Height to Get Boxes

The page actually does point out that there is a Chance to get a box over 10m so there's no reason to complain about a few unlucky launches giving you nothing.--Monsoon 03:08, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

I just launched one 16.82 and did not receive a box. please change this page? -Decius

EDIT : just launched one 17.10 and got one. I'm willing to bet it is 17m for a box, or 17.04 or something. -Decius

Perhaps there's a limited number of boxes? It was at 10m last night and has been creeping up since then-Riyoh

10m?! last night i launched several over 10m, and under 11m, and didnt receive one. it was 11m last night to the best recollection of my guildees and I. i think that it just changes at every 12 hour mark to either a random increment of meters probably between and 10 and 20 OR it alternates from 11m, during 12 pm PST to 12 am PST, to 17m, during 12am PST to 12 pm PST. Any other theories? -Decius

I had the same troubles with not receiving boxes when my fireworks are going high enough. I switched characters and went to a different town, then I did get a box. Maybe Nexon doesn't want us camping in one town? I don't see why that makes sense though July 4th is SUPPOSED to be a social event... EDIT: Just launched one in new location, 16.95m; no box. -Aeristas

Starlight Robe

Starlight robe? can anybody confirm that because im highly doubting it, alot of ppl saying u can get it but they all looked at the wiki and hvaent actually seen anybody got it. -Knightmehre

Yes you can. Someone got it on their first try. --Kevin Talk«) 20:15, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Changing Channels

Why isn't the changing channel thing included on the page? -Hazzy 6:10 PDT 6.26.2009

Cause technically, it's cheating. --Kevin Talk«) 01:18, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
Waitaminute... Doesn't that also include logging out and back in? Since using a item won't give you those combat messages when logging out. --dra6o0n
Fusion Magic is just as much a glitch, but it has it's own page. --Hazzy 12:07 PDT July 27, 2009
How did Magic Fusion get into this conversation? It's not a glitch anyways.
How is it not? I don't see a "Fusion Magic" skill or action. No in game message. Loads both sprites on top of each other.... Smells like a glitch. :> -Hazzy 5:11 PM PDT 6.27.209
Because in other Mabinogi servers, Nexon already encourages Fusion Magic. Also, the sprites dont just load ontop of eachother. If you fuse Lightning with Ice, it creates a new animation. - Ashe
Obviously, you didn't even read the Magic Fusion page.--Hengsheng120 18:18, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

--Kevin Talk«) 19:38, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Disagree- The reason i put all cool-downs was to address that; I acknowledge that it does not specifically address the event though and still could be taken off. But, if you think that's cheating then summoning the same pet you just summon on a different channel or summoning the same pet on Hch is also cheating. Using Final Hit and Rush when you just used it and switched channels and used it again also cheating. This can easily be done accidentally or purposefully by anyone, even those who didn't intend to cheat. It's a feature of the game that the cool-downs are non-transferable. Also note that most people know that cool-downs are non-transferable. It's not a secret. And for those who have really low end computers, changing channels may not be more efficient. The real cheating comes from VMware users who have 10 clients running and do have a much more impact than this.--Hengsheng120 10:27, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
User:Rusty is right, Ticking Quiz Bombs can't be reset either.--Hengsheng120 06:51, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm fairly certain exploiting glitches and faults are against the ToS. Nexon and devCAT most likely did not create this event intending for players to change channels and abuse the fireworks. I'm also sure they don't expect players to abuse timer resets if they knowingly left such a thing in the game. Think; if they honestly wanted us to make use of resetting timers, they would tell us it's possible, officially.
Since this is an event, it's much more serious matter then something silly like wasting your stamina to use Final Hit or Rush. Same applies for pet summonings. A GM most likely wouldn't care if they saw you wasting your pets time but re-summoning it over and over, but they probably would if they saw users abusing this flaw in the game to cheat at the event (though you have to realize, this is Nexon America, and GMs are people too, and our GMs probably wouldn't do anything anyways). In the end, changing channels is considered cheating.
Also, to whoever said that thing about Magic Fusion; it's not a glitch; they even have their own animations once charged (they don't look like normal bolts); would devCAT create animations for a glitch? It makes no sense; sure Nexon America didn't officially note it, but they don't note many things. They didn't note Wand Chaincasting Upgrades; they only noted Ego Chaincasting. I guess Chaincasting Upgrades are a glitch too. Pretty simple, huh? ~Rusty~
And logging in and out is cheating too. They do tell us that the timer resets, just try to change channel and in the warning box it will say "-Cancels Current Part-time Job." I am sure that if the timer was not reset, the part time job would not be canceled. It is obvious from that and all the other points, (including many other games) logging out will give a total timer reset. Also, why didn't devCat fix it if the reset penalty was a 'glitch'? Had Hundreds of thousand players all over the world not notice it? --Hengsheng120 02:36, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
Changing channels does not say "skill timers/item timers resets". The game, devCAT and Nexon have never officially stated that the game has a resetting timer for skills and other such functions, probably because it's not intended to be abused. I never said this was a glitch; maybe devCAT just can't figure a way to develop the code to allow transferable timers for such functions, or maybe they just never thought about it. I can't say, I'm not devCAT; but in the end, cheating is cheating; abusing this "function" can and will be considered cheating. If Nexons customer support was actually reliable, I would log a ticket and ask them myself, but doing that with such an unreliable service would only prove fruitless, so I'm sorry, but we'll never honestly know what Nexon thinks on the matter. ~Rusty~
I don't think it is much of a big problem. For most people, changing channels (aka logging in and out) would take almost a minute anyway. It's too much of a hassle to even do it that much just to set off fireworks earlier. When you log out, you end the session, so coding a way to continue the timer is not something I'd expect them to do. If I was DevCAT or Nexon, I would be thinking this. -- Ashe
That's far from true; I have a low end computer, and stuff seems to take forever, but I can actually change channels (even from a crowded Dunbarton to another crowded Dunbarton) in ten or 20 in game minutes (15~30 seconds). I can understand timers resetting on logout I suppose, but not changing channels. Also, I just tested Final Hits cooldown timer; it does NOT reset on channel changes, nor does it on Log off/Log in; so I'm sure the same applies for other cool down skills; indicating that timers are not meant to reset, at all. Therefore, we can easily say the items resetting timer is broken, and it's an abuse and exploit, thus, cheating. As for pets; as I have said, they just aren't that big of a deal, so Nexon/devCAT probably do not mind. ~Rusty~
Oh. My. F-ing. God. Let's just get this over with. IT DOES NOT BELONG HERE. --Kevin Talk«) 08:29, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Yay Kevin! ( ' 3') ~Rusty~

