on friday) up to 5 charges, then swapped weps to get rid of all my remaining mana. LB wouldn't recharge with no mana. Then i waited for 4 mana and recahrged, and didn't lose any of my mana. It just kept going up.

When I used a regular lightning wand, charged up to 5 charges, then recharged, mana still went down.

Verdict: you can keep recharging lightningbolt with an ego at no extra mana cost as long as you have enough mana to cast once.-- Demaetri 03:36, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

I still think this needs a bid more testing but at least now its specific. though it might have been the chain casting and not just your ego.--Goldenchikle 13:50, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Stun Time

  • "Lightning Bolt stuns longer than Icebolt"

Is there any proof or documentation of this? As far as I can tell, it's just a myth. --Inemnitable 07:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

No there is no proof, however, when you ask this in the forums there seems to be significant amount of people that claim lightning stuns slightly (they are not going to say how much longer tho, if you asked a number such as

+0.1s they are not sure) I'd guess +50ms but that prolly means nothing (0.05 secs lol?). --Hengsheng120·TALKCONTRIBS 10:28, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I've actualy tested this and Lightning bolt knocks enemies back farther as well as stuns longer than ice bolt. It has approcimately 5% more pushback and stun than ice. Ice is clocked to 1.58 seconds of stun and lightning bolt to 1.67 seconds of stun. Tellos 21:48, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
That's a difference of less than a tenth of a second. Depending on how long a monster's AI waits before doing something after the stun wears off, it could make the stun seem more than a second longer.
How many times did you record the time?
And did you use ice and lightning revolver, or just 3 iceboats and a 2charge lightning bolt? (the reason I ask this is because when you use multiple lightning bolts, all of the attack happens at once, but with icebolt, ther's a short pause between hits, so some of the "pain" wears off before you even finish the attack.(that's why you can't normally push back with 2 hits immediately with icebolt))--Sozen Cratos Focker 07:12, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
This was tested via pvp @ 0% in order to calculate exact stun times vs an opponent with next to no lag (I myself have a ping under 30ms). This was clocked using a time frame to show how soon one could retaliate with their own stored bolt, and yes lightning has a mere 1/10th second increase in stun (this is comparable to how a gladius has a 1/5th second increase stun vs a short sword). This 1/10th second allows you to lock more efficiently. The pushback was tested via the 2+magic which forces a knockback as though they had just been pummeled by bolts, since the first received knockback by the target is dependant on the strike used. The pushback distance (and therefore duration) with lightning was visibly greater than that of ice. It should also be noted that ones ability to attack recovers SLIGHTLY before ones ability to move (also roughly a tenth of a second). I tend to use pvp to test stun time since I can get an exact time frame out of it provided my helper does not lag. Tellos 05:11, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

"You may be looking for Long Bow or Weather instead of the skill. "

How would someone looking for Long Bow end up here?--Sozen Cratos Focker 07:08, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Lightning Bolt and Long Bow share the same initials. "LB" redirects to this page. --Aramet (Talk) 17:28, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

firing other players charges

the page states that if you fire lightning bolt with other players holding charges, those charges will be fired off as well. but whose rank and int is calculated for the damages? if a person with R1 LB and a large amount of int charges up 5 LB charges, can some newbie come along and waste all those charges by firing off 6 RF shots by taking the R1's charges or do the charges maintain the power of the original person to charge them? this could be a potentially devastating tactic if two low-ranked players charged the magic and "donated" those charges to a much more powerful player depending on how the damage ends up working. Vorthod 14:45, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

It doesn't say that the person who fires the bolt USES the bolts of the other user, just that their number of targets is increased. In other words, if two people standing next to each other each have 5 charges of Lightning Bolt loaded, the first one can hit 10 targets, and the second can immediately after use their 5 charges to hit another 5 targets. Since all that's happening is that the user's number of possible targets is increasing, and you aren't actually using the other player's skill, I'm pretty sure it's all based on your own rank and int. --ジェリ 15:46, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Dan Rank Max Damage Bonus

In Renovation, Lightning Bolt gets a new effect that is directly boosted by Dan ranks, a first for it since all Dan ranks have done is just alter master titles. How should any of that be incorporated into the chart?

Infodude575 (talk)10:58, 17 May 2015

I go to the talk page as I'm doing this and voila, I see this.

I really have no idea what to do here, but I think extending the chart's bonuses, adding the AP costs of dans to it as well would work. Lightningbolt probably will be the only page for this, but it'd be a template if they decide to include dan ranks as bonuses or touch upon it ever again.