Limited by Time?

  • The event appears to have been changed by Nexon since its original opening; 4th of July boxes are now much harder to obtain, and this does not appear to be affected by the current PDT/PST.
    • This does not hold much water--for this editor, at least, boxes are not really harder to obtain.
    • Also they would have had to have another period of sever down time to alter the game in any way, so a change in the event seems unlikely.

Took these from the main page, thought they belonged more in discussion, can anyone comfirm one way or another if this is factual? I'm disagreeing with that opinion since the first time I did it when the event opened I didn't get any boxes for the first 5 boxes. --Kefkai 03:13, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

"**Also they would have had to have another period of sever down time to alter the game in any way, so a change in the event seems unlikely." This quote holds no truth. they can set delays on such things. like look how there are launch rankings now. there wasn't any before but the server did not go down. - Decius

  • That's because no one shot anything before. There was nothing to rank, and thus no rankings. And if there was a delay, they set the delay when the servers were down. [Edit-The words I used were probably not the best. What I mean is that the game data and the data base cannot be changed while in use. The same is true for any type of program, you have to not be using it to change any of the data itself.]
  • They dont need to take the server down to show rankings because messages that scroll across the top can be edited at any time. It is a simple data input edit, meaning if I was a Nexon staff, I can change words or add a shout-out, because it would be completely server sided. They only need to take down the server for maintenence if they need to make sure the Server and the Client can co-op to achieve the results they want. But simply, a change in the way the event works (timing, etc) wont need maintenence. - Ashe

Confirmed, shooting fireworks in the early morning and afternoon makes a big difference.--Hengsheng120 12:35, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

To comment on this again, Events could easily be reloaded, if anyone's ever played an RO server, all eathena servers come with the ability to reload all server side information basically through a command to the server. I wouldn't see why they wouldn't make the mabinogi servers any different, I was more concerned about how this was generally worded anyways. As for the reason they take down the server for maintenance isn't just because of client things, they're changing the server versioning, so someone is making changes to the server coding and recompiling from my best guess, atleast that's what I used to be doing during maintenance mode when I ran a RO server. But usaully there are patches associated with that for either update pac files filled with sprites and such, I just wanted to get more technical lol. --Kefkai 01:31, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Dustin Silver Knight Armor?

Really now? Can we get a confirmation on this? I highly doubt Nexon would put that kind of item in the 4th of july boxes

Then again, they were (and likely still are) available in th Iria Treasure Chest event. --Skynet 06:17, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Look at Nexon's history with Gachapons. We have Dragon Blades dropping out of Fashions, we have one Japaneese weapons for every 300,000 helmets/gloves in Soldier, and numerous rare colored weapons in Beginner....I wouldn't put it past nexon to put some Dustin into the hands of some noob who got owned by Gray Wolves before he got his shiny red-pingy armor....

BladeBlade 14:45, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Meh, maybe I'm just mad over opening 12 soldier gachapons and only getting one weapon; a dagger. Not even any armor. D:

BladeBlade

My Friend got one ~ confirmed. of course he was an idiot and fed it to his ego... -.-

Decius

I'm sorry if this is unnecessary, but... <caps>lol</caps> --Kevin Talk«) 05:32, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

What happens after July 9th?

Anyone know if boxes have to be opened before event ends on July 9th? There is no expiration on them like there was on the treasure chests. It would be nice to be able to keep them and open them later as needed.

Feel free to test it out; but I wouldn't suggest it --Skynet 06:17, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Boxes work fine despite the end of the event; confirmed. --Dprotp 07:48, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I just used a firework and it went to 18.03m yet no box. ???--Akumo 19:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Uh, 'cause the event's kinda, y'know. Over. --Dprotp 11:43, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
